Ay de ustedes!

Lc 11, 47-54

En aquel tiempo, Jesús dijo a los fariseos y doctores de la ley: "¡Ay de ustedes, que les construyen sepulcros a los profetas que los padres de ustedes asesinaron! Con eso dan a entender que están de acuerdo con lo que sus padres hicieron, pues ellos los mataron y ustedes les construyen el sepulcro.

Por eso dijo la sabiduría de Dios: Yo les mandaré profetas y apóstoles, y los matarán y los perseguirán, para que así se le pida cuentas a esta generación de la sangre de todos los profetas que ha sido derramada desde la creación del mundo, desde la sangre de Abel hasta la de Zacarías, que fue asesinado entre el atrio y el altar. Sí, se lo repito: a esta generación se le pedirán cuentas.

¡Ay de ustedes, doctores de la ley, porque han guardado la llave de la puerta del saber! Ustedes no han entrado, y a los que iban a entrar les han cerrado el paso''.

Luego que Jesús salió de allí, los escribas y fariseos comenzaron a acosarlo terriblemente con muchas preguntas y a ponerle trampas para ver si podían acusarlo con alguna de sus propias palabras.

The Lord said:
"Woe to you who build the memorials of the prophets
whom your fathers killed.
Consequently, you bear witness and give consent
to the deeds of your ancestors,
for they killed them and you do the building.
Therefore, the wisdom of God said,
'I will send to them prophets and Apostles;
some of them they will kill and persecute'
in order that this generation might be charged
with the blood of all the prophets
shed since the foundation of the world,
from the blood of Abel to the blood of Zechariah
who died between the altar and the temple building.
Yes, I tell you, this generation will be charged with their blood!
Woe to you, scholars of the law!
You have taken away the key of knowledge.
You yourselves did not enter and you stopped those trying to enter."
When Jesus left, the scribes and Pharisees
began to act with hostility toward him
and to interrogate him about many things,
for they were plotting to catch him at something he might say.

Meditacion:

Hoy se celebra el Dia Mundial para la erradicacion de la Pobreza. Los invito a reflexionar que estamos haciendo cada uno de nosotros para ayudar a erradicar la pobreza en el mundo. Tambien se celebra a San Ignacio de Antioquia, Obispo y Martir, el que escribio “Soy trigo de Dios, y he de ser molido por los dientes de las fieras, para llegar a ser pan limpio de Cristo… Ahora empiezo a ser discípulo”.

Y ahora si, contemplemos este evangelio... Hoy leemos de La Palabra entre nosotros:

"La misión de Cristo era conseguir que todos se salvaran, y esto era lo que él quería para los fariseos también, aun cuando éstos actuaban como sus enemigos. Tanto amaba el Señor la palabra inspirada de Dios y al pueblo escogido que, cuando veía el deformado e incorrecto mensaje que enseñaban los fariseos, se sentía movido a denunciarlos y reprenderlos severamente.

No habían sido diferentes los antepasados de los fariseos y Jesús les recordó que en el pasado los profetas habían sido víctimas de la hipocresía y la ceguera de los fariseos de antiguo. Desde Abel hasta Zacarías (que fue asesinado en el templo cuando trataba de llamar a la nación a volver al culto verdadero), los jefes religiosos del pueblo habían rechazado la Palabra de Dios y habían preferido sus propias ideas. Aparentaban espiritualidad, pero trataban de sacar provecho personal de la religión y satisfacer sus deseos egocéntricos, en lugar de usar la práctica religiosa para escuchar y obedecer a Dios.

La sabiduría divina permanecía en medio de los fariseos, pero éstos no la veían; en realidad, trataban de destruir a Cristo, en lugar de aceptar sus enseñanzas y su ejemplo. Los fariseos se habían adueñado de la “llave de la puerta del saber”, pero no entraban en la casa de la sabiduría ni dejaban que otros lo hicieran. Jesús es “la puerta” (Juan 10, 7), la entrada a toda la sabiduría y el conocimiento de Dios. Al rechazarlo, los fariseos se privaban de la sabiduría y el conocimiento de Dios y, por ende, no recibían la obra de transformación que el Señor quería efectuar en ellos.

Desde la época de sus profetas, Dios venía preparando el camino para la salvación mediante la muerte de su propio Hijo, pero constantemente los jefes despreciaron los anuncios de los profetas. A nosotros se nos presentan las mismas alternativas, porque cada día Dios desea enseñarnos algo más por medio de Jesús. ¿Qué vamos a decidir? ¿Aceptar humildemente su guía, o bien, interpretar las Escrituras y mandatos de Dios según mejor nos convenga? ¿Seguir a Cristo y dejar que su vida nueva reine en nosotros, o continuar siguiendo la guía de nuestros antiguos rencores, apetencias y codicias? Son alternativas por las que cada uno tiene que optar".

“Espíritu Santo, Señor, condúceme a Jesús, para que él me lleve a la casa de la sabiduría y me transforme.” Amen

Today is the World Day for the Eradication of Poverty. I invite you to reflect on what each of us is doing to help eradicate poverty in the world. It also celebrates Saint Ignatius of Antioch, Bishop and Martyr, who wrote "I am wheat of God, and I have to be ground by the teeth of the beasts, to become clean bread of Christ ... Now I begin to be a disciple."

And now, let's contemplate this gospel ... Today we read of The Word among us:

"Christ's mission was to get everyone saved, and this was what he wanted for the Pharisees too, even when they acted as his enemies. The Lord loved the inspired word of God and the chosen people so much that, when he saw the Deformed and incorrect message taught by the Pharisees, he felt moved to denounce and severely rebuke them.

The ancestors of the Pharisees had not been different and Jesus reminded them that in the past the prophets had been victims of hypocrisy and blindness of the ancient Pharisees. From Abel to Zacharias (who was killed in the temple when he tried to call the nation back to true worship), the religious leaders of the people had rejected the Word of God and preferred their own ideas. They appeared spiritual, but tried to take personal advantage of religion and satisfy their egocentric desires, instead of using religious practice to listen and obey God.

Divine wisdom remained in the midst of the Pharisees, but they did not see it; in reality, they tried to destroy Christ, instead of accepting his teachings and his example. The Pharisees had taken over the "key to the door of knowledge," but they did not enter the house of wisdom or let others do it. Jesus is "the door" (John 10, 7), the entrance to all the wisdom and knowledge of God. By rejecting it, the Pharisees deprived themselves of the wisdom and knowledge of God and, therefore, did not receive the work of transformation that the Lord wanted to do in them.

From the time of his prophets, God had been preparing the way for salvation through the death of his own Son, but the bosses constantly despised the announcements of the prophets. We are presented with the same alternatives, because every day God wants to teach us something else through Jesus. What are we going to decide? Humbly accept your guidance, or interpret the Scriptures and commands of God as best suits us? Follow Christ and let his new life reign in us, or continue to follow the guidance of our old grudges, desires and greed? They are alternatives for which each one has to choose ".

“Holy Spirit, Lord, lead me to Jesus, so that he will take me to the house of wisdom and transform me.” Amen
