Jn 7, 40-53
En aquel tiempo, algunos de los que habían escuchado a Jesús comenzaron a decir: “Éste es verdaderamente el profeta”. Otros afirmaban: “Éste es el Mesías”. Otros, en cambio, decían: “¿Acaso el Mesías va a venir de Galilea? ¿No dice la Escritura que el Mesías vendrá de la familia de David, y de Belén, el pueblo de David?” Así surgió entre la gente una división por causa de Jesús. Algunos querían apoderarse de él, pero nadie le puso la mano encima.
Los guardias del templo, que habían sido enviados para apresar a Jesús, volvieron a donde estaban los sumos sacerdotes y los fariseos, y éstos les dijeron: “¿Por qué no lo han traído?” Ellos respondieron: “Nadie ha hablado nunca como ese hombre”. Los fariseos les replicaron: “¿Acaso también ustedes se han dejado embaucar por él? ¿Acaso ha creído en él alguno de los jefes o de los fariseos? La chusma ésa, que no entiende la ley, está maldita”.
Nicodemo, aquel que había ido en otro tiempo a ver a Jesús, y que era fariseo, les dijo: “¿Acaso nuestra ley condena a un hombre sin oírlo primero y sin averiguar lo que ha hecho?” Ellos le replicaron: “¿También tú eres galileo? Estudia las Escrituras y verás que de Galilea no ha salido ningún profeta”. Y después de esto, cada uno de ellos se fue a su propia casa.

“This is truly the Prophet.”
Others said, “This is the Christ.”
But others said, “The Christ will not come from Galilee, will he?
Does not Scripture say that the Christ will be of David’s family
and come from Bethlehem, the village where David lived?”
So a division occurred in the crowd because of him.
Some of them even wanted to arrest him,
but no one laid hands on him.
“This is truly the Prophet.”

So the guards went to the chief priests and Pharisees,
who asked them, “Why did you not bring him?”
The guards answered, “Never before has anyone spoken like this man.”
So the Pharisees answered them, “Have you also been deceived?
Have any of the authorities or the Pharisees believed in him?
But this crowd, which does not know the law, is accursed.”
Nicodemus, one of their members who had come to him earlier, said to them,
“Does our law condemn a man before it first hears him
and finds out what he is doing?”
They answered and said to him,
“You are not from Galilee also, are you?
Look and see that no prophet arises from Galilee.”
who asked them, “Why did you not bring him?”

Meditacion:
Has notado alguna vez que, en numerosas ocasiones, durante el ministerio público de Jesús, algunos quisieron arrestarlo o silenciarlo, sin embargo no llegó a pasar nada? Por ejemplo, sus paisanos nazarenos intentaron una vez arrojarlo a un precipicio, y más de una vez algunos judíos de Jerusalén tomaron piedras para apedrearlo (Lucas 4, 28-30; Juan 8, 59; 10, 31). Sin embargo, de una manera u otra, él pasaba en medio de la multitud y se alejaba, y al día siguiente seguía predicando y sanando gente.
¿Cómo lograba hacer esto? Por su propio poder divino y su sabiduría. Es muy simple: aún no había llegado su hora, así que no permitía que sus detractores obstaculizaran ni interrumpieran su misión. De hecho, él mismo lo explica en el Evangelio según San Juan: “Nadie me quita la vida, sino que yo la doy por mi propia voluntad” (Juan 10, 18).
Jesús no puede ser detenido ni por soldados, ni por sus familiares ni por todos los poderes que hay sobre la tierra o debajo de ella. Siempre ejerce un control absoluto y constantemente hace cosas que revelan más su propia identidad y por qué su Padre lo envió al mundo.
Aun cuando nadie ni nada podía impedir que Jesús llevara a cabo su misión de rescatar a la humanidad, es completamente posible que nosotros cerremos el corazón a su amor y los oídos a su Palabra. Tal vez tengamos una “multitud” de quehaceres hogareños, obligaciones, juegos deportivos u otras distracciones que nos impiden ponerle atención; o tal vez alguna área de pecado o egoísmo que nos nubla la vista y nos impide ver lo que él trata de hacer en nosotros.
¡No permitas que te suceda eso! Procura escuchar con una mente abierta y encontrarte con él con un corazón abierto. Si no has empezado a hacerlo aún, ahora es un buen momento para comenzar a rezar diariamente, y si hay algún hábito desordenado que te impida aceptar el amor de Dios, ve a confesarte. Haz lo que sea necesario para que puedas ver a Cristo y deja que él actúe en tu vida.
El Señor siempre va hacia adelante; siempre te está llamando e invitando a avanzar con él. Es un privilegio y un honor del que nadie debería privarse.
“Espíritu Santo, Señor, haz que las palabras de Jesús se graben en mi corazón para que nada me impida escucharlo y seguirlo.” Amen

Have you ever noticed that, on numerous occasions, during Jesus' public ministry, some wanted to arrest or silence him, yet nothing happened? For example, his Nazarene countrymen once tried to throw him off a cliff, and more than once some Jews in Jerusalem took stones to stone him (Luke 4:28, 30; John 8:59, 10:31). However, one way or another, he would pass through the crowd and walk away, and the next day he would continue to preach and heal people.
How did I manage to do this? By his own divine power and wisdom. It is very simple: his time had not yet come, so he did not allow his detractors to hinder or interrupt his mission. In fact, he himself explains it in the Gospel according to Saint John: "No one takes my life, but I give it of my own free will" (John 10:18).
Jesus cannot be detained by soldiers, by his relatives or by all the powers that are on or under the earth. He always exercises absolute control and constantly does things that reveal more of his own identity and why his Father sent him into the world.
Even though no one and nothing could prevent Jesus from carrying out his mission to rescue humanity, it is entirely possible that we close our hearts to his love and our ears to his Word. We may have a “multitude” of household chores, obligations, sports games, or other distractions that prevent us from paying attention to it; or perhaps some area of sin or selfishness that clouds our sight and prevents us from seeing what he is trying to do in us.
Don't let that happen to you! Try to listen with an open mind and meet him with an open heart. If you haven't started doing it yet, now is a good time to start praying daily, and if there is some messy habit keeping you from accepting God's love, go to confession. Do whatever it takes to see Christ and let him act in your life.
The Lord always goes forward; he is always calling you and inviting you to move forward with him. It is a privilege and honor that no one should deprive themselves of.
"Holy Spirit, Lord, make the words of Jesus engrave in my heart so that nothing prevents me from listening to him and following him." Amen
