Faltas propias y ajenas

Lc 11, 42-46

En aquel tiempo, Jesús dijo: "¡Ay de ustedes, fariseos, porque pagan diezmos hasta de la hierbabuena, de la ruda y de todas las verduras, pero se olvidan de la justicia y del amor de Dios! Esto debían practicar sin descuidar aquello. ¡Ay de ustedes, fariseos, porque les gusta ocupar los lugares de honor en las sinagogas y que les hagan reverencias en las plazas! ¡Ay de ustedes, porque son como esos sepulcros que no se ven, sobre los cuales pasa la gente sin darse cuenta!"

Entonces tomó la palabra un doctor de la ley y le dijo: "Maestro, al hablar así, nos insultas también a nosotros". Entonces Jesús le respondió: "¡Ay de ustedes también, doctores de la ley, porque abruman a la gente con cargas insoportables, pero ustedes no las tocan ni con la punta del dedo!"

The Lord said:
"Woe to you Pharisees!
You pay tithes of mint and of rue and of every garden herb,
but you pay no attention to judgment and to love for God.
These you should have done, without overlooking the others.
Woe to you Pharisees!
You love the seat of honor in synagogues
and greetings in marketplaces.  
Woe to you!
You are like unseen graves over which people unknowingly walk."

Then one of the scholars of the law said to him in reply,
"Teacher, by saying this you are insulting us too."
And he said, "Woe also to you scholars of the law!
You impose on people burdens hard to carry,
but you yourselves do not lift one finger to touch them."

Meditacion:

“Dios no tiene favoritismos”... ¡Gran frase! ¿Y yo? Uff... ¡Yo sí tengo! Pero no sé por qué intuyó que aún siendo una gran verdad, Jesús lo profundiza tanto que lo revoluciona: Jesús sí tenía preferidos. ¿Qué es si no, un amigo? Un favorito, un preferido...

Por eso vuelvo a leer la Palabra de hoy e intuyo que el problema no está en tener favoritos sino en cómo actuamos con el resto: "pasáis por alto el derecho y el amor de Dios". Podemos sentirnos ofendidos, como el jurista del evangelio de hoy,  como si nos pareciera que los toques de atención de Dios sólo son para otros... ¡Qué curioso!.. No matamos, no robamos, las faltas que cometemos nos parecen menores... Y sin embargo, se nos olvida que lo que Jesús sigue sin soportar es nuestro empeño por endosar a otros cargas insoportables que nosotros ni tocamos: hacemos juicios,  pasamos por alto el amor, nos apegamos a perfiles inutiles y reglamentos que nos son misericordiosos con nuestros hermanos...

Y aca esta el fondo de la cuestion. Nuestra falta de amor hacia los demas, de aceptacion, no tenemos una mirada misericordiosa mas que con nosotros mismos y nuestras propias faltas.

Las palabras de Cristo a los fariseos sirven para analizar nuestra propia conciencia: ¿Damos con generosidad de nuestros bienes, tiempo y ayuda a quienes los necesitan? ¿Nos preocupamos de cumplir las obligaciones religiosas, pero guardamos rencores, sentimientos vengativos o de rechazo contra familiares o personas que creemos que nos han hecho mal? ¿Participamos en la Misa dominical, y luego hacemos negocios de dudosa honradez? Pero no debemos sentirnos desalentados por lo que Jesús nos dice. En realidad, nos ayuda a ver más claramente algunos de los elementos principales de una vida cristiana auténtica.

“Señor Jesús, concédeme la gracia de que mi vida sea un reflejo de la plenitud del Evangelio. Ayúdame a practicar la justicia y el amor de Dios.” Amen

"God has no favoritism" ... Great phrase! And me? Uff ... I do! But I don't know why he sensed that even being a great truth, Jesus deepens it so much that it revolutionizes him: Jesus did have favorites. What if not, a friend? A favorite, a favorite ...

That is why I reread the Word today and I sense that the problem is not to have favorites but how we act with the rest: "you overlook the right and love of God." We may feel offended, as the jurist of today's Gospel, as if it seems to us that God's attention is only for others ... How curious! .. We do not kill, we do not steal, the faults we commit seem minor to us. .. And yet, we forget that what Jesus still cannot bear is our commitment to endorse other unbearable burdens that we do not even touch: we make judgments, we ignore love, we stick to useless profiles and regulations that are merciful to us. with our brothers ...

And here is the bottom of the matter. Our lack of love for others, of acceptance, we do not have a merciful look but with ourselves and our own faults.

Christ's words to the Pharisees serve to analyze our own conscience: Do we give with generosity of our goods, time and help to those who need them? Do we worry about fulfilling religious obligations, but do we hold grudges, vindictive feelings or rejection against family members or people we believe have done us wrong? Do we participate in Sunday Mass, and then do business of dubious honesty? But we should not feel discouraged by what Jesus tells us. Actually, it helps us to see more clearly some of the main elements of an authentic Christian life.

“Lord Jesus, grant me the grace that my life be a reflection of the fullness of the Gospel. Help me practice the justice and love of God. ”Amen
