Vayan y proclamen

Mt 10, 7-15

En aquel tiempo, envió Jesús a los Doce con estas instrucciones: 'Vayan y proclamen por el camino que ya se acerca el Reino de los cielos. Curen a los leprosos y demás enfermos; resuciten a los muertos y echen fuera a los demonios. Gratuitamente han recibido este poder; ejérzanlo, pues, gratuitamente.

No lleven con ustedes, en su cinturón, monedas de oro, de plata o de cobre. No lleven morral para el camino ni dos túnicas ni sandalias ni bordón, porque el trabajador tiene derecho a su sustento.

Cuando entren en una ciudad o en un pueblo, pregunten por alguien respetable y hospédense en su casa hasta que se vayan. Al entrar, saluden así: 'Que haya paz en esta casa'. Y si aquella casa es digna, la paz de ustedes reinará en ella; si no es digna, el saludo de paz de ustedes no les aprovechará. Y si no los reciben o no escuchan sus palabras, al salir de aquella casa o de aquella ciudad, sacúdanse el polvo de los pies. Yo les aseguro que el día del juicio, Sodoma y Gomorra serán tratadas con menos rigor que esa ciudad".

Jesus said to his Apostles:
“As you go, make this proclamation:
‘The Kingdom of heaven is at hand.’
Cure the sick, raise the dead,
cleanse the lepers, drive out demons.
Without cost you have received; without cost you are to give.
Do not take gold or silver or copper for your belts;
no sack for the journey, or a second tunic,
or sandals, or walking stick.
The laborer deserves his keep.
Whatever town or village you enter, look for a worthy person in it,
and stay there until you leave.
As you enter a house, wish it peace.
If the house is worthy,
let your peace come upon it;
if not, let your peace return to you.
Whoever will not receive you or listen to your words—
go outside that house or town and shake the dust from your feet.
Amen, I say to you, it will be more tolerable
for the land of Sodom and Gomorrah on the day of judgment
than for that town.”

Meditacion:

Exactamente ¿qué es el “Reino” que Jesús envió a sus discípulos a anunciar? Muchos judíos venían esperando un reino terrenal, que desplazara al ejército romano que los mantenía sometidos; pero el Reino del que hablaba Jesús no estaba definido por un poderío militar ni político, sino por el amor y la misericordia con los pecadores arrepentidos, por la curación de los enfermos y los solitarios y por la libertad de los encadenados por Satanás.

El pasaje está lleno de guiños a la cultura judía, a su sentido de la hospitalidad, al anuncio del Reino a través de curaciones, al concepto que entonces se tenía (y al uso que se hacía) del castigo “en el día del juicio”…

Pero, sobre todo, nos recuerda que evangelizar, ser portadores de la Buena Noticia, no es algo complicado, reservado sólo a los teólogos, a los ministros ordenados de la Iglesia o a los catequistas experimentados.

Evangelizar es llevar la paz, acoger y ser acogido. Evangelizar es saludar por las mañanas con un “buenos días” sincero. Evangelizar es sonreír de vez en cuando y no tener siempre cara de circunstancias. Evangelizar es preguntar por la familia, interesarse por las preocupaciones del otro. Evangelizar es levantar la vista del teclado o la pantalla del ordenador cuando alguien se dirige a ti, y mirarle a la cara. Evangelizar es ceder el paso, el asiento o la preferencia por delicadeza, por cariño. Evangelizar es tener un gesto cariñoso en el momento oportuno. Evangelizar es escuchar con paciencia. Evangelizar es hablar sin ser pesado, sin poner “mis” cosas como centro de la conversación. Evangelizar es conducir con prudencia, atento a los otros (vehículos o peatones) para facilitarles el paso. Evangelizar es ser servicial, hacer pequeños favores con alegría y soltura. Evangelizar…

Porque recibimos gratis el Evangelio, el Amor de Dios. Y es justo (y, si somos sinceros, inevitable) darlo gratis. En el amar está incluido el premio, la satisfacción de hacer felices a otros, aunque sea en pequeñas cosas.

El Reino de Dios no es menos real hoy que cuando Jesús envió por primera vez a sus discípulos a evangelizar, y Cristo sigue estando presente entre nosotros, para hacer realidad sus planes, tanto en sus fieles como a través de ellos. Por eso, si nos acercamos al Señor con la confianza de un niño, el Señor podrá usarnos para llevar el perdón a los pecadores, esperanza a los desanimados y salud a los enfermos. Pregúntate: ¿Acaso no vale la pena dedicar toda la vida a propagar un Reino como éste?

“Amado Jesús, te doy infinitas gracias porque me has permitido ser un hijo adoptivo del Padre celestial y porque has traído el Reino de los cielos al mundo de los humanos. Concédeme tu gracia, Señor, para experimentar el gozo de vivir en tu Reino.” Amen

Exactly what is the "Kingdom" that Jesus sent his disciples to announce? Many Jews were waiting for an earthly kingdom, to displace the Roman army that kept them subdued; but the Kingdom Jesus was talking about was not defined by a military or political power, but by love and mercy with repentant sinners, by the healing of the sick and the lonely and by the freedom of those chained by Satan.

The passage is full of winks to the Jewish culture, to its sense of hospitality, to the announcement of the Kingdom through cures, to the concept that was then had (and to the use that was made) of the punishment "in the day of judgment" ...

But, above all, it reminds us that evangelizing, being bearers of the Good News, is not something complicated, reserved only for theologians, ordained ministers of the Church or for experienced catechists.

To evangelize is to bring peace, welcome and be welcomed. To evangelize is to greet in the morning with a "good morning" sincere. To evangelize is to smile from time to time and not always face circumstances. To evangelize is to ask about the family, to be interested in the other's concerns. To evangelize is to look up from the keyboard or the computer screen when someone addresses you, and look at your face. To evangelize is to yield the step, the seat or the preference for delicacy, for affection. To evangelize is to have a loving gesture at the opportune moment. To evangelize is to listen with patience. Evangelizing is talking without being heavy, without putting "my" things as the center of conversation. To evangelize is to drive with prudence, attentive to others (vehicles or pedestrians) to facilitate their passage. To evangelize is to be helpful, to do small favors with joy and ease. Evangelize…

Because we receive for free the Gospel, the Love of God. And it is fair (and, if we are sincere, inevitable) to give it for free. In the love is included the reward, the satisfaction of making others happy, even in small things.

The Kingdom of God is no less real today than when Jesus first sent his disciples to evangelize, and Christ is still present among us, to make his plans a reality, both in his faithful and through them. Therefore, if we approach the Lord with the confidence of a child, the Lord will be able to use us to bring forgiveness to sinners, hope to the discouraged and health to the sick. Ask yourself: Is not it worthwhile to dedicate a lifetime to propagate a Kingdom like this?

"Beloved Jesus, I give you infinite graces because you have allowed me to be an adopted son of the heavenly Father and because you have brought the Kingdom of heaven to the world of humans. Grant me your grace, Lord, to experience the joy of living in your Kingdom. "Amen
