Jn 13, 21-33. 36-38

GospelJN 13:21-33, 36-38
Reclining at table with his disciples, Jesus was deeply troubled and testified,
“Amen, amen, I say to you, one of you will betray me.”
The disciples looked at one another, at a loss as to whom he meant.
One of his disciples, the one whom Jesus loved,
was reclining at Jesus’ side.
So Simon Peter nodded to him to find out whom he meant.
He leaned back against Jesus’ chest and said to him,
“Master, who is it?”
Jesus answered,
“It is the one to whom I hand the morsel after I have dipped it.”
So he dipped the morsel and took it and handed it to Judas,
son of Simon the Iscariot.
After Judas took the morsel, Satan entered him.
So Jesus said to him, “What you are going to do, do quickly.”
Now none of those reclining at table realized why he said this to him.
Some thought that since Judas kept the money bag, Jesus had told him,
“Buy what we need for the feast,”
or to give something to the poor.
So Judas took the morsel and left at once. And it was night.
“Amen, amen, I say to you, one of you will betray me.”

When he had left, Jesus said,
“Now is the Son of Man glorified, and God is glorified in him.
If God is glorified in him, God will also glorify him in himself,
and he will glorify him at once.
My children, I will be with you only a little while longer.
You will look for me, and as I told the Jews,
‘Where I go you cannot come,’ so now I say it to you.”

though you will follow later.”
Peter said to him,
“Master, why can I not follow you now?
I will lay down my life for you.”
Jesus answered, “Will you lay down your life for me?
Amen, amen, I say to you, the cock will not crow
before you deny me three times.”

Meditacion:
Amen

When everything stops suddenly (not only locally, but globally), we can go through many different reactions. What we thought was essential is not so much. What we could not delay the date, is canceled. Weeks saying we need a break and when we have to stay home we get overwhelmed.
We can make Isaiah's lament our own: "In vain I have grown weary, in the wind and I have spent nothing on my strength." And for the most part, we would be right. We each live with our own worries, tasks, dreams, trauma ... We think we are different, but when it comes down to it, we all look alike.
Let's look at the disciples in today's Gospel: Judas, John and Peter.
- Juan, leaning on Jesus, calm in his privileged and friendly position, oblivious to the gravity of what was coming.
- Judas, locked in his own plan, that does not let him see further and pushes him like a robot to carry it out
- Peter, the good of Peter, so focused on himself and on his own strength and fervor that he does not listen to what Jesus is experiencing. She is only concerned with making it clear that he will live up to it.
Sometimes I think that we are not aware of our own fixations, of everything that centers us on ourselves and does not allow us to attend to the other. Be careful: because that not only happens to Judas, "the traitor"; It also happens to John "the beloved disciple" and Peter "head of the Church". That happens to all of us. That is why there is nothing wrong with us that from time to time something hits us inside -and outside- to exclaim from the heart: in vain I have tired, in the wind and I have spent nothing on my strength ... And my God was my strength, not myself ...
Because otherwise, we are in danger of sitting at the table and in the life of Jesus and not knowing anything ...
"Jesus, my Lord, forgive me for my faults, and help me to always trust in your great love and mercy." Amen
