Mc 5, 21-43

En aquel tiempo, cuando Jesús regresó en la barca al otro lado del lago, se quedó en la orilla y ahí se le reunió mucha gente. Entonces se acercó uno de los jefes de la sinagoga, llamado Jairo. Al ver a Jesús, se echó a sus pies y le suplicaba con insistencia: “Mi hija está agonizando. Ven a imponerle las manos para que se cure y viva”. Jesús se fue con él, y mucha gente lo seguía y lo apretujaba.

Entre la gente había una mujer que padecía flujo de sangre desde hacía doce años. Había sufrido mucho a manos de los médicos y había gastado en eso toda su fortuna, pero en vez de mejorar, había empeorado. Oyó hablar de Jesús, vino y se le acercó por detrás entre la gente y le tocó el manto, pensando que, con sólo tocarle el vestido, se curaría. Inmediatamente se le secó la fuente de su hemorragia y sintió en su cuerpo que estaba curada.

Jesús notó al instante que una fuerza curativa había salido de él, se volvió hacia la gente y les preguntó: “¿Quién ha tocado mi manto?” Sus discípulos le contestaron: “Estás viendo cómo te empuja la gente y todavía preguntas: ‘¿Quién me ha tocado?’ ” Pero él seguía mirando alrededor, para descubrir quién había sido. Entonces se acercó la mujer, asustada y temblorosa, al comprender lo que había pasado; se postró a sus pies y le confesó la verdad. Jesús la tranquilizó, diciendo: “Hija, tu fe te ha curado. Vete en paz y queda sana de tu enfermedad”.

Todavía estaba hablando Jesús, cuando unos criados llegaron de casa del jefe de la sinagoga para decirle a éste: “Ya se murió tu hija. ¿Para qué sigues molestando al Maestro?” Jesús alcanzó a oír lo que hablaban y le dijo al jefe de la sinagoga: “No temas, basta que tengas fe”. No permitió que lo acompañaran más que Pedro, Santiago y Juan, el hermano de Santiago.

Al llegar a la casa del jefe de la sinagoga, vio Jesús el alboroto de la gente y oyó los llantos y los alaridos que daban. Entró y les dijo: “¿Qué significa tanto llanto y alboroto? La niña no está muerta, está dormida”. Y se reían de él.

Entonces Jesús echó fuera a la gente, y con los padres de la niña y sus acompañantes, entró a donde estaba la niña. La tomó de la mano y le dijo: “¡Talitá, kum!”, que significa: “¡Óyeme, niña, levántate!” La niña, que tenía doce años, se levantó inmediatamente y se puso a caminar. Todos se quedaron asombrados. Jesús les ordenó severamente que no lo dijeran a nadie y les mandó que le dieran de comer a la niña.

GospelMK 5:21-43

When Jesus had crossed again in the boat
to the other side,
a large crowd gathered around him, and he stayed close to the sea.
One of the synagogue officials, named Jairus, came forward.
Seeing him he fell at his feet and pleaded earnestly with him, saying,
“My daughter is at the point of death.
Please, come lay your hands on her
that she may get well and live.”
He went off with him
and a large crowd followed him.

There was a woman afflicted with hemorrhages for twelve years.
She had suffered greatly at the hands of many doctors
and had spent all that she had.
Yet she was not helped but only grew worse.
She had heard about Jesus and came up behind him in the crowd
and touched his cloak.
She said, “If I but touch his clothes, I shall be cured.”
Immediately her flow of blood dried up.
She felt in her body that she was healed of her affliction.
Jesus, aware at once that power had gone out from him,
turned around in the crowd and asked, “Who has touched my clothes?”
But his disciples said to him,
“You see how the crowd is pressing upon you,
and yet you ask, Who touched me?”
And he looked around to see who had done it.
The woman, realizing what had happened to her,
approached in fear and trembling.
She fell down before Jesus and told him the whole truth.
He said to her, “Daughter, your faith has saved you.
Go in peace and be cured of your affliction.”

