Semillas de mostaza

Mt 13, 31-35

En aquel tiempo, Jesús propuso esta otra parábola a la muchedumbre: "El Reino de los cielos es semejante a la semilla de mostaza que un hombre siembra en su huerto. Ciertamente es la más pequeña de todas las semillas, pero cuando crece, llega a ser más grande que las hortalizas y se convierte en un arbusto, de manera que los pájaros vienen y hacen su nido en las ramas".

Les dijo también otra parábola: "El Reino de los cielos se parece a un poco de levadura que tomó una mujer y la mezcló con tres medidas de harina, y toda la masa acabó por fermentar".

Jesús decía a la muchedumbre todas estas cosas con parábolas, y sin parábolas nada les decía, para que se cumpliera lo que dijo el profeta: Abriré mi boca y les hablaré con parábolas; anunciaré lo que estaba oculto desde la creación del mundo.

Jesus proposed a parable to the crowds.
"The Kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed
that a person took and sowed in a field.
It is the smallest of all the seeds,
yet when full-grown it is the largest of plants.
It becomes a large bush,
and the 'birds of the sky come and dwell in its branches.'"

He spoke to them another parable.
"The Kingdom of heaven is like yeast
that a woman took and mixed with three measures of wheat flour
until the whole batch was leavened."

All these things Jesus spoke to the crowds in parables.
He spoke to them only in parables, 
to fulfill what had been said through the prophet:

I will open my mouth in parables,
I will announce what has lain hidden from the foundation 
of the world.

Meditacion:

Leemos del libro "Mirada del Senor"

A la vista de los hechos, la gente podía objetar a Jesús: «¿Y eso es el Reino de Dios? ¿Cuatro o cuarenta curaciones, otros cuatro o cuarenta exorcismos, cuatro o cuarenta seguidores y seguidoras, cuatro o cuarenta historias y dichos? Nosotros esperábamos un Hijo del hombre que, de modo fulgurante, instaurara su soberanía de Oriente a Occidente. Eso sí que sería el Reino de Dios, que repele al adversario del Altísimo y aniquila todo mal, injusticia y sufrimiento. El Reino que anuncias es un manto que le queda demasiado grande a tu breve puñado de hechos».

Jesús responde contando historias. Porque su mirada conoce la promesa de las cosas: la promesa de un grano de mostaza, la de un puñado de levadura, la de estas señales menudas que parecen cantidades despreciables y que, sin embargo, alojan en sí un asombroso potencial de vida que nadie puede represar.

Con estos relatos nos educa la mirada, quizá lista para dejarse seducir por lo espectacular y apabullante, por lo que deslumbra, y quizá descuidada y algo obtusa para percibir el brillo de los milagros diarios de la vida y el milagro de los gestos diarios de la fe. El hechizo mismo que puede producir un espectáculo humano (por ejemplo, en el circo) no debe hacer olvidar que esa exhibición se ha forjado en el ejercicio cotidiano de personas entregadas apasionadamente a su oficio. La pasión de Jesús por el Reino definitivo y pleno de Dios se desgranaba en actos y señales que iluminaban y conmovían a los que tenían ojos para ver. Pidamos y eduquemos esa mirada.

San Pablo nos recuerda que somos “nuevas criaturas” en Cristo (2 Corintios 5, 17) y que Dios ha plantado en nuestro corazón gracias y bendiciones inimaginables (Efesios 1, 3); además, en el Espíritu, tenemos un “poder trascendente” que “viene de Dios y no de nosotros” (2 Corintios 4, 7). Todo lo que nos pide el Señor es que plantemos la semilla de este Reino en el suelo de la fe viva; así recibiremos la dinámica energía espiritual que necesitamos para llegar a ser como Jesús.

“Padre, lléname de tu Espíritu Santo, te lo ruego, y transfórmame para seguir los pasos de santidad de Cristo y para que tu Reino crezca en mí más y más. Amén.”

Jesus responds by telling stories. Because his gaze knows the promise of things: the promise of a mustard seed, that of a handful of yeast, of these small signs that seem like negligible quantities and that, nevertheless, hold in themselves an amazing potential of life that nobody It can dam.

With these stories we are educated by the gaze, perhaps ready to be seduced by the spectacular and overwhelming, by what dazzles, and perhaps careless and somewhat obtuse to perceive the brightness of the daily miracles of life and the miracle of the daily gestures of the faith. The spell that can produce a human spectacle (for example, in the circus) should not make you forget that this exhibition has been forged in the daily practice of people passionately devoted to their craft. Jesus' passion for the definitive and full Kingdom of God was shelled in acts and signs that enlightened and moved those who had eyes to see. Let's ask and educate that look.

St. Paul reminds us that we are "new creatures" in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17) and that God has planted in our hearts unimaginable graces and blessings (Ephesians 1, 3); Furthermore, in the Spirit, we have a "transcendent power" that "comes from God and not from us" (2 Corinthians 4, 7). All that the Lord asks us is that we plant the seed of this Kingdom in the soil of living faith; this way we will receive the dynamic spiritual energy that we need to become like Jesus.
