Jn 3, 13-17

En aquel tiempo, Jesús dijo a Nicodemo: “Nadie ha subido al cielo sino el Hijo del hombre, que bajó del cielo y está en el cielo. Así como Moisés levantó la serpiente en el desierto, así tiene que ser levantado el Hijo del hombre, para que todo el que crea en él tenga vida eterna.

Porque tanto amó Dios al mundo, que le entregó a su Hijo único, para que todo el que crea en él no perezca, sino que tenga vida eterna. Porque Dios no envió a su Hijo para condenar al mundo, sino para que el mundo se salvara por él’’.

JN 3:13-17

Jesus said to Nicodemus:
“No one has gone up to heaven
except the one who has come down from heaven, the Son of Man.
And just as Moses lifted up the serpent in the desert,
so must the Son of Man be lifted up,
so that everyone who believes in him may have eternal life.”

For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son,
so that everyone who believes in him might not perish
but might have eternal life.
For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world,
but that the world might be saved through him.

Meditacion:

Hoy leemos de "La Palabra entre nosotros":

Corazones, rosas rojas, pañuelos perfumados, diamantes: cuando alguien le da algo así de regalo a otra persona, uno sabe que es una expresión de amor.

Pero ninguno de estos símbolos llega a ser ni una sombra del verdadero amor que el mundo jamás ha conocido: la cruz de Jesucristo. Dios mismo se hizo hombre y sufrió una muerte inhumana en esa cruz para redimirnos y para que viviéramos con él, ahora y en la eternidad.

Pero recuerda, Dios no murió simplemente por la humanidad en general, él murió específicamente por ti. Jesús habría sufrido el atroz dolor en la cruz incluso si tú hubieras sido la única persona que hubiera existido en el mundo.

Entonces, ¿cómo responder a ese gran amor? Inicialmente uno pensaría en cosas que uno puede dar a cambio. Todos queremos amar a Dios y amar al prójimo como a nosotros mismos; pero esto no se trata solamente de lo que podemos hacer por Dios, sino también de recibir aquello por lo que el Señor Jesús murió para darnos. Gracias a su muerte en la cruz, ahora tenemos acceso a la gracia y la misericordia de Dios, la cual se derrama libremente sobre nosotros; no hay nada que debamos hacer para ganarla. Él la ganó a un gran costo para sí mismo, pues “por obediencia aceptó incluso la muerte y una muerte de cruz” (Filipenses 2, 8). Así es cómo él nos ama, así es cómo él te ama.

Luego, si abres tu corazón al Señor y permites que su amor fluya en ti podrás amar a otras personas al igual que él te ama a ti, sin condenación y sin juicio, sino con la voluntad de sacrificar tu vida por las personas que amas; con la voluntad de estar disponible, escuchar, ser paciente, soportar y sobre todo, perdonar.

La cruz es la máxima muestra del amor que Dios tiene por cada una de sus criaturas. Pero es más que una mera muestra, es una realidad que puedes vivir diariamente. En esta gran fiesta, dedica un tiempo para contemplar la cruz y dejar que el Señor te llene de su amor; luego conviértete tú mismo en un recordatorio del amor y la misericordia de Dios para todos los que te rodean.

“Señor Jesús, te alabo porque por tu santa cruz, redimiste al mundo.”

Today we read from "The Word Among Us":

Hearts, red roses, scented handkerchiefs, diamonds: when someone gives something like this as a gift to another person, you know it is an expression of love.

But none of these symbols is even a shadow of the true love that the world has never known: the cross of Jesus Christ. God himself became man and suffered an inhuman death on that cross to redeem us and for us to live with him, now and in eternity.

But remember, God didn't just die for humanity in general, He died specifically for you. Jesus would have suffered excruciating pain on the cross even if you had been the only person in the world to have existed.

So how do you respond to that great love? Initially one would think of things that one can give in return. We all want to love God and love our neighbor as ourselves; But this is not only about what we can do for God, but also about receiving what the Lord Jesus died to give us. Thanks to his death on the cross, we now have access to God's grace and mercy, which is freely poured out on us; there is nothing we have to do to win it. He won it at great cost to himself, for "by obedience he accepted even death and a death on the cross" (Philippians 2, 8). This is how he loves us, this is how he loves you.

Then, if you open your heart to the Lord and allow his love to flow into you, you will be able to love other people just as he loves you, without condemnation and without judgment, but with the will to sacrifice your life for the people you love; with the will to be available, listen, be patient, endure and above all, forgive.

The cross is the maximum sign of the love that God has for each of his creatures. But it is more than a mere sample, it is a reality that you can live daily. In this great feast, take time to contemplate the cross and let the Lord fill you with his love; then become yourself a reminder of God's love and mercy to everyone around you.

"Lord Jesus, I praise you because by your holy cross, you have redeemed the world."
