Se que Tu eres el Santo de Dios

Lc 4, 31-37

En aquel tiempo, Jesús fue a Cafarnaúm, ciudad de Galilea, y los sábados enseñaba a la gente. Todos estaban asombrados de sus enseñanzas, porque hablaba con autoridad.

Había en la sinagoga un hombre que tenía un demonio inmundo y se puso a gritar muy fuerte: “¡Déjanos! ¿Por qué te metes con nosotros, Jesús nazareno? ¿Has venido a destruirnos? Sé que tú eres el Santo de Dios”.

Pero Jesús le ordenó: “Cállate y sal de ese hombre”. Entonces el demonio tiró al hombre por tierra, en medio de la gente, y salió de él sin hacerle daño. Todos se espantaron y se decían unos a otros: “¿Qué tendrá su palabra? Porque da órdenes con autoridad y fuerza a los espíritus inmundos y éstos se salen”. Y su fama se extendió por todos los lugares de la región.

Jesus went down to Capernaum, a town of Galilee.
He taught them on the sabbath,
and they were astonished at his teaching
because he spoke with authority.
In the synagogue there was a man with the spirit of an unclean demon, 
and he cried out in a loud voice,
"What have you to do with us, Jesus of Nazareth?
Have you come to destroy us?
I know who you are–the Holy One of God!"
Jesus rebuked him and said, "Be quiet! Come out of him!"
Then the demon threw the man down in front of them
and came out of him without doing him any harm.
They were all amazed and said to one another,
"What is there about his word?
For with authority and power he commands the unclean spirits,
and they come out."
And news of him spread everywhere in the surrounding region.

Meditacion:

Despues del descanso del dia del trabajador por aca, volvemos a las reflexiones del evangelio.

¿Qué tendrá su palabra? (Lucas 4, 36)

¡Qué buena pregunta! Ya fuera su enseñanza lo que los asombraba o la autoridad con la que daba órdenes a un espíritu maligno, algo tenían las palabras de Jesús que hacían que la gente escuchara con gran atención. Los especialistas en la Sagrada Escritura dicen que la Palabra de Dios actúa de dos formas: como luz y como poder. Hoy vemos un ejemplo de estas dos formas.

La Palabra de Dios es luz, pues revela el significado de las cosas, ilumina aquello que está en la oscuridad. Por ejemplo, cuando Jesús enseñó en la sinagoga de Cafarnaúm, las personas estaban impresionadas y reconocieron su autoridad, sí. Pero algo todavía más increíble sucedió después: un hombre empezó a gritarle a Jesús. Este hombre no irrumpió en la sinagoga; él había estado ahí todo el tiempo, pero algo hubo en las palabras de Jesús que expuso el mal que lo tenía encadenado. Quizás él no estaba consciente de su condición, pero las palabras de Cristo la sacaron a la luz e hicieron que el hombre actuara.

Segundo, la Palabra de Dios es poder pues hace que las cosas existan según la voluntad de Dios. En la misma sinagoga, no fue suficiente que Jesús expusiera la opresión de ese hombre, sino que quiso hacer algo al respecto. Por eso, le habló directamente al demonio y le ordenó que callara y saliera de aquel hombre. Y eso fue precisamente lo que sucedió, sin hacerle daño. ¡Qué alivio y qué libertad debe haber sentido el hombre! Las simples palabras de Jesús hicieron que su vida diera un giro total.

Tal vez la Palabra de Dios también quiera sacar a la luz algo incómodo que tal vez hay en ti, mientras lees estas lecturas. Pero, ¡no tengas miedo! Jesús quiere iluminar tu vida. Si su palabra descubre algo inesperado en ti, recuerda que él no te dejará ahí solo. Su palabra siempre está lista para liberarte y renovarte por completo.

La Palabra de Dios no es un simple principio teórico: Es una promesa de luz y poder. Cuando leas el Evangelio de hoy y veas al hombre que fue liberado de sus cadenas, recuerda que eso es exactamente lo que Jesús quiere hacer por ti. Así que acepta su Palabra, léela con calma y estúdiala, para que Dios te hable personalmente a ti.

“Señor mío Jesucristo, abre mis oídos para que yo escuche tu Palabra y me llene de luz.” Amen

What will your word have? (Luke 4:36)

What a good question! Whether it was his teaching that amazed them or the authority with which he gave orders to an evil spirit, something had the words of Jesus that made people listen with great attention. Specialists in Holy Scripture say that the Word of God acts in two ways: as light and as power. Today we see an example of these two forms.

The Word of God is light, because it reveals the meaning of things, illuminates what is in the dark. For example, when Jesus taught in the synagogue in Capernaum, people were impressed and recognized his authority, yes. But something even more incredible happened later: a man began shouting at Jesus. This man did not break into the synagogue; he had been there all along, but there was something in Jesus' words that exposed the evil that had him chained. Perhaps he was not aware of his condition, but the words of Christ brought her to light and made man act.

Second, the Word of God is power because it makes things exist according to God's will. In the same synagogue, it was not enough for Jesus to expose that man's oppression, but rather he wanted to do something about it. Therefore, he spoke directly to the demon and ordered him to shut up and leave that man. And that was precisely what happened, without harming him. What a relief and what freedom man must have felt! The simple words of Jesus made his life take a total turn.

Maybe the Word of God also wants to bring to light something uncomfortable that maybe is in you while you read these readings. But, don't be afraid! Jesus wants to enlighten your life. If his word discovers something unexpected in you, remember that he will not leave you there alone. His word is always ready to free you and renew you completely.

The Word of God is not a simple theoretical principle: It is a promise of light and power. When you read today's Gospel and see the man who was released from his chains, remember that that is exactly what Jesus wants to do for you. So accept his Word, read it calmly and study it, so that God speaks personally to you.

“My Lord Jesus Christ, open my ears so that I hear your Word and fill me with light.” Amen