While he was still speaking,
people from the synagogue official’s house arrived and said,
“Your daughter has died; why trouble the teacher any longer?”
Disregarding the message that was reported,
Jesus said to the synagogue official,
“Do not be afraid; just have faith.”
He did not allow anyone to accompany him inside
except Peter, James, and John, the brother of James.
When they arrived at the house of the synagogue official,
he caught sight of a commotion,
people weeping and wailing loudly.
So he went in and said to them,
“Why this commotion and weeping?
The child is not dead but asleep.”
And they ridiculed him.
Then he put them all out.
He took along the child’s father and mother
and those who were with him
and entered the room where the child was.
He took the child by the hand and said to her, “Talitha koum,”
which means, “Little girl, I say to you, arise!”
The girl, a child of twelve, arose immediately and walked around.
At that they were utterly astounded.
He gave strict orders that no one should know this
and said that she should be given something to eat.

Meditacion:

Hoy es uno de esos dias en que los evangelios son tan ricos, tan llenos de mensajes que uno no sabe ni por donde empezar. La primera lectura habla del dolor del Rey David ante la muerte de su hijo Absalon y si un dia tienen tiempo, lean esta historia que es muy interesante; el salmo de hoy es el 85 que canta "protegeme Señor porque te amo" y finalmente el evangelio... comencemos por alli.

Fijense que hay dos milagros en este evangelio. Uno, la resurreccion de la niña, es parecido a lo que siempre vemos... Jesus va y hace el milagro pero fijense el primer milagro, el de la mujer que estaba enferma. Jesus no hizo ese milagro, la fe de la mujer lo provoca e inmediatamente Jesus se da cuenta.

"Quien me he tocado?" pregunta. Para los discipulos, aun ignorantes de esas pequeñas leyes de la fe es como una pregunta en el aire.. "Maestro todo el mundo te empuja..." Pero Jesus apuntaba a otra cosa; cuando la mujer se acerca temblorosa y asustada, Jesus la tranquiliza "hija, tu fe te ha curado..."

Los tiempos de Dios casi nunca son los nuestros pero esta mujer no espero pacientemente a que Dios viera en su direccion, lo busco, sabia, tenia toda la fe respecto a que si solo lo tocaba seria sanada.

De la misma manera hermanos muchas veces nosotros mismos esperamos por el favor de Dios, esperamos y oramos pero deberiamos "ir al encuentro de Dios" y comenzar nosotros el milagro convirtiendo nuestro corazon, orando en cada momento, teniendo siempre a Dios como testigo diario de nuestra vida, de nuestros trabajos, de nuestras familias.

Pero si me siento a esperar que Dios mire en mi direccion y nada, no hago nada mas..  y va a ser complicado hermanos.

Hoy la verdad me quedo corto hermanos, la combinacion de lecturas y evangelios es demasiado rica, demasiado poderosa pero si tengo que escoger una lectura, me quedo con este milagro, donde la fe de la mujer movio el corazon de Jesus.

Que nuestra fe hermanos, mueva hoy la montaña del amor de Dios.

Today is one of those days when the gospels are so rich, so full of messages that one does not even know where to start. The first reading speaks of the pain of King David before the death of his son Absalon and if one day they have time, read this story that is very interesting; Today's Psalm is 85 that sings "protect me Lord because I love you" and finally the gospel ... let's start there.

Notice that there are two miracles in this gospel. One, the resurrection of the girl, is similar to what we always see ... Jesus goes and does the miracle but notice the first miracle, that of the woman who was sick. Jesus did not do that miracle, the woman's faith provokes him and immediately Jesus realizes.

"Who touched me?" question. For the disciples, even ignorant of those little laws of faith is like a question in the air .. "Master, everyone pushes you ..." But Jesus pointed to something else; when the woman approaches trembling and scared, Jesus reassures her "daughter, your faith has healed you ..."

God's times are almost never ours but this woman did not wait patiently for God to see in her direction, I look for him, I knew, she had all the faith that if I only touched her she would be healed.

In the same way brothers many times we ourselves wait for the favor of God, we wait and pray but we should "go to meet God" and begin the miracle by turning our heart, praying at every moment, always having God as a daily witness of our life, our jobs, our families.

But if I sit down to wait for God to look in my direction and nothing, I don't do anything else ... and it's going to be complicated brothers.

Today the truth I fall short brothers, the combination of readings and gospels is too rich, too powerful but if I have to choose a reading, I stay with this miracle, where the faith of the woman moved the heart of Jesus.

May our faith brothers, move the mountain of God's love today.
