Mt 19, 23-30
En aquel tiempo, Jesús dijo a sus discípulos: “Yo les aseguro que un rico difícilmente entrará en el Reino de los cielos. Se lo repito: es más fácil que un camello pase por el ojo de una aguja, que un rico entre en el Reino de los cielos”.
Al oír esto, los discípulos se quedaron asombrados y exclamaron: “Entonces ¿quién podrá salvarse?” Pero Jesús, mirándolos fijamente, les respondió: “Para los hombres eso es imposible, mas para Dios todo es posible”.
Entonces Pedro, tomando la palabra, le dijo a Jesús: “Señor, nosotros lo hemos dejado todo y te hemos seguido, ¿qué nos va a tocar?” Jesús les dijo: “Yo les aseguro que en la vida nueva, cuando el Hijo del hombre se siente en su trono de gloria, ustedes, los que me han seguido, se sentarán también en doce tronos, para juzgar a las doce tribus de Israel.
Y todo aquel que por mí haya dejado casa, o hermanos o hermanas, o padre o madre, o esposa o hijos, o propiedades, recibirá cien veces más y heredará la vida eterna. Y muchos primeros serán últimos y muchos últimos, primeros’’.

Jesus said to his disciples:
“Amen, I say to you, it will be hard for one who is rich
to enter the Kingdom of heaven.
Again I say to you,
it is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle
than for one who is rich to enter the Kingdom of God.”
When the disciples heard this, they were greatly astonished and said,
“Who then can be saved?”
Jesus looked at them and said,
“For men this is impossible,
but for God all things are possible.”
Then Peter said to him in reply,
“We have given up everything and followed you.
What will there be for us?”
Jesus said to them, “Amen, I say to you
that you who have followed me, in the new age,
when the Son of Man is seated on his throne of glory,
will yourselves sit on twelve thrones,
judging the twelve tribes of Israel.
And everyone who has given up houses or brothers or sisters
or father or mother or children or lands
for the sake of my name will receive a hundred times more,
and will inherit eternal life.
But many who are first will be last, and the last will be first.”

Meditacion:
¿Por qué crees que el Señor Jesús hizo una afirmación tan extraña e inquietante sobre la riqueza? ¿Es que despreciaba a los prósperos y aborrecía su bienestar? No, él tenía amigos ricos como José de Arimatea y Nicodemo, junto con un grupo de mujeres adineradas que apoyaban financieramente su ministerio (Lucas 8, 1-3). No pensaba que los ricos fueran inherentemente más pecadores, solamente estaba advirtiendo que el dinero y las posesiones pueden ser obstáculos para vivir en su Reino.
El Señor sabía que tener una mentalidad incorrecta respecto al dinero y las posesiones puede llevarte a negarle a Dios su lugar correcto en tu vida y así empezar a servirte a ti mismo o pensar solamente en tu comodidad y tu deseo de mayor seguridad financiera. O podrías distraerte fácilmente por los cuidados y las responsabilidades que vienen con una mayor riqueza. Por ejemplo, puedes invertir todo tu tiempo y energía preocupándote por tus cuentas bancarias e intentando proteger todo lo que tienes. O puedes adquirir un falso sentido de seguridad que lleva a un mayor sentido de orgullo y autosuficiencia. Ya puedes entender por qué el Señor hizo una advertencia tan fuerte.
Si estás bien financieramente, presta atención a la advertencia del Señor. Haz lo posible para mantener el dinero en la perspectiva apropiada. Sé agradecido por todas las bendiciones que has recibido e intenta ser un buen administrador de ellas. También recuerda que a quien mucho se le da, mucho se le pide. Así que utiliza tus recursos sabiamente, no solo por tu propio bien sino por el bien de otros. Sé generoso con la Iglesia y con los necesitados. Pon tu corazón en el Señor y procura darle gloria con todo lo que posees.
Por el contrario, si lo que ganas no te alcanza para llegar a fin de mes, no permitas que la ansiedad o las preocupaciones te abrumen. ¡Continúa siguiendo al Señor! Confía en su amor y su providencia, mientras trabajas para ordenar y acrecentar tus finanzas. Pídele también un corazón generoso, para que puedas dar a otras personas según tus posibilidades. El Señor derramará sus bendiciones sobre ti de acuerdo a sus ilimitados recursos.
“Señor Jesús, dame un corazón generoso, tú eres mi mayor tesoro.”

Why do you think the Lord Jesus made such a strange and disturbing claim about wealth? Did he despise the prosperous and loathe their well-being? No, he had wealthy friends like Joseph of Arimathea and Nicodemus, along with a group of wealthy women who financially supported his ministry (Luke 8: 1-3). He did not think that the rich were inherently more sinful, he was only warning that money and possessions can be obstacles to living in his Kingdom.
The Lord knew that having the wrong mindset about money and possessions can lead you to deny God His rightful place in your life and thus begin to serve yourself or think only of your comfort and your desire for greater financial security. Or you could be easily distracted by the care and responsibilities that come with increased wealth. For example, you can spend all your time and energy worrying about your bank accounts and trying to protect everything you have. Or you can acquire a false sense of security that leads to a greater sense of pride and self-reliance. You can already understand why the Lord gave such a strong warning.
If you are doing well financially, heed the Lord's warning. Do your best to keep the money in proper perspective. Be grateful for all the blessings you have received and try to be a good steward of them. Also remember that to whom much is given, much is asked. So use your resources wisely, not only for your own good but for the good of others. Be generous to the Church and to those in need. Set your heart on the Lord and try to give him glory with everything you have.
On the contrary, if what you earn is not enough to make ends meet, do not let anxiety or worries overwhelm you. Keep following the Lord! Trust in his love and providence as you work to order and grow your finances. Also ask for a generous heart, so that you can give to other people according to your possibilities. The Lord will pour out His blessings on you according to His unlimited resources.
"Lord Jesus, give me a generous heart, you are my greatest treasure."
