Hacer la Obra de Dios

Mc 3, 31-35

En aquel tiempo, llegaron a donde estaba Jesús, su madre y sus parientes; se quedaron fuera y lo mandaron llamar. En torno a él estaba sentada una multitud, cuando le dijeron: “Ahí fuera están tu madre y tus hermanos, que te buscan”.

Él les respondió: “¿Quién es mi madre y quiénes son mis hermanos?” Luego, mirando a los que estaban sentados a su alrededor, dijo: “Éstos son mi madre y mis hermanos. Porque el que cumple la voluntad de Dios, ése es mi hermano, mi hermana y mi madre”.

Gospel

Mk 3:31-35

The mother of Jesus and his brothers arrived at the house.
Standing outside, they sent word to Jesus and called him.
A crowd seated around him told him,
“Your mother and your brothers and your sisters
are outside asking for you.”
But he said to them in reply,
“Who are my mother and my brothers?”
And looking around at those seated in the circle he said,
“Here are my mother and my brothers.
For whoever does the will of God
is my brother and sister and mother.”

Meditacion:

"El que cumple la voluntad de Dios, ese es mi padre y mi hermano". Jesus es tajante y terminante. Seguirlo en su camino es algo personal y unico y no siempre estara de acuerdo con los modelos que vivimos o pensamos normalmente. A veces en ese buscar y elegir, incluso la familia quedara de lado.

Y es que la salvacion de cada uno es algo personal y unico. Pero al mismo tiempo, no nos salvamos solos sino por el amor que tenemos para nuestros hermanos. A veces Dios escribe derecho en reglones torcidos.

Mas adelante el mismo Jesus diria que su doctrina hara que muchos dejen a sus familias, que se peleen padres con hijos y es que es tan decisivamente diferente a nuestra forma de vivir que si uno realmente desea vivir de acuerdo al Evangelio y aceptar la llamada de Jesus como vimos el domingo, a veces la conversion nos lleva por caminos nuevos y diferentes, alejandonos de toda una manera de vivir, perdiendo en el camino amigos y familia que por alguna u otra razon pueda ser nocivos para nosotros.

Hoy se celebran a los Santos Timoteo y Tito, primeros seguidores de San Pablo. Cuenta la historia que San Timoteo le costaba mucho seguir y comprender las palabras de San Pablo pero con paciencia y oracion, llego a ser Obispo y segun el mismo Santo "uno de mis mejores seguidores" y aun en su carta le dice "No te avergüences, pues, de dar testimonio de nuestro Señor, ni te avergüences de mí, que estoy preso por su causa. Al contrario, comparte conmigo los sufrimientos por la predicación del Evangelio, sostenido por la fuerza de Dios"  De la misma manera hermanos los invito a hacer la Obra de Dios juntos, haciendo buenas obras cada dia y en cada momento. Amen

"The one who does the will of God, that is my father and my brother." Jesus is blunt and final. Following him on his path is something personal and unique and will not always agree with the models we normally live or think of. Sometimes in that searching and choosing, even the family will be left out.

And it is that the salvation of each one is something personal and unique. But at the same time, we are not saved by ourselves but by the love we have for our brothers. Sometimes God writes straight on crooked lines.

Later, Jesus himself would say that his doctrine will make many leave their families, that parents fight with children, and it is so decisively different from our way of life that if one really wants to live according to the Gospel and accept the call of Jesus, as we saw on Sunday, sometimes conversion takes us along new and different paths, distancing ourselves from a whole way of life, losing friends and family along the way that for some reason or another could be harmful to us.

Today we celebrate Saints Timothy and Titus, the first followers of Saint Paul. The story goes that Saint Timothy had a hard time following and understanding the words of Saint Paul but with patience and prayer, he became Bishop and according to the Saint himself "one of my best followers" and even in his letter he says "Do not be ashamed Therefore, to bear witness to our Lord, do not be ashamed of me, I am a prisoner for his cause. On the contrary, share with me the sufferings for the preaching of the Gospel, sustained by the strength of God. "In the same way, brothers, I invite you to do the Work of God together, doing good works every day and every moment. Amen
