Yo te he dado gloria

Jn 17, 20-26

En aquel tiempo, Jesús levantó los ojos al cielo y dijo: “Padre, no sólo te pido por mis discípulos, sino también por los que van a creer en mí por la palabra de ellos, para que todos sean uno, como tú, Padre, en mí y yo en ti somos uno, a fin de que sean uno en nosotros y el mundo crea que tú me has enviado.

Yo les he dado la gloria que tú me diste, para que sean uno, como nosotros somos uno. Yo en ellos y tú en mí, para que su unidad sea perfecta y así el mundo conozca que tú me has enviado y que los amas, como me amas a mí.

Padre, quiero que donde yo esté, estén también conmigo los que me has dado, para que contemplen mi gloria, la que me diste, porque me has amado desde antes de la creación del mundo.

Padre justo, el mundo no te ha conocido; pero yo sí te conozco y éstos han conocido que tú me enviaste. Yo les he dado a conocer tu nombre y se lo seguiré dando a conocer, para que el amor con que me amas esté en ellos y yo también en ellos’’.

Lifting up his eyes to heaven, Jesus prayed saying:
“I pray not only for these,
but also for those who will believe in me through their word,
so that they may all be one,
as you, Father, are in me and I in you,
that they also may be in us,
that the world may believe that you sent me.
And I have given them the glory you gave me,
so that they may be one, as we are one,
I in them and you in me,
that they may be brought to perfection as one,
that the world may know that you sent me,
and that you loved them even as you loved me.
Father, they are your gift to me.
I wish that where I am they also may be with me,
that they may see my glory that you gave me,
because you loved me before the foundation of the world.
Righteous Father, the world also does not know you,
but I know you, and they know that you sent me.
I made known to them your name and I will make it known,
that the love with which you loved me
may be in them and I in them.”

Meditacion:

La Palabra de Dios nos enseña que el eterno propósito de Dios quedó revelado claramente en la plegaria de Jesús. Cristo, el Hijo del Padre, que tuvo su propia gloria divina desde antes del amanecer de los tiempos, vino al mundo como encarnación viva del amor del Padre a la humanidad. Cuando Jesús derramó su sangre por nosotros en la cruz, fuimos hechos uno con el Padre, mientras el Espíritu Santo nos llenaba el corazón de amor divino. Ahora, que esperamos la segunda venida de Cristo, somos fortalecidos por el Espíritu Santo y llamados a compartir la amistad divina con Dios y el prójimo.

Jesús rogó para que los creyentes tuviéramos la misma comunión que él tiene con el Padre (Juan 17, 20-21), una comunión que podemos imitar. Para ello, debemos presentarnos humildemente ante Jesús, en oración, y pedirle una revelación de ese amor, que nuestra mente natural es incapaz de comprender: “Les he dado a conocer todo lo que mi Padre me ha dicho” (Juan 15, 15). El amor que une al Padre con el Hijo es la Persona del Espíritu Santo, que viene a ser para nosotros la fuente y experiencia del amor divino, cuando nos sometemos a su poder transformador.

Al disponernos a celebrar Pentecostés, la gracia se derrama sobre nosotros para que tengamos más fe en que el Espíritu Santo tiene poder para hacernos ver y experimentar la realidad de Jesús. Así podemos participar en una unidad viva con él y con nuestro Padre celestial.

El hecho de encontrarnos con Cristo en los sacramentos, especialmente en la Eucaristía, y dedicar tiempo a la oración y a leer la Escritura robustece y transforma nuestro ser interior, al punto de que podemos asemejarnos a Jesús, si imitamos sus cualidades de humildad y obediencia; así también desearemos la unidad que el Señor pidió en su oración sacerdotal, porque él quiso que sus discípulos manifestaran ante el mundo, por su unidad, el amor que él experimentaba con el Padre.

Y ¿cómo podemos demostrar este amor? Haciendo la voluntad de Dios, que conocemos a través de la Iglesia, y amando a Dios y al prójimo, ayudando al necesitado y perdonando las ofensas.

“Amado Jesús, ilumíname y dame fuerzas, Señor, para mantenerme siempre fiel.” Amen

The Word of God teaches us that the eternal purpose of God was clearly revealed in Jesus' prayer. Christ, the Son of the Father, who had his own divine glory from before the dawn of time, came into the world as the living embodiment of the Father's love for humanity. When Jesus shed his blood for us on the cross, we were made one with the Father, while the Holy Spirit filled our hearts with divine love. Now, as we await the second coming of Christ, we are empowered by the Holy Spirit and called to share divine friendship with God and neighbor.

Jesus prayed that we believers would have the same communion that he has with the Father (John 17, 20-21), a communion that we can imitate. To do this, we must humbly present ourselves before Jesus, in prayer, and ask him for a revelation of that love, which our natural mind is unable to understand: "I have made known to you everything that my Father has told me" (John 15:15). . The love that unites the Father with the Son is the Person of the Holy Spirit, who becomes for us the source and experience of divine love, when we submit to his transforming power.

As we prepare to celebrate Pentecost, grace is poured out on us so that we have more faith that the Holy Spirit has the power to make us see and experience the reality of Jesus. In this way we can participate in a living unity with him and with our heavenly Father.

The fact of meeting Christ in the sacraments, especially in the Eucharist, and spending time in prayer and reading Scripture strengthens and transforms our inner being, to the point that we can become like Jesus, if we imitate his qualities of humility and obedience; thus we will also desire the unity that the Lord asked for in his priestly prayer, because he wanted his disciples to manifest to the world, by their unity, the love that he experienced with the Father.

And how can we demonstrate this love? Doing the will of God, which we know through the Church, and loving God and neighbor, helping the needy and forgiving offenses.

"Dear Jesus, enlighten me and give me strength, Lord, to always stay faithful." Amen
