Carguemos nuestra cruz!!

Mt 16, 24-28

En aquel tiempo, Jesús dijo a sus discípulos: “El que quiera venir conmigo, que renuncie a sí mismo, que tome su cruz y me siga. Pues el que quiera salvar su vida, la perderá; pero el que pierda su vida por mí, la encontrará. ¿De qué le sirve a uno ganar el mundo entero, si pierde su vida? ¿Y qué podrá dar uno a cambio para recobrarla?

Porque el Hijo del hombre ha de venir rodeado de la gloria de su Padre, en compañía de sus ángeles, y entonces dará a cada uno lo que merecen sus obras.

Yo les aseguro que algunos de los aquí presentes no morirán, sin haber visto primero llegar al Hijo del hombre como rey’’.

MT 16:24-28

Jesus said to his disciples,
“Whoever wishes to come after me must deny himself,
take up his cross, and follow me.
For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it,
but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.
What profit would there be for one to gain the whole world
and forfeit his life?
Or what can one give in exchange for his life?
For the Son of Man will come with his angels in his Father’s glory,
and then he will repay each according to his conduct.
Amen, I say to you, there are some standing here
who will not taste death
until they see the Son of Man coming in his Kingdom.”

Meditacion:

Me regalaron un libro hace una semana atras sobre Teologia Ortodoxa. Y leyendolo, encontre una frase muy interesante de los Padres del desierto, los primeros monjes. Dice "la fe es algo que no nace en la persona naturalmente sino que se desarrolla a lo largo de su vida". Muchas veces tendemos a pensar que nacemos "creyentes" y en realidad, a lo largo de nuestra vida, nuestra fe religiosa se desarrolla si encuentra un ambiente favorable... y a veces, incluso si el ambiente no es favorable.

El evangelio de hoy debe ser leido a la luz de esa fe. A primera vista parece duro, pesado, imposible... eso de "cargar la cruz y seguirme"... somos naturalmente medios perezosos para la cosa espiritual asi que si Jesus nos viene con eso de que perderemos la vida y la ganaremos, muchas veces preferimos no hacer o dejarlo para mas adelante.

Pero en realidad cada uno de nosotros "carga la cruz" cada dia de nuestras vidas, cuando nos despertamos... nuestra familia, nuestro trabajo, todo lo que hemos creado y vivido estan alli, esperando por nosotros.

Nuevamente me voy a un escrito de los Padres del desierto que dice que "vivir la vida sin fe y sin Cristo como el centro de ella, nos produce un vacio secular y arido". Se los traduzco... cuando "pasamos" por la vida sin poner a Dios como el centro de ella, somos como una rama de arbol seco... crecio, se reprodujo pero no logro dar mas que unos pocos frutos antes de secarse, mientras otras ramas siguieron dando sombra y fruto, esa se quedo alli, "alma de aguila, vida de gallina" como decimos en el claustro.

Debemos tomar nuestra "cruz" entonces como algo vivo, vibrante y llenarlo del amor de Dios porque entonces es cuando todo a nuestro alrededor pasa de ser algo pesado, gris y frio a algo bello, feliz y lleno de satisfaccion personal.

Como Padre? me preguntan a veces alguno de Ustedes... Una buena forma de comenzar es visitar al Santisimo (donde se pueda) y procurar confesarse, nuevamente, donde podamos. Todo Santo comenzo con un primer paso y una decision firme. Cada uno de nosotros esta llamado a convertir su vida en un milagro para grandeza de Dios.

"Dios mio ayudame a convertir mi vida en un reflejo de tu Evangelio" Amen

They gave me a book a week ago about Orthodox Theology. And reading it, I found a very interesting phrase from the Desert Fathers, the first monks. He says "faith is something that is not born in the person naturally but develops throughout his life." Many times we tend to think that we are born "believers" and in reality, throughout our lives, our religious faith develops if it finds a favorable environment ... and sometimes even if the environment is not favorable.

Today's Gospel must be read in light of that faith. At first glance it seems hard, heavy, impossible ... that of "carrying the cross and following me" ... we are naturally lazy means for the spiritual thing so if Jesus comes to us with that that we will lose our life and we will gain it, many Sometimes we prefer not to do it or leave it for later.

But in reality each one of us "carries the cross" every day of our lives, when we wake up ... our family, our work, everything we have created and lived is there, waiting for us.

Again I go to a letter from the Fathers of the desert that says that "living life without faith and without Christ as the center of it, produces a secular and arid emptiness". I translate it for you ... when we "pass" through life without putting God at the center of it, we are like a branch of a dry tree ... it grew, it reproduced but it did not manage to give more than a few fruits before it dried up, while other branches continued giving shade and fruit, that one stayed there, "soul of eagle, life of hen" as we say in the cloister.

We must then take our "cross" as something alive, vibrant and fill it with the love of God because that is when everything around us goes from being something heavy, gray and cold to something beautiful, happy and full of personal satisfaction.

As Father? Sometimes some of you ask me ... A good way to start is to visit the Blessed Sacrament (where possible) and try to confess, again, where we can. Todo Santo began with a first step and a firm decision. Each one of us is called to turn his life into a miracle for the greatness of God.
