Mc 12, 18-27
En aquel tiempo, fueron a ver a Jesús algunos de los saduceos, los cuales afirman que los muertos no resucitan, y le dijeron: “Maestro, Moisés nos dejó escrito que si un hombre muere dejando a su viuda sin hijos, que la tome por mujer el hermano del que murió, para darle descendencia a su hermano. Había una vez siete hermanos, el primero de los cuales se casó y murió sin dejar hijos. El segundo se casó con la viuda y murió también, sin dejar hijos; lo mismo el tercero. Los siete se casaron con ella y ninguno de ellos dejó descendencia. Por último, después de todos, murió también la mujer. El día de la resurrección, cuando resuciten de entre los muertos, ¿de cuál de los siete será mujer? Porque fue mujer de los siete”.
Jesús les contestó: “Están en un error, porque no entienden las Escrituras ni el poder de Dios. Pues cuando resuciten de entre los muertos, ni los hombres tendrán mujer ni las mujeres marido, sino que serán como los ángeles del cielo. Y en cuanto al hecho de que los muertos resucitan, ¿acaso no han leído en el libro de Moisés aquel pasaje de la zarza, en que Dios le dijo: Yo soy el Dios de Abraham, el Dios de Isaac, el Dios de Jacob? Dios no es Dios de muertos, sino de vivos. Están, pues, muy equivocados”.
Jesús les contestó: “Están en un error, porque no entienden las Escrituras ni el poder de Dios. Pues cuando resuciten de entre los muertos, ni los hombres tendrán mujer ni las mujeres marido, sino que serán como los ángeles del cielo. Y en cuanto al hecho de que los muertos resucitan, ¿acaso no han leído en el libro de Moisés aquel pasaje de la zarza, en que Dios le dijo: Yo soy el Dios de Abraham, el Dios de Isaac, el Dios de Jacob? Dios no es Dios de muertos, sino de vivos. Están, pues, muy equivocados”.

his brother must take the wife

The first married a woman and died, leaving no descendants.

Last of all the woman also died.
At the resurrection when they arise whose wife will she be?
For all seven had been married to her."

because you do not know the Scriptures or the power of God?
When they rise from the dead,
they neither marry nor are given in marriage,
but they are like the angels in heaven.
As for the dead being raised,
have you not read in the Book of Moses,
in the passage about the bush, how God told him,
I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac,
and the God of Jacob?
He is not God of the dead but of the living.
You are greatly misled."

Meditacion:
Estaba leyendo el evangelio de hoy y me parecia que a veces las personas somos como los saduceos.
Los saduceos se encargaban mas que todo de la administracion del templo pero tenian mucha influencia en el pueblo.
Lamentablemente para ellos, se consideraban superiores y dotados de un conocimiento que el resto del pueblo no comprendia o podia acceder, eran los privilegiados.
Y vienen a Jesus con este ejemplo rebuscado, un silogismo destinado a confundir y encontrar un punto flojo en el discurso de nuestro Señor.
Y aqui me detengo para dejar de lado todo lo sabroso respecto a la pobre viuda enviudando una y otra vez y casandose con los hermanos como era tradicion entre los judios.. concentremonos en el principio y el final... por un lado una pregunta capciosa que termina con "que dicen que no hay resurreccion" y la respuesta inmediata de Jesus "Dios no es Dios de muertos sino de vivos. Estan muy equivocados".
Si nos inquieta más la curiosidad por saber cómo quedarán las parejas en la eternidad que saber que Jesús nos ve muy equivocados, tenemos un problema serio. La cuestión no es sólo si creemos que haya vida después de la muerte, sino cuánta muerte estamos metiendo en esta vida. O cuánta vida estamos dejando morir en nosotros y a nuestro alrededor.
Quizá algo de esto estaba detrás de la recomendación que Pablo hace a Timoteo: “reaviva el don de Dios que recibiste, tu vocación, tu misión”. ¡Reaviva!, ¡no lo dejes morir!, ¡no te rindas!, ¡fíate!
Creer en un Dios de vivos es creer en la vida. Ahora y siempre. Porque es la misma, la vida de Dios que no acaba nunca. Esa vida eterna que esperamos y que ya ha comenzado aquí, ya se nos ha regalado como en semilla y todos sabemos, que ningún árbol llega a ser frondoso y sano si no se ha cuidado la semilla.
¡Que difícil es fiarse del futuro de alguien pero no confiar en su presente, por pobre e imperfecto que ahora sea! ¡Qué difícil poner nuestra esperanza en la vida futura si somos incapaces de esperar con otros y por otros aquí y ahora!
El día que dejemos de esperar, de amar, de creer, ese día estaremos muertos. Y entonces, dará igual cualquier disquisición teológica y espiritual que hagamos sobre el cielo y el Dios eterno. Estaremos muy equivocados. Y lo que es peor -porque eso no ocurre de un día para otro-, nos habremos dejado morir poco a poco. Ayudémonos para que eso no pase entre nosotros. Amen

I was reading the gospel today and it seemed to me that sometimes people are like the Sadducees.The Sadducees were in charge more than everything of the administration of the temple but they had much influence in the town.Unfortunately for them, they considered themselves superior and endowed with a knowledge that the rest of the people did not understand or could access, they were privileged.And they come to Jesus with this elaborate example, a syllogism destined to confuse and find a weak point in the discourse of our Lord.And here I stop to put aside everything tasty about the poor widow widow over and over again and marrying the brothers as was tradition among Jews ... let's concentrate on the beginning and the end ... on the one hand a trick question that ends with "they say there is no resurrection" and the immediate response of Jesus "God is not the God of the dead but of the living, they are very wrong".If we are more disturbed by the curiosity to know how couples will be in eternity than to know that Jesus sees us very wrong, we have a serious problem. Rekindle! Do not let it die! Do not give up! Trust!To believe in a God of the living is to believe in life. Now and always. Because it is the same, the life of God that never ends. That eternal life that we hope and that has already begun here, has already been given to us as a seed and we all know that no tree becomes leafy and healthy if the seed has not been taken care of.How difficult it is to trust someone's future but not trust in their present, however poor and imperfect it may be! How difficult to put our hope in the future life if we are unable to wait with others and for others here and now!The day we stop waiting, to love, to believe, that day we will be dead. And then, it will not matter any theological and spiritual disquisition we make about heaven and the eternal God. We will be very wrong. And what is worse - because that does not happen overnight - we will have let ourselves die little by little. Let's help so that does not happen between us. Amen
