Mt 6, 1-6. 16-18

GospelMT 6:1-6, 16-18
Jesus said to his disciples:
“Take care not to perform righteous deeds
in order that people may see them;
otherwise, you will have no recompense from your heavenly Father.
When you give alms,
do not blow a trumpet before you,
as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets
to win the praise of others.
Amen, I say to you,
they have received their reward.
But when you give alms,
do not let your left hand know what your right is doing,
so that your almsgiving may be secret.
And your Father who sees in secret will repay you.
“Take care not to perform righteous deeds
in order that people may see them;
otherwise, you will have no recompense from your heavenly Father.
“When you pray,
do not be like the hypocrites,
who love to stand and pray in the synagogues and on street corners
so that others may see them.
Amen, I say to you,
they have received their reward.
But when you pray, go to your inner room,
close the door, and pray to your Father in secret.
And your Father who sees in secret will repay you.
do not be like the hypocrites,
who love to stand and pray in the synagogues and on street corners
so that others may see them.
Amen, I say to you,
they have received their reward.
But when you pray, go to your inner room,
close the door, and pray to your Father in secret.
And your Father who sees in secret will repay you.
“When you fast,
do not look gloomy like the hypocrites.
They neglect their appearance,
so that they may appear to others to be fasting.
Amen, I say to you, they have received their reward.
But when you fast,
anoint your head and wash your face,
so that you may not appear to be fasting,
except to your Father who is hidden.
And your Father who sees what is hidden will repay you.”
do not look gloomy like the hypocrites.

Meditacion:
Amen

Ash Wednesday resembles the passage of a border, a boarding gate, a change of destination (for those who by trade or state of life touch us from time to time), if you want to get a hole in time. One before and one after. An access that pushes us to an area of faith without return to the previous instant; instant in which our routines, ties and apparent wills subject to the criteria and values of the world that we tread, have us plunged into the chaos of each day. A before and after the celebration of ash.
A before that we are lazy to leave: the streets of our life with their usual routes; our showcases attractive; our rhythms of work, leisure, passion, indifference, boredom, anxiety, talk, order and disorder… but it is the world that I know and that I believe to dominate at my whim, that we and I travel daily under the principle of “making the most of pleasure to life ”.
We would not want to arrive at that boarding gate where the nostalgia of memories of what is lived together in the feeling of abandonment of one's own securities; Leaving behind everything that monopolized our dedication and effort in exchange for starting a new time in life is always uncomfortable and uncertain. The farewells are uselessly lengthened, the tears if any, remedy the loneliness of the decision to be made to the necessary shipment in the response to the call made to us. And the door, the step, the moment, the change of life ... THE WEDNESDAY OF ASH are there irremediably.
The call to embark on a real conversion, change, interior, transformers of your world, significant in your life ... is there inescapably.
You can stage everything you want the battle between Don Carnal and Dona Cuaresma, but the moment and the decision-making process have no return. Prepare your “Alms, Prayer and Fasting” visa. There are no fakes, appearances, pretenses or works of poor quality; In the doorway is that Father who, without a "scanner," sees what is hidden in each heart.
Cheer up! The great adventure of Lent begins.
"Lord Jesus, help me to adopt the ordinary practices of Lent to get closer to you." Amen
