Fe

Mt 9, 18-26

GospelMT 9:18-26

While Jesus was speaking, an official came forward,
knelt down before him, and said,
“My daughter has just died.
But come, lay your hand on her, and she will live.”
Jesus rose and followed him, and so did his disciples.
A woman suffering hemorrhages for twelve years came up behind him
and touched the tassel on his cloak.
She said to herself, “If only I can touch his cloak, I shall be cured.”
Jesus turned around and saw her, and said,
“Courage, daughter! Your faith has saved you.”
And from that hour the woman was cured.
When Jesus arrived at the official’s house
and saw the flute players and the crowd who were making a commotion,
he said, “Go away! The girl is not dead but sleeping.”
And they ridiculed him.
When the crowd was put out, he came and took her by the hand,
and the little girl arose.
And news of this spread throughout all that land.

Meditacion:

Today's Gospel tells us about faith and how Jesus responds to faith.
First, a desperate but hopeful father asks for his deceased daughter "my daughter has just died but you come to lay hands on her and she will live again." And Jesus gets up and goes, does not wait, does not impose conditions because love moves on a plane of unconditionality, without expecting anything else. Jesus goes.
And on the way, we met this woman who had been ill for 12 years with an even deeper faith. "If I touch his cloak, I will heal." She doesn't think about asking him, she doesn't dare but her faith tells her that just touching it is enough.
We can imagine this scene, Jesus always moved with a crowd that wanted to see him, share his word, who was always by his side, it was not a very disciplined scene. And yet, the moment she touches his cloak, heals, and Jesus feels it, she knows that a miracle has occurred. In another version of the Gospel of Luke, Jesus asks "who touched me ??"; the tired disciples point out to him that they were in the middle of a crowd and everyone was touching him and Jesus responds "no, someone has touched me, I know that power has come from me".
Take a look, my brothers. With faith everything is possible; with faith, realities are changed, jobs are found, that rebellious son returns home, that addict changes his life, the family is recomposed and happiness reigns. Because when there is faith, there is trust and when there is trust, there is love and even Jesus cannot resist love.
And notice that even Jesus has some words of encouragement for this woman "Daughter, be confident, your faith has healed you."
And he continues on his way to resuscitate the girl. Again, Matthew's version is very summarized, in Luke's, nobody believes that Jesus can resurrect the girl but He says that she is only asleep. How many times our faith is also asleep or we believe more in our own strength to change a reality or get out of a problem, without thinking that with faith it is much easier.
Brothers, Jesus is our brother, the one who became one with us in everything except sin, let us have faith in Him, let us put our problems, our joys, every day in his hands. And surely we will hear in our hearts the same "Son, have confidence, your faith has cured you" Amen
