El canto de Maria

 

Evangelio

Lc 1, 46-56

En aquel tiempo, dijo María:
“Mi alma glorifica al Señor
y mi espíritu se llena de júbilo en Dios, mi salvador,
porque puso sus ojos en la humildad de su esclava.
Desde ahora me llamarán dichosa todas las generaciones,
porque ha hecho en mí grandes cosas el que todo lo puede.
Santo es su nombre,
y su misericordia llega de generación en generación
a los que lo temen.
Ha hecho sentir el poder de su brazo:
dispersó a los de corazón altanero,
destronó a los potentados
y exaltó a los humildes.
A los hambrientos los colmó de bienes
y a los ricos los despidió sin nada.

Acordándose de su misericordia,
vino en ayuda de Israel, su siervo,
como lo había prometido a nuestros padres,
a Abraham y a su descendencia,
para siempre’’.

María permaneció con Isabel unos tres meses y luego regresó a su casa.

LK 1:46-56

Mary said:

“My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord;
my spirit rejoices in God my savior.
for he has looked upon his lowly servant.
From this day all generations will call me blessed:
the Almighty has done great things for me,
and holy is his Name.
He has mercy on those who fear him
in every generation.
He has shown the strength of his arm,
and has scattered the proud in their conceit.
He has cast down the mighty from their thrones
and has lifted up the lowly.
He has filled the hungry with good things,
and the rich he has sent away empty.
He has come to the help of his servant Israel
for he remembered his promise of mercy,
the promise he made to our fathers,
to Abraham and his children for ever.”

Mary remained with Elizabeth about three months
and then returned to her home.

Meditacion:

“Dirige tu rostro hacia la luz del sol y no podrás ver ni una sombra”, dijo una vez Helen Keller. ¡Es una afirmación destacable viniendo de una mujer que quedó ciega desde la infancia! Aunque en realidad no podía ver la luz del sol, ella sabía que estaba ahí y también sabía que el sol podía superar cualquier sombra en su vida.

En el Evangelio de hoy, María ha fijado sus ojos en la fuente de toda luz, Dios Padre. Aunque podría haber estado preocupada por lo que sus vecinos podían pensar o cómo podría ella criar al Hijo de Dios, en su lugar decidió volver sus pensamientos hacia el Señor. Y por esto, su corazón estaba lleno de alabanza y regocijo.

¡Qué hermoso modelo para seguir! Al igual que María, nosotros también podemos decidir fijar nuestros ojos en Jesús y en su verdad que se encuentra en las Escrituras. Al reflexionar en todo lo que Dios ha hecho por nosotros, el deseo de alabarlo por su bondad por nosotros brotará naturalmente del corazón. Entonces podremos exclamar, junto con María: “Ha hecho en mí grandes cosas el que todo lo puede, Santo es su nombre” (Lucas 1, 49).

Desde luego, esto no significa que debemos ignorar las dificultades de la vida o barrerlas debajo de una alfombra. Debemos aceptarlas y enfrentarlas de la mejor forma posible, pero también debemos estar seguros de volver el rostro hacia la “luz del sol” del amor y la compasión de Dios. Si solamente nos concentramos en las dificultades, nos arriesgamos a llenarnos de ansiedad y desánimo y eso a su vez puede provocar que nos olvidemos de que Jesús siempre está con nosotros, listo para brillar en cada situación oscura.

Solamente faltan tres días para Navidad y Jesús vendrá otra vez a nosotros. Si has tenido un Adviento fructífero, alaba y agradece al Señor por sus bendiciones. Si tu Adviento no ha sido como lo que esperabas, alaba y agradece al Señor también.

Nunca es demasiado tarde para volver tu rostro hacia la luz de su amor. Nunca es demasiado tarde para proclamar junto con María la grandeza del Señor. Recuerda sus promesas y su amor; y su alegría brotarán en tu corazón.

“¡Mi espíritu se llena de júbilo en Dios, mi Salvador!”

"Turn your face into the sunlight and you won't be able to see a shadow," Helen Keller once said. It is a remarkable statement coming from a woman who has been blind since childhood! Although she actually couldn't see sunlight, she knew that she was there and she also knew that the sun could overcome any shadows in her life.

In today's Gospel, Mary has fixed her eyes on the source of all light, God the Father. Although she might have been concerned about what her neighbors might think or how she might raise the Son of God, she instead decided to turn her thoughts to the Lord. And for this, her heart was filled with praise and rejoicing.

What a beautiful role model! Like Mary, we too can choose to fix our eyes on Jesus and the truth of him found in Scripture. As we reflect on all that God has done for us, the desire to praise him for his goodness for us will naturally spring from the heart. Then we will be able to exclaim, together with Mary: “He who can do great things has done in me, Holy is his name” (Luke 1:49)

Of course, this does not mean that we should ignore life's difficulties or sweep them under the rug. We must accept and deal with them in the best possible way, but we must also be sure to turn our faces toward the "sunshine" of God's love and compassion. If we only focus on the difficulties, we risk filling ourselves with anxiety and discouragement, and that in turn can cause us to forget that Jesus is always with us, ready to shine in every dark situation.

Only three days until Christmas and Jesus will come to us again. If you have had a fruitful Advent, praise and thank the Lord for his blessings. If your Advent has not been what you expected, praise and thank the Lord as well.

It is never too late to turn your face to the light of his love. It is never too late to proclaim together with Mary the greatness of the Lord. Remember her promises and his love; and the joy of him will sprout in your heart.

"My spirit rejoices in God, my Savior!"
