Las lamparas

Mt 25, 1-13

En aquel tiempo, Jesús dijo a sus discípulos esta parábola: "El Reino de los cielos es semejante a diez jóvenes, que tomando sus lámparas, salieron al encuentro del esposo. Cinco de ellas eran descuidadas y cinco, previsoras. Las descuidadas llevaron sus lámparas, pero no llevaron aceite para llenarlas de nuevo; las previsoras, en cambio, llevaron cada una un frasco de aceite junto con su lámpara. Como el esposo tardaba, les entró sueño a todas y se durmieron.

A medianoche se oyó un grito: '¡Ya viene el esposo! ¡Salgan a su encuentro!' Se levantaron entonces todas aquellas jóvenes y se pusieron a preparar sus lámparas, y las descuidadas dijeron a las previsoras: 'Dennos un poco de su aceite, porque nuestras lámparas se están apagando'. Las previsoras les contestaron: 'No, porque no va a alcanzar para ustedes y para nosotras. Vayan mejor a donde lo venden y cómprenlo'.

Mientras aquéllas iban a comprarlo, llegó el esposo, y las que estaban listas entraron con él al banquete de bodas y se cerró la puerta. Más tarde llegaron las otras jóvenes y dijeron: 'Señor, señor, ábrenos'. Pero él les respondió: 'Yo les aseguro que no las conozco'.

Estén pues, preparados, porque no saben ni el día ni la hora''.

Gospel MT 25:1-13

Jesus told his disciples this parable:
“The Kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins
who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. 
Five of them were foolish and five were wise. 
The foolish ones, when taking their lamps,
brought no oil with them,
but the wise brought flasks of oil with their lamps. 
Since the bridegroom was long delayed,
they all became drowsy and fell asleep.
At midnight, there was a cry,
‘Behold, the bridegroom!  Come out to meet him!’ 
Then all those virgins got up and trimmed their lamps. 
The foolish ones said to the wise,
‘Give us some of your oil,
for our lamps are going out.’ 
But the wise ones replied,
‘No, for there may not be enough for us and you.
Go instead to the merchants and buy some for yourselves.’ 
While they went off to buy it,
the bridegroom came
and those who were ready went into the wedding feast with him. 
Then the door was locked.
Afterwards the other virgins came and said,
‘Lord, Lord, open the door for us!’ 
But he said in reply,
‘Amen, I say to you, I do not know you.’ 
Therefore, stay awake,
for you know neither the day nor the hour.”

Meditacion:

La verdad que la idea de que Jesus vuelva y nos encuentre "dormidos" o no haciendo nada, dispersos en nuestra vida, nos causa un poquito de inquietud.

Pero hoy me gustaria reflexionar sobre algo mas concreto, algo que nos pasa cada dia y es el encuentro diario con nuestros hermanos, esos Jesus de cada dia que cruzamos en nuestro camino.

Dios nos da la posibilidad de ejercer nuestra caridad, compasion y amor fraterno a cada paso en nuestros hermanos pero a veces suceden esos momentos extranos que nos llevan a ver la mano de Dios de una manera un poquito mas evidente que lo normal.

Son esos encuentros cercanos con personas que necesitan nuestra ayuda, nuestro consejo, un abrazo con afecto, y a veces son 10 minutos y a veces seran semanas de oracion pero por alguna razon Dios nos pone alli.

La primera oracion que un monje esenio recita en las mananas es "Dios es mi voluntad que se haga hoy en mi tu voluntad", es una oracion que tiene miles de anos y que habla de convertir nuestra vida en un instrumento para los designios de Dios para cada uno de nosotros y para los demas.

Armados con la gracia de Dios y sabiendo que El nos guia, podemos estar listos para su llegada, porque tendremos mas que suficiente aceite en nuestra lampara y habremos hecho uso de nuestros mejores talentos.

“Amado Jesús, esposo mío, llena mi lámpara con el óleo de tu amor, te lo ruego.” Amen

The truth is that the idea that Jesus returns and finds us "asleep" or doing nothing, scattered in our lives, causes us a little restlessness.

But today I would like to reflect on something more concrete, something that happens to us every day and is the daily encounter with our brothers, those Jesus of each day that we cross our path.

God gives us the possibility of exercising our charity, compassion and fraternal love at every step in our brothers but sometimes those strange moments happen that lead us to see the hand of God in a way a little more evident than normal.

It's those close encounters with people who need our help, our advice, a hug with affection, and sometimes it's 10 minutes and sometimes it will be weeks of prayer but for some reason God puts us there.

The first prayer that an Essene monk recites in the morning is "God is my will that is done in my will today", is a prayer that is thousands of years old and that speaks of turning our life into an instrument for God's designs for each of us and for others.

Armed with the grace of God and knowing that He guides us, we can be ready for his arrival, because we will have more than enough oil in our lamp and we will have made use of our best talents.

“Beloved Jesus, my husband, fill my lamp with the oil of your love, I beg you.” Amen
