Mt 9, 32-38

GospelMT 9:32-38
A demoniac who could not speak was brought to Jesus,
and when the demon was driven out the mute man spoke.
The crowds were amazed and said,
“Nothing like this has ever been seen in Israel.”
But the Pharisees said,
“He drives out demons by the prince of demons.”
and when the demon was driven out the mute man spoke.
The crowds were amazed and said,
“Nothing like this has ever been seen in Israel.”
But the Pharisees said,
“He drives out demons by the prince of demons.”
Jesus went around to all the towns and villages,
teaching in their synagogues,
proclaiming the Gospel of the Kingdom,
and curing every disease and illness.
At the sight of the crowds, his heart was moved with pity for them
because they were troubled and abandoned,
like sheep without a shepherd.
Then he said to his disciples,
“The harvest is abundant but the laborers are few;
so ask the master of the harvest
to send out laborers for his harvest.”

Meditacion:
Amen

It is surprising that Jesus himself had to evangelize. Why not just supernaturally infused the knowledge of God into each person's mind? As a divine Creator he could easily force people to believe. They would have instantly known that he was God and that he could redeem them from their sins.
But the Lord's goal was not simply to convey information. Nor did he intend to overwhelm his people with prodigious works. What he wanted was to have a personal relationship with each one; He wanted them to love him for who he was and not for what he had said or what he could give them. So he chose humane and ordinary ways of approaching people. As Matthew tells us, Jesus Christ visited "all the cities and towns" (Matthew 9:35); He walked on dusty roads, went to the synagogues, approached the villagers and learned their stories and healed them.
That is a great example for us. We might think that we need a complicated plan to bring the good news to our friends or family, even to strangers. Or we could simply wish that God would instill in them the knowledge of the Gospel. But Jesus shows us how to start: through personal relationships.
How? Be present to the people, just as the Lord did. There are many who simply want someone to listen to them; have someone treat you with a little kindness. As you begin to do this, you will see relationships of trust begin to form.
It is in the context of a personal relationship that you can honestly talk about who God is in your life. When a friend asks you "why do you attend church?", You can explain that the Eucharist gives you spiritual strength and when your friend looks at the Bible in your car, you can tell him that you listen to God when you read the Scripture. .
Relationships: this is how it all begins; but it doesn't end there. With every friendship you make and every encounter you have, you can be sowing seeds that bring someone closer to the Lord.
“Lord, help me to approach people with kindness and attention. Open my heart and theirs to receive the good news. ” Amen
