La fiesta

Mt 22, 1-14

En aquel tiempo, volvió Jesús a hablar en parábolas a los sumos sacerdotes y a los ancianos del pueblo, diciendo:

"El Reino de los cielos es semejante a un rey que preparó un banquete de bodas para su hijo. Mandó a sus criados que llamaran a los invitados, pero éstos no quisieron ir.

Envió de nuevo a otros criados que les dijeran: 'Tengo preparado el banquete; he hecho matar mis terneras y los otros animales gordos; todo está listo. Vengan a la boda'. Pero los invitados no hicieron caso. Uno se fue a su campo, otro a su negocio y los demás se les echaron encima a los criados, los insultaron y los mataron.

Entonces el rey se llenó de cólera y mandó sus tropas, que dieron muerte a aquellos asesinos y prendieron fuego a la ciudad.

Luego les dijo a sus criados: 'La boda está preparada; pero los que habían sido invitados no fueron dignos. Salgan, pues, a los cruces de los caminos y conviden al banquete de bodas a todos los que encuentren'. Los criados salieron a los caminos y reunieron a todos los que encontraron, malos y buenos, y la sala del banquete se llenó de convidados.

Cuando el rey entró a saludar a los convidados, vio entre ellos a un hombre que no iba vestido con traje de fiesta y le preguntó: 'Amigo, ¿cómo has entrado aquí sin traje de fiesta?' Aquel hombre se quedó callado. Entonces el rey dijo a los criados: 'Átenlo de pies y manos y arrójenlo fuera, a las tinieblas. Allí será el llanto y la desesperación'. Porque muchos son los llamados y pocos los escogidos".

Gospel MT 22:1-14

Jesus again in reply spoke to the chief priests and the elders of the people in parables
saying, "The Kingdom of heaven may be likened to a king
who gave a wedding feast for his son.
He dispatched his servants to summon the invited guests to the feast,
but they refused to come.
A second time he sent other servants, saying,
'Tell those invited: "Behold, I have prepared my banquet,
my calves and fattened cattle are killed,
and everything is ready; come to the feast."'
Some ignored the invitation and went away,
one to his farm, another to his business.
The rest laid hold of his servants,
mistreated them, and killed them.
The king was enraged and sent his troops,
destroyed those murderers, and burned their city.
Then the king said to his servants, 'The feast is ready,
but those who were invited were not worthy to come.
Go out, therefore, into the main roads
and invite to the feast whomever you find.'
The servants went out into the streets
and gathered all they found, bad and good alike,
and the hall was filled with guests.
But when the king came in to meet the guests
he saw a man there not dressed in a wedding garment.
He said to him, 'My friend, how is it
that you came in here without a wedding garment?'
But he was reduced to silence.
Then the king said to his attendants, 'Bind his hands and feet,
and cast him into the darkness outside,
where there will be wailing and grinding of teeth.'
Many are invited, but few are chosen."

Meditacion:

Antes de comenzar con la meditacion, les recuerdo que hoy se celebra la fiesta de la Coronacion de la Virgen Maria como Reina de la Creacion o sea que si van a misa en algunas comunidades se usa el relato de la anunciacion en el evangelio.

Acordemonos hoy de nuestra madre e intercesora, la Virgen y pidamosle por nuestra alma.

Y ahora si, veamos esta parabola tan interesante. Uno podria pensar que llevado por la caridad, Dios aceptaria a todos en su fiesta, esten vestidos o no.

Pero piensalo de esta manera

Piensa que estás en la boda de un amigo. Al finalizar la ceremonia, entras al salón de la recepción y ves a un invitado de apariencia descuidada, que no se ha rasurado, viste pantalón sucio y una camisa rota, que coloca comida en su plato y discute con otros invitados. Sintiéndose ofendido, el novio se acerca y le dice: “¿Cómo pudiste venir así? ¡Por favor, vete!” A ti no te sorprende, pues aquel hombre demostró una terrible falta de respeto y consideración. Su actitud fue aún peor que su indumentaria.

De la misma manera, la apariencia del hombre que se menciona al final de la parábola de Jesús era inconveniente y ofensiva, pues no llevaba la vestimenta que se le había entregado para la boda, con lo que desairaba la oferta generosa del rey de vestirlo con dignidad. Esto lo podemos comparar con la vestimenta de los santos en el cielo, es decir “la recta conducta del pueblo santo” de la cual hablan las Escrituras (Apocalipsis 19, 8; Sofonías 1, 7-8). Podría pensarse que a este hombre lo trataron con severidad, pero de hecho, eso fue lo que él mismo escogió, porque el traje apto para la boda, es decir, la rectitud que nos merece el sacrificio de Cristo, estaba a su alcance. Él simplemente decidió no ponérselo.

Hermano, tú también has sido invitado a “las bodas del Cordero” (Apocalipsis 19, 9). Nunca recibirás una invitación más importante que ésta, así que no la guardes en un cajón. Más bien, acepta la gracia recibida y responde acertadamente. Cada día, dispón tu corazón para crecer en virtud y santidad; revístete de “compasión, bondad, humildad, mansedumbre y paciencia” (Colosenses 4, 12).

Solo una advertencia: Cuídate de no acumular buenas obras solamente para impresionar al Señor. Él está mucho más interesado en la calidad que en la cantidad, y quiere ver un cambio de corazón, no solo tus acciones. Por eso, le agrada cuando ve que dejas de lado el egoísmo para que su amor fluya a través de ti. También le agrada verte aprovechar las oportunidades que tengas para llevar palabras de ánimo o consejo a quienes las necesiten. Si estás haciendo lo posible por demostrar amor y bondad, no debes temer que vayas a terminar como el hombre desafortunado de la parábola.

“Amado Señor Jesús, purifica mi corazón para revestirme de los dones y valores que tú quieras darme.” Amen

And now, let's see this parable so interesting. One might think that led by charity, God would accept everyone at his party, whether dressed or not.

But think about it this way.

Think you're at a friend's wedding. At the end of the ceremony, you enter the reception hall and see a careless-looking guest, who has not been shaved, wears dirty pants and a torn shirt, which places food on his plate and discusses with other guests. Feeling offended, the boyfriend approaches and says: “How could you come like this? Please, go! ”You are not surprised, for that man showed a terrible lack of respect and consideration. His attitude was even worse than his clothing.

In the same way, the appearance of the man mentioned at the end of the parable of Jesus was inconvenient and offensive, since he did not wear the clothing that had been given to him for the wedding, thereby discouraging the king's generous offer to dress him with dignity. We can compare this with the dress of the saints in heaven, that is, "the right conduct of the holy people" of which the Scriptures speak (Revelation 19, 8; Zephaniah 1, 7-8). One might think that this man was treated severely, but in fact, that was what he chose, because the right suit for the wedding, that is, the righteousness that Christ's sacrifice deserves, was within his reach. He simply decided not to wear it.

Brother, you have also been invited to "the marriage of the Lamb" (Revelation 19, 9). You will never receive an invitation more important than this, so do not store it in a drawer. Rather, accept the grace received and respond correctly. Every day, dispose your heart to grow in virtue and holiness; put on "compassion, goodness, humility, meekness and patience" (Colossians 4, 12).

Just one warning: Be careful not to accumulate good works just to impress the Lord. He is much more interested in quality than quantity, and wants to see a change of heart, not just your actions. That is why he likes it when he sees that you put aside selfishness so that his love flows through you. He also likes to see you take advantage of the opportunities you have to bring words of encouragement or advice to those who need them. If you are doing your best to show love and kindness, you should not fear that you will end up as the unfortunate man in the parable.
