Mt 8, 23-27

GospelMT 8:23-27
As Jesus got into a boat, his disciples followed him.
Suddenly a violent storm came up on the sea,
so that the boat was being swamped by waves;
but he was asleep.
They came and woke him, saying,
“Lord, save us! We are perishing!”
He said to them, “Why are you terrified, O you of little faith?”
Then he got up, rebuked the winds and the sea,
and there was great calm.
The men were amazed and said, “What sort of man is this,
whom even the winds and the sea obey?”

Meditacion:
Y entonces, recurrimos a Dios.
No sabemos cómo va a responder a nuestras oraciones.

Let's take a look back, at the life of our family and at our personal life. Who has not ever felt like the disciples in the boat shaken by the storm? A storm at sea is not a laughing matter. It scares the bravest.
There are people who feel this way in the face of inclement life: unable to keep stable in the face of the blows that seem to follow one after the other without a solution to continuity. Illnesses, economic problems, injustices, family problems, infidelities ... Everything seems to come together to make life more difficult.
And so we turn to God. Surely, once, the simple, simple, urgent prayer of the disciples has come to mind, awakening Jesus to the cry of "Lord, save us, we are sinking!"
The Gospel tells of Jesus' reaction. He rebukes them saying: “Cowards! What little faith! ” Someone will think that he is scolding them, that he does not want them to come to him in those moments of difficulty, when they feel threatened by insurmountable forces. I prefer to think that it is the normal reaction of someone who is suddenly awakened during a good sleep. The most important thing is not the words of Jesus but what he does. Jesus stands up, rebukes the winds and the lake. And, as a result, great calm came.
There is no need to be afraid to complain to Jesus. We must not be afraid to repeat the prayer of the disciples when life stands before us like a bull threatening us with its horns. We should not be afraid to disturb Jesus with our cries and requests for help. What you should never do is jump into the water, despair. We must stand firm before the tribulation because Jesus is there, close to us. We do not know how he will answer our prayers. But, as we are people of faith, what we are sure of is that he will respond.
"Lord save us in this time of tribulation" Amen
