Dichosa mi madre!

Lc 11, 27-28

En aquel tiempo, mientras Jesús hablaba a la multitud, una mujer del pueblo, gritando, le dijo: “¡Dichosa la mujer que te llevó en su seno y cuyos pechos te amamantaron!” Pero Jesús le respondió: “Dichosos todavía más los que escuchan la palabra de Dios y la ponen en práctica”.

“Blessed is the womb that carried you
and the breasts at which you nursed.”
He replied, “Rather, blessed are those
who hear the word of God and observe it.”

Meditacion:

En su Evangelio, San Lucas otorga un honor especial a la madre del Señor, la Virgen María. En el primer capítulo, el ángel le dice a María que ella goza del favor de Dios e Isabel la proclama bendita entre todas las mujeres. Muchos capítulos después, en la lectura de hoy, una seguidora de Cristo de entre la multitud hace un comentario similar.

Como dijo la mujer, María verdaderamente tuvo el gran honor de llevar a Jesús en su vientre y amamantarlo; pero el Señor le dice que María tuvo un honor todavía más grande: escuchó la Palabra de Dios y la puso en práctica. No podemos imitar su primer ejemplo, pero sí el segundo

Todos conocemos la historia de la Virgen María. Siendo una joven adolescente, un ángel la visitó y le dijo que daría a luz al Mesías: “El niño que va a nacer será llamado Santo e Hijo de Dios” (Lucas 1, 25). Llena de dudas, preocupada por el posible aislamiento y por su hijo, sospechó que su vida nunca más sería la misma. Sin embargo, respondió con el deseo de obedecer.

Día tras día, año tras año, María continuó escuchando y observando el mundo del Señor. Ella confió en su plan incluso cuando este parecía ser contrario a su instinto maternal. Piensa en cuando Jesús se perdió en el Templo y ella no lo encontró por varios días. O cuando supo que él estaba siendo ridiculizado por los jefes religiosos y finalmente cuando tuvo que verlo morir como un criminal en una cruz. María entendió que el plan de Dios podía no ser lo que ella esperaba, sin embargo, continuó haciendo lo que Dios le pedía que hiciera: ser la madre del Señor.

En este día, pídele a Cristo que te ayude a seguir los pasos de María, su Madre y que también es la tuya. Especialmente cuando los planes de Dios no parecen coincidir con los tuyos y no sabes qué encontrarás más adelante en el camino, prepárate para rendirte a la voluntad de Dios. ¿Cómo? Permaneciendo fiel en las tareas cotidianas, siempre procurando estar cerca del Señor. Así, sin importar lo que estés viviendo, podrás experimentar la bendición de escuchar la Palabra de Dios y ponerla en práctica.

“Señor, ayúdame a imitar a tu madre, guíame para responder a tu Palabra en mi vida.” Amen

In his Gospel, Saint Luke gives a special honor to the mother of the Lord, the Virgin Mary. In the first chapter, the angel tells Mary that she is in God's favor and Elizabeth proclaims her blessed among all women. Many chapters later, in today's reading, a follower of Christ from the crowd makes a similar comment.

As the woman said, Mary truly had the great honor of carrying Jesus in her womb and nursing him; But the Lord tells her that Mary had an even greater honor: she listened to the Word of God and put it into practice. We cannot imitate your first example, but we can imitate the second

We all know the story of the Virgin Mary. As a young adolescent, an angel visited her and told her that she would give birth to the Messiah: "The child to be born will be called Holy and Son of God" (Luke 1:25). Full of doubts, worried about possible isolation and about her son, she suspected that her life would never be the same again. However, she responded with the desire to obey.

Day after day, year after year, Mary continued to listen to and observe the Lord's world. She trusted his plan even when it seemed to go against her maternal instincts. Think of when Jesus was lost in the Temple and she did not find him for several days. Or when she learned that he was being ridiculed by religious leaders and finally when she had to watch him die a criminal on a cross. Mary understood that God's plan might not be what she expected, however, she continued to do what God asked her to do: be the mother of the Lord.

On this day, ask Christ to help you follow in the footsteps of Mary, her Mother and who is also yours. Especially when God's plans don't seem to match yours and you don't know what you'll find further down the road, prepare to surrender to God's will. How? Remaining faithful in daily tasks, always trying to be close to the Lord. So, no matter what you are experiencing, you can experience the blessing of hearing God's Word and putting it into practice.

"Lord, help me to imitate your mother, guide me to respond to your Word in my life." Amen
