Busquen las ovejas perdidas

Mt 10, 1-7

En aquel tiempo, llamando Jesús a sus doce discípulos, les dio poder para expulsar a los espíritus impuros y curar toda clase de enfermedades y dolencias.

Estos son los nombres de los doce apóstoles: el primero de todos, Simón, llamado Pedro, y su hermano Andrés; Santiago y su hermano Juan, hijos del Zebedeo; Felipe y Bartolomé; Tomás y Mateo, el publicano; Santiago, hijo de Alfeo, y Tadeo; Simón, el cananeo, y Judas Iscariote, que fue el traidor.

A estos doce los envió Jesús con estas instrucciones: "No vayan a tierra de paganos, ni entren en ciudades de samaritanos. Vayan más bien en busca de las ovejas perdidas de la casa de Israel. Vayan y proclamen por el camino que ya se acerca el Reino de los cielos".

and gave them authority over unclean spirits to drive them out
and to cure every disease and every illness.
The names of the Twelve Apostles are these:
first, Simon called Peter, and his brother Andrew;
James, the son of Zebedee, and his brother John;
Philip and Bartholomew,
Thomas and Matthew the tax collector;
James, the son of Alphaeus, and Thaddeus;
Simon the Cananean, and Judas Iscariot
who betrayed Jesus.

Jesus sent out these Twelve after instructing them thus,
“Do not go into pagan territory or enter a Samaritan town.
Go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
As you go, make this proclamation: ‘The Kingdom of heaven is at hand.’”

Meditacion:

Antes de comenzar la meditacion de hoy dia... hoy es la fiesta de San Benito, abad. Es  un santo muy importante, fundador de la Orden de los Benedictinos y su medalla tiene la particularidad de ser muy eficaz contra ciertos demonios. Yo la recomiendo siempre para tener a la mano en caso de necesidad. No es un amuleto, es mas una herramienta espiritual, un dia hablaremos de eso pero como resumen. pidan la intersecion de San Benito cuando no puedan orar o esten distraidos.

Bien, vamos al evangelio de hoy.

Leemos de "La palabra entre nosotros"

En el Evangelio de hoy vemos que Jesús, habiendo afirmado que la cosecha era abundante pero los obreros pocos, reunió a sus doce discípulos para enviarlos como misioneros. Este discurso sobre la misión de los Doce es, muy probablemente, una recopilación que hizo San Mateo de las diversas instrucciones que dio Jesús presentada en una sola llamada al discipulado, aplicable a los discípulos de todas las épocas.

El Señor comenzó sus instrucciones a sus apóstoles confiriéndoles la capacidad de expulsar espíritus malignos y curar enfermedades, aquel poder que es propio de la autoridad de Cristo como soberano Señor y Rey del universo. De esta manera, los discípulos tendrían un medio eficaz para demostrar que el mensaje de Cristo era auténtico y eficaz.

Lo más extraordinario es que Jesús ejercía su autoridad demostrando un amor perfecto, un amor que era capaz de salvar, no de condenar. A diferencia de los gobernantes de sus días, Jesús venía a servir, no a ser servido; a dar su vida para que los pecadores nos reconciliáramos con el Padre celestial. Esta actitud de humildad y amor era la fuente de la autoridad de Cristo, es decir, aquello que le confería el derecho de ejercer el poder tal como él lo hacía.

¿Qué significa esto para nosotros, los que ahora laboramos en la viña del Señor? Significa que, si diariamente decidimos seguir a Cristo y nos mantenemos en comunión con Jesús, veremos que él nos da autoridad para combatir el pecado y la enfermedad y rechazar al maligno, tanto para nuestro propio bien como el de los demás. Pero, para ejercer esta autoridad, es esencial actuar movidos por el amor, tal como lo hizo el Señor.

El Padre desea que invoquemos el poderoso Nombre de Jesús y le pidamos un corazón dispuesto a amar y servir, semejante al propio Corazón de Jesús. En la medida en que queramos que el Espíritu Santo nos una más a Cristo resucitado, conoceremos la autoridad del Señor, y podremos hacer las obras que él hizo.

“Padre celestial, enséñame a reconocer la diferencia entre la autoridad terrenal y la celestial; ayúdame a ser compasivo y misericordioso cuando trate de ayudar a los necesitados. Por tu Espíritu Santo, concédeme fortaleza para actuar con la misma compasión que Jesús tuvo conmigo al morir en la cruz y devolvernos tu amistad.” Amen

We read of "The word among us"

In today's Gospel we see that Jesus, having affirmed that the harvest was abundant but the workers few, gathered his twelve disciples to send them as missionaries. This discourse on the mission of the Twelve is, most likely, a compilation made by Saint Matthew of the various instructions given by Jesus presented in a single call to discipleship, applicable to disciples of all times.

The Lord began his instructions to his apostles conferring on them the ability to expel evil spirits and cure diseases, that power which is proper to the authority of Christ as sovereign Lord and King of the universe. In this way, the disciples would have an effective means to demonstrate that the message of Christ was authentic and effective.

The most extraordinary thing is that Jesus exercised his authority by demonstrating a perfect love, a love that was capable of saving, not of condemning. Unlike the rulers of his day, Jesus came to serve, not to be served; to give his life so that sinners may reconcile with the heavenly Father. This attitude of humility and love was the source of Christ's authority, that is, that which gave him the right to exercise power as he did.

What does this mean for us, those of us who now work in the Lord's vineyard? It means that, if we daily decide to follow Christ and keep ourselves in communion with Jesus, we will see that he gives us the authority to fight sin and sickness and reject the evil one, both for our own good and that of others. But to exercise this authority, it is essential to act moved by love, just as the Lord did.

The Father wants us to invoke the mighty Name of Jesus and ask for a heart willing to love and serve, similar to the Heart of Jesus. To the extent that we want the Holy Spirit to unite us more to the risen Christ, we will know the authority of the Lord, and we will be able to do the works that he did.

"Heavenly Father, teach me to recognize the difference between earthly and heavenly authority; Help me to be compassionate and merciful when I try to help those in need. By your Holy Spirit, grant me strength to act with the same compassion that Jesus had with me by dying on the cross and returning your friendship. "Amen
