Semilla de mostaza

Mc 4, 26-34

En aquel tiempo, Jesús dijo a la multitud: “El Reino de Dios se parece a lo que sucede cuando un hombre siembra la semilla en la tierra: que pasan las noches y los días, y sin que él sepa cómo, la semilla germina y crece; y la tierra, por sí sola, va produciendo el fruto: primero los tallos, luego las espigas y después los granos en las espigas. Y cuando ya están maduros los granos, el hombre echa mano de la hoz, pues ha llegado el tiempo de la cosecha”.

Les dijo también: “¿Con qué compararemos el Reino de Dios? ¿Con qué parábola lo podremos representar? Es como una semilla de mostaza que, cuando se siembra, es la más pequeña de las semillas; pero una vez sembrada, crece y se convierte en el mayor de los arbustos y echa ramas tan grandes, que los pájaros pueden anidar a su sombra”.

Y con otras muchas parábolas semejantes les estuvo exponiendo su mensaje, de acuerdo con lo que ellos podían entender. Y no les hablaba sino en parábolas; pero a sus discípulos les explicaba todo en privado.

GospelMK 4:26-34

Jesus said to the crowds:
“This is how it is with the Kingdom of God;
it is as if a man were to scatter seed on the land
and would sleep and rise night and day
and the seed would sprout and grow,
he knows not how.
Of its own accord the land yields fruit,
first the blade, then the ear, then the full grain in the ear.
And when the grain is ripe, he wields the sickle at once,
for the harvest has come.”

He said,
“To what shall we compare the Kingdom of God,
or what parable can we use for it?
It is like a mustard seed that, when it is sown in the ground,
is the smallest of all the seeds on the earth.
But once it is sown, it springs up and becomes the largest of plants
and puts forth large branches,
so that the birds of the sky can dwell in its shade.”
With many such parables
he spoke the word to them as they were able to understand it.
Without parables he did not speak to them,
but to his own disciples he explained everything in private.

Meditacion:

Hace un par de dias el evangelio nos hablaba de la parabola del sembrador; era una vision desde el punto de vista de lo que nos ocurre cuando Jesus nos toca el corazon.

Hoy la parabola nos habla desde el otro lado del mostrador, de como crece el Reino de Dios en nosotros.

Jesús habla de una experiencia muy cercana a la gente: Un hombre siembra el grano. . . y la tierra da el fruto por sí misma. Con estas palabras se refiere al Reino de Dios, que consiste en la santidad y la gracia, la verdad y la vida, la justicia, el amor y la paz, que Jesucristo nos ha venido a traer. Este Reino ha de ser una realidad primero en cada uno de nosotros; después en el mundo.

En el alma de cada cristiano, Jesús ha sembrado —por el Bautismo— la gracia y la santidad, la verdad. A nosotros nos toca hacer crecer esta semilla para que fructifique en multitud de buenas obras: de servicio y caridad, de amabilidad y generosidad, de sacrificio para cumplir bien nuestro deber en cada instante y para hacer felices a quienes nos rodean, de oración constante, de perdón y comprensión, de esfuerzo por crecer en virtudes y en paz y alegría. El Reino de Dios —que comienza dentro de cada uno— se extenderá a la familia, al pueblo, a la sociedad y al mundo entero. Porque el que vive así, “¿qué hace sino preparar el camino del Señor. . . a fin de que penetre en él la fuerza de la gracia, que le ilumine la luz de la verdad, que haga rectos los caminos que conducen a Dios?” (San Gregorio Magno).

La semilla comienza pequeña, como un grano de mostaza que, cuando se siembra en la tierra, es más pequeña que cualquier otra semilla; pero una vez sembrada, crece y se hace el arbusto más grande de todos los del huerto. Esto es así porque la fuerza de Dios se difunde y crece con un vigor sorprendente. Como en los primeros tiempos del cristianismo, Jesús nos pide hoy que difundamos su Reino por todo el mundo.

La Escritura nos dice que la Palabra de Dios se propagó desde Jerusalén hasta las grandes ciudades del Imperio Romano pagano por la predicación de los apóstoles, discípulos y evangelizadores.

Posiblemente no tengamos nosotros el carisma ni la audacia de los primeros evangelizadores, pero sí podemos difundir las semillas de la Palabra de Dios que se nos han confiado. Deja que el Espíritu Santo te muestre cómo puedes ser sembrador de la Palabra de Dios.

“Espíritu Santo, Señor, guíame para compartir la buena noticia de Jesucristo con mis familiares y conocidos.” Amen

A couple of days ago the Gospel told us about the parable of the sower; It was a vision from the point of view of what happens to us when Jesus touches our hearts.

Today the parable speaks to us from the other side of the counter, how the Kingdom of God grows in us.

Jesus speaks of an experience very close to people: A man sows the grain. . . and the earth gives the fruit by itself. With these words he refers to the Kingdom of God, which consists of holiness and grace, truth and life, justice, love and peace, which Jesus Christ has come to bring us. This Kingdom must be a reality first in each of us; Then in the world.

In the soul of every Christian, Jesus has sown — through Baptism — grace and holiness, the truth. It is our turn to grow this seed so that it may bear fruit in a multitude of good works: of service and charity, of kindness and generosity, of sacrifice to fulfill our duty in every moment and to make those around us happy, of constant prayer, of forgiveness and understanding, of effort to grow in virtues and in peace and joy. The Kingdom of God - which begins within each one - will extend to the family, the people, society and the entire world. Because he who lives like this, “what does he do but prepare the way of the Lord. . . so that the force of grace may penetrate into him, may the light of truth illuminate him, make the roads that lead to God straight? ”(St. Gregory the Great).

The seed begins small, like a mustard seed which, when sown in the ground, is smaller than any other seed; but once sown, it grows and becomes the largest bush of all of the garden. This is so because the strength of God spreads and grows with surprising vigor. As in the early days of Christianity, Jesus asks us today to spread his Kingdom throughout the world.

Scripture tells us that the Word of God spread from Jerusalem to the great cities of the pagan Roman Empire by the preaching of the apostles, disciples and evangelizers.

We may not have the charisma or the audacity of the first evangelizers, but we can spread the seeds of the Word of God entrusted to us. Let the Holy Spirit show you how you can be a sower of the Word of God.

“Holy Spirit, Lord, guide me to share the good news of Jesus Christ with my family and acquaintances.” Amen
