Sal para el mundo

Mc 9, 41-50

En aquel tiempo, Jesús dijo a sus discípulos: "Todo aquel que les dé a beber un vaso de agua por el hecho de que son de Cristo, les aseguro que no se quedará sin recompensa.

Al que sea ocasión de pecado para esta gente sencilla que cree en mí, más le valdría que le pusieran al cuello una de esas enormes piedras de molino y lo arrojaran al mar.

Si tu mano te es ocasión de pecado, córtatela; pues más te vale entrar manco en la vida eterna, que ir con tus dos manos al lugar de castigo, al fuego que no se apaga. Y si tu pie te es ocasión de pecado, córtatelo; pues más te vale entrar cojo en la vida eterna, que con tus dos pies ser arrojado al lugar de castigo. Y si tu ojo te es ocasión de pecado, sácatelo; pues más te vale entrar tuerto en el Reino de Dios, que ser arrojado con tus dos ojos al lugar de castigo, donde el gusano no muere y el fuego no se apaga.
Todos serán salados con fuego. La sal es cosa buena; pero si pierde su sabor, ¿con qué se lo volverán a dar? Tengan sal en ustedes y tengan paz los unos con los otros".

GospelMK 9:41-50

Jesus said to his disciples:
"Anyone who gives you a cup of water to drink
because you belong to Christ,
amen, I say to you, will surely not lose his reward.

"Whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, 
it would be better for him if a great millstone
were put around his neck
and he were thrown into the sea.
If your hand causes you to sin, cut it off.
It is better for you to enter into life maimed 
than with two hands to go into Gehenna,
into the unquenchable fire.
And if your foot causes you to sin, cut if off.
It is better for you to enter into life crippled 
than with two feet to be thrown into Gehenna.
And if your eye causes you to sin, pluck it out.
Better for you to enter into the Kingdom of God with one eye
than with two eyes to be thrown into Gehenna,
where their worm does not die, and the fire is not quenched.
"Everyone will be salted with fire.
Salt is good, but if salt becomes insipid,
with what will you restore its flavor?
Keep salt in yourselves and you will have peace with one another."

Meditacion:

Estamos ya en el tiempo ordinario luego de haber celebrado la fiesta de Pentecostés el Domingo pasado y en el Evangelio que hoy la Iglesia nos propone para rezar y hacer carne, descubrimos que es una buena noticia con un lenguaje un poco duro, Jesús nos habla siempre del amor, pero en este caso, que sin duda está presente (porque el amor siempre está presente en Jesús) nos habla de prioridad: nada hay que anteponer a la vida del Reino Dios y a su creciemiento".

Son valiosos y necesarios nuestros miembros, pero el Señor nos recuerda que hay que estar dispuestos a dejarnos podar, dispuestos a renunciar, dispuestos a dejarnos arrancar de cuajo todas aquellas cosas que nos separan de Dios. Si tenemos el corazón en Jesús, nuestra fe será fuerte y madura, por lo tanto estaremos dispuestos para la valentía de la poda y así vivir esta exigencia del Reino.

Cuando el texto continúa y nos habla de la sal, nos está hablando también de la coherencia, invitándonos a pensar que cuando somos cristianos insípidos, no hemos sido cristianos en serio. Cuando Jesús dice "Que haya sal entre ustedes" , a mi entender está diciéndonos que "haya coherencia, convicción y vida cristiana en serio entre ustedes", de esa manera esa realidad nos hará vivir en paz de todos.

Cuanto mal podemos hacer cuando no somos lo que debemos ser dejándonos contagiar por criterios y antivalores del mundo perdiendo nuestra condición de ser aquello que en la realidad en que nos toca, ya sea con los amigos, la familia, estamos llamados a hacer presentes el Reino de Dios con nuestras obras y nuestra vida.

Pidámosle a Jesús que nos ayude a entrar a su Reino quizás sin algún miembro pero entrar y convertirnos verdaderamente, dejándonos podar sabiendo que la poda de Jesús es siempre desde el amor y por lo tanto es una poda fecunda, para el bien.

Pidamos a Jesús que no seamos insípidos, que haya sal en nuestra vida poniendo sal en nuestras relaciones, en nuestra coherencia, en nuestra vida cristiana. 

Por otra parte hoy se celebra la fiesta de Maria en su advocacion de Auxiliadora. Pidamos a nuestra madre interceda por nosotros para que nos ayude en esta mision de ser "sal para el mundo". Amen

Our members are valuable and necessary, but the Lord reminds us that we must be willing to let ourselves be pruned, ready to give up, willing to let ourselves get rid of all those things that separate us from God. If we have the heart in Jesus, our faith will be strong and mature, therefore we will be ready for the courage of pruning and thus live this demand of the Kingdom.

When the text continues and talks about salt, it is also talking about coherence, inviting us to think that when we are insipid Christians, we have not been Christians seriously. When Jesus says "Let there be between you", in my opinion he is telling us that "there is coherence, conviction and Christian life in serious among you", that way that reality will make us live in peace of all.

How much evil can we do when we are not what we should be letting ourselves be infected by criteria and anti-values ​​of the world losing our condition of being what in the reality in which it touches us, whether with friends, family, we are called to make present the Kingdom of God with our works and our life.

Let us ask Jesus to help us enter his Kingdom perhaps without a member but to enter and become truly, allowing us to prune knowing that the pruning of Jesus is always from love and therefore is a fruitful pruning, for good.

Let us ask Jesus not to be insipid, to have salt in our lives by putting salt in our relationships, in our coherence, in our Christian life.

On the other hand today the feast of Mary is celebrated in her advocacy of Help of Christians. Let us ask our mother to intercede for us to help us in this mission of being "salt for the world". Amen
