Mc 7, 1-13

En aquel tiempo, se acercaron a Jesús los fariseos y algunos escribas, venidos de Jerusalén. Viendo que algunos de los discípulos de Jesús comían con las manos impuras, es decir, sin habérselas lavado, los fariseos y los escribas le preguntaron: “¿Por qué tus discípulos comen con manos impuras y no siguen la tradición de nuestros mayores?” (Los fariseos y los judíos, en general, no comen sin lavarse antes las manos hasta el codo, siguiendo la tradición de sus mayores; al volver del mercado, no comen sin hacer primero las abluciones, y observan muchas otras cosas por tradición, como purificar los vasos, las jarras y las ollas).

Jesús les contestó: “¡Qué bien profetizó Isaías sobre ustedes, hipócritas, cuando escribió: Este pueblo me honra con los labios, pero su corazón está lejos de mí. Es inútil el culto que me rinden, porque enseñan doctrinas que no son sino preceptos humanos. Ustedes dejan a un lado el mandamiento de Dios, para aferrarse a las tradiciones de los hombres”.

Después añadió: “De veras son ustedes muy hábiles para violar el mandamiento de Dios y conservar su tradición. Porque Moisés dijo: Honra a tu padre y a tu madre. El que maldiga a su padre o a su madre, morirá. Pero ustedes dicen: ‘Si uno dice a su padre o a su madre: Todo aquello con que yo te podría ayudar es corbán (es decir, ofrenda para el templo), ya no puede hacer nada por su padre o por su madre’. Así anulan la palabra de Dios con esa tradición que se han transmitido. Y hacen muchas cosas semejantes a ésta”.

GospelMK 7:1-13

When the Pharisees with some scribes who had come from Jerusalem
gathered around Jesus,
they observed that some of his disciples ate their meals
with unclean, that is, unwashed, hands.
(For the Pharisees and, in fact, all Jews,
do not eat without carefully washing their hands,
keeping the tradition of the elders.
And on coming from the marketplace
they do not eat without purifying themselves.
And there are many other things that they have traditionally observed,
the purification of cups and jugs and kettles and beds.)
So the Pharisees and scribes questioned him,
“Why do your disciples not follow the tradition of the elders
but instead eat a meal with unclean hands?”  
He responded,
“Well did Isaiah prophesy about you hypocrites,
as it is written:

This people honors me with their lips,
but their hearts are far from me;
In vain do they worship me,
teaching as doctrines human precepts.

You disregard God’s commandment but cling to human tradition.”
He went on to say,
“How well you have set aside the commandment of God
in order to uphold your tradition!
For Moses said,
Honor your father and your mother,
and Whoever curses father or mother shall die.
Yet you say,
‘If someone says to father or mother,
“Any support you might have had from me is qorban”’
(meaning, dedicated to God),
you allow him to do nothing more for his father or mother.
You nullify the word of God
in favor of your tradition that you have handed on.
And you do many such things.”

Meditacion:

Muchas veces cuando a las personas le va mal me consultan con preguntas como esta "Padre porque me va mal si yo soy muy creyente.. voy a misa los domingos, comulgo, oro todos los dias".

Las personas tienen la creencia de que hacer mecanicamente una serie de actos liturgicos los pondra a salvo de los problemas y "cumpliran" con Dios.

Al igual que estos fariseos y escribas que cumplian con todo lo que la Ley les dictaba. 

Pero seguir a Jesus no es solo cumplir "de la boca para afuera" sino hacer un acto real de cambiar "de adentro hacia afuera".

Fijense un detalle. En la presentacion de las ofrendas durante la misa, los sacerdotes decimos una oracion "Orad hermanos para que este sacrificio suyo y mio sea agradable a Dios Padre todopoderoso".

Porque decimos esto? Porque la misa es un acto colaborativo de los fieles y el sacerdote que intercede; si uno falta, no hay misa.

Bueno nuestra vida tambien es un acto colaborativo entre Dios y nosotros; si no estamos "en conexion permanente" con Dios, si no ponemos nuestra vida, nuestros trabajos, nuestras familias y, en especial, nuestros hijos en sus manos, no estamos haciendo nuestra parte. Nuestra oracion debe ser el acto final de una vida que camina en la gracia de Dios, no una mera continuacion de actos sin mucho sentido como ir a misa y sentarse a escuchar o solo repetir rezos sin sentir nada.

Hoy los invito a hacer un cambio real, profundo y total de sus vidas, para que sus oraciones y asistencia a las liturgias tengan un sentido profundo; no les digo que no les faltaran problemas pero como ya escribi unos dias atras si tenemos al Señor de Señores a nuestro lado de que temere? como dice el salmo.

"Señor convierte mi vida y mi corazon en una alabanza permanente hacia ti" Amen

People have the belief that doing a series of liturgical acts mechanically will save them from problems and "fulfill" God.

Like these Pharisees and scribes who fulfilled all that the Law dictated to them.

But following Jesus is not only to fulfill "from the mouth out" but to do a real act of changing "from the inside out."

Look at a detail. In the presentation of the offerings during the Mass, the priests say a prayer "Pray brothers so that this sacrifice of yours and mine may be pleasing to God the Almighty Father."

Why do we say this? Because the mass is a collaborative act of the faithful and the priest who intercedes; If one is missing, there is no Mass.

Well our life is also a collaborative act between God and us; if we are not "in permanent connection" with God, if we do not put our life, our jobs, our families and, especially, our children in their hands, we are not doing our part. Our prayer must be the final act of a life that walks in the grace of God, not a mere continuation of acts without much meaning like going to Mass and sitting down to listen or just repeat prayers without feeling anything.

Today I invite you to make a real, profound and total change of your lives, so that your prayers and assistance to the liturgies have a deep meaning; I do not tell you that you will not lack problems but as I wrote a few days ago if we have the Lord of Lords by our side to fear? As the psalm says.

"Lord turns my life and my heart into a permanent praise to you" Amen
