Una madre

Mt 15, 21-28

En aquel tiempo, Jesús se retiró a la comarca de Tiro y Sidón. Entonces una mujer cananea le salió al encuentro y se puso a gritar: “Señor, hijo de David, ten compasión de mí. Mi hija está terriblemente atormentada por un demonio”. Jesús no le contestó una sola palabra; pero los discípulos se acercaron y le rogaban: “Atiéndela, porque viene gritando detrás de nosotros”. Él les contestó: “Yo no he sido enviado sino a las ovejas descarriadas de la casa de Israel”.

Ella se acercó entonces a Jesús y postrada ante él, le dijo: “¡Señor, ayúdame!” El le respondió: “No está bien quitarles el pan a los hijos para echárselo a los perritos”. Pero ella replicó: “Es cierto, Señor; pero también los perritos se comen las migajas que caen de la mesa de sus amos”. Entonces Jesús le respondió: “Mujer, ¡qué grande es tu fe! Que se cumpla lo que deseas”. Y en aquel mismo instante quedó curada su hija.

MT 15:21-28

At that time Jesus withdrew to the region of Tyre and Sidon.
And behold, a Canaanite woman of that district came and called out,
“Have pity on me, Lord, Son of David!
My daughter is tormented by a demon.”
But he did not say a word in answer to her.
His disciples came and asked him,
“Send her away, for she keeps calling out after us.”
He said in reply,
“I was sent only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.”
But the woman came and did him homage, saying, “Lord, help me.”
He said in reply,
“It is not right to take the food of the children
and throw it to the dogs.”
She said, “Please, Lord, for even the dogs eat the scraps
that fall from the table of their masters.”
Then Jesus said to her in reply,
“O woman, great is your faith!
Let it be done for you as you wish.”
And her daughter was healed from that hour.

Meditacion:

En el Evangelio de hoy, vemos a una madre dotada de un poder diferente: una fe extrema en el Señor Jesús.

Esta señora estaba desesperada. Su hija estaba acosada por un demonio, y ella no sabía a quién más acudir. No sabemos por qué se acercó al Señor, tal vez había escuchado relatos sobre otras personas que habían sido sanadas, o que él había alimentado a una multitud con cinco panes y dos peces; quizás se había enterado de lo compasivo y generoso que era. Cualquiera que fuera el caso, ella se armó de valor para pedirle al Señor que la socorriera a pesar de ser gentil. Debe haber pensado que “si alguien tiene una respuesta, este hombre la tiene.”

Así fue como se acercó y le pidió al Señor insistentemente, hasta que literalmente tuvo que rogarle que sanara a su hija. Esta señora no estaba dispuesta a recibir una respuesta negativa, ni de los discípulos ni del mismo Señor. Demostrando una fe heroica, siguió pidiendo con persistencia el milagro que sabía que él podía hacer y ¡Jesús lo hizo!

Hermano, permite que la fe de esta madre te inspire. Tal vez tienes una hija o un hijo que lucha con su propia fe o con alguna adicción; o un nieto que necesita orientación en su vida, pero no acepta tus consejos. Si no puedes arreglar la situación ni sabes qué más hacer, pon tus inquietudes en manos del Señor al igual que lo hizo esta madre. No aceptes una respuesta negativa, ni permitas que el pesimismo de otras personas te desanime. Más bien, desecha cualquier pensamiento de duda, cualquier voz que te diga que eres demasiado débil, y ejercita tu fe extrema.

A veces perseverar es difícil, pero vale la pena. Reza todos los días, y nunca te rindas; incluye tus intenciones en cada Misa a la que asistas. Sigue pidiendo por el milagro que la otra persona necesita. Cree que Dios quiere hacer cosas buenas por sus hijos, incluidos los más jóvenes que son parte de tu vida.

“Señor, te ruego que acerques a mis hijos a ti.” Amen

In today's Gospel, we see a mother endowed with a different power: extreme faith in the Lord Jesus.

This lady was desperate. Her daughter was haunted by a demon, and she didn't know who else to turn to. We do not know why he approached the Lord, perhaps he had heard accounts of other people who had been healed, or that he had fed a multitude with five loaves and two fish; Perhaps she had found out how compassionate and generous he was. Whatever the case, she mustered the courage to ask the Lord to help her despite being gentle. You must have thought that "if anyone has an answer, this man has it."

This is how she approached and asked the Lord persistently, until she literally had to beg him to heal her daughter. This lady was not willing to receive a negative response, neither from the disciples nor from the Lord himself. Demonstrating heroic faith, she persistently asked for the miracle she knew she could do and Jesus did it!

Brother, let this mother's faith inspire you. Maybe you have a daughter or son who struggles with her own faith or with some addiction; or a grandchild who needs guidance in his life, but does not accept your advice. If you can't fix the situation or don't know what else to do, put your concerns in the Lord's hands just like this mother did. Do not accept a negative response, or allow other people's pessimism to discourage you. Rather, discard any thoughts of doubt, any voice that tells you that you are too weak, and exercise your extreme faith.

Sometimes persevering is difficult, but it's worth it. Pray every day, and never give up; Include your intentions at every Mass you attend. Keep asking for the miracle the other person needs. Believe that God wants to do good things for her children, including the youngest who are part of your life.

"Lord, I beg you to bring my children closer to you." Amen
