Que los muertos entierren a sus muertos

Mt 8, 18-22

En aquel tiempo, al ver Jesús que la multitud lo rodeaba, les ordenó a sus discípulos que cruzaran el lago hacia la orilla de enfrente.

En ese momento se le acercó un escriba y le dijo: “Maestro, te seguiré a dondequiera que vayas”. Jesús le respondió: “Las zorras tienen madrigueras y las aves del cielo, nidos; pero el Hijo del hombre no tiene en donde reclinar la cabeza”.

Otro discípulo le dijo: “Señor, permíteme ir primero a enterrar a mi padre”. Pero Jesús le respondió: “Tú sígueme y deja que los muertos entierren a sus muertos”.

When Jesus saw a crowd around him,
he gave orders to cross to the other shore.
A scribe approached and said to him,
“Teacher, I will follow you wherever you go.”
Jesus answered him, “Foxes have dens and birds of the sky have nests,
but the Son of Man has nowhere to rest his head.”
Another of his disciples said to him,
“Lord, let me go first and bury my father.”
But Jesus answered him, “Follow me,
and let the dead bury their dead.”

Meditacion:

Abrimos la semana con un evangelio muy interesante. San Mateo nos da un detalle que no querría pasar por alto: “Jesús, al verse rodeado por la multitud...” Las multitudes se reúnen cerca del Señor para escuchar su palabra, ser curados de sus dolencias materiales y espirituales; buscan la salvación y un aliento de vida eterna en medio de las vicisitudes de este mundo.

Como entonces, algo parecido pasa en nuestro mundo de hoy día: todos tenemos la necesidad de saciar el corazón de los bienes verdaderos, como son el conocimiento y el amor a Jesucristo y una vida de amistad con él. Si no lo hacemos, caemos en la trampa de querer llenar nuestro corazón de otros “dioses”, que no pueden dar sentido a nuestra vida: los aparatos electrónicos, las redes sociales, la búsqueda de pasatiempos o diversiones, tener dos o tres trabajos para ganar más dinero, el supuesto desafío de tener más y mejores cosas que el vecino. Es lo que les pasa a muchos actualmente.

Una vida centrada en sí misma, se olvida de su entorno y de servir a los demás. Volcarnos a los demás nos da la posibilidad de sensibilizarnos e implicarnos en procesos de reivindicación y de defensa de la vida. En medio de todo este constante ruido de voces, ideas y tendencias que nos exigen, nos tientan y nos arrastran con la corriente del mundo, resuena el grito lleno de fuerza y confianza de San Juan Pablo II cuando hablaba a la juventud: “Se puede ser moderno y profundamente fiel a Jesucristo.” Esto es absolutamente cierto, pero es preciso desprenderse de todo aquello que nos ata a una vida demasiado materializada y que cierra las puertas al Espíritu. Esto es lo que quería decir y enseñar el Señor.

A su vez, San Gregorio Magno nos recuerda: “Tengamos las cosas temporales para el uso, las eternas en el deseo; sirvámonos de las cosas terrenales para el camino, y deseemos las eternas para el fin de la jornada.” Sea este mismo un propósito que nos hagamos todos en nuestra vida cristiana.

“Amado Jesús, enséñame a centrar mis aspiraciones en ti y tu enseñanza. No permitas que me deje arrastrar por la corriente y, más bien, dame fuerzas para mantenerme fiel, firme y contento contigo.”

The crowds gather near the Lord to hear his word, be healed of their material and spiritual ailments; they seek salvation and a breath of eternal life in the midst of the vicissitudes of this world.

As then, something similar happens in our world today: we all have the need to satiate the heart of true goods, such as the knowledge and love of Jesus Christ and a life of friendship with him. If we do not, we fall into the trap of wanting to fill our hearts with other "gods", who can not give meaning to our lives: electronic devices, social networks, the pursuit of hobbies or entertainment, having two or three jobs to earn more money, the supposed challenge of having more and better things than the neighbor. This is what happens to many nowadays.

A life centered on itself, it forgets its environment and serves others. Turning to others gives us the opportunity to become aware and involve ourselves in processes of vindication and defense of life. In the midst of all this constant noise of voices, ideas and tendencies that demand of us, tempt us and drag us with the current of the world, resounds the cry full of strength and confidence of St. John Paul II when he spoke to youth: "You can be modern and deeply faithful to Jesus Christ. "This is absolutely true, but it is necessary to get rid of everything that binds us to a life too materialized and that closes the doors to the Spirit. This is what the Lord wanted to say and teach.

In turn, St. Gregory the Great reminds us: "Let us have temporal things for use, eternal things in desire; let us serve ourselves with earthly things for the way, and let us desire eternal things for the end of the journey. "Let this be a purpose that we all do in our Christian life.
