Mt 9, 9-13
En aquel tiempo, Jesús vio a un hombre llamado Mateo, sentado a su mesa de recaudador de impuestos, y le dijo: "Sígueme". Él se levantó y lo siguió.
Después, cuando estaba a la mesa en casa de Mateo, muchos publicanos y pecadores se sentaron también a comer con Jesús y sus discípulos. Viendo esto, los fariseos preguntaron a los discípulos: "¿Por qué su Maestro come con publicanos y pecadores?" Jesús los oyó y les dijo: "No son los sanos los que necesitan de médico, sino los enfermos. Vayan, pues, y aprendan lo que significa: Yo quiero misericordia y no sacrificios. Yo no he venido a llamar a los justos, sino a los pecadores".

As Jesus passed by,
he saw a man named Matthew sitting at the customs post.
He said to him, "Follow me."
And he got up and followed him.
While he was at table in his house,
many tax collectors and sinners came
and sat with Jesus and his disciples.
The Pharisees saw this and said to his disciples,
"Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?"
He heard this and said,
"Those who are well do not need a physician, but the sick do.
Go and learn the meaning of the words,
I desire mercy, not sacrifice.
I did not come to call the righteous but sinners."

Meditacion:
Hoy temprano reflexionaba sobre este evangelio y me preguntaba si fuera capaz de compartir mi mesa con alguien que me disgusta profundamente. Seria capaz hoy de superar mis tan humanas reservas?
Todos somos fariseos con alguien en nuestras vidas... todos nos molesta y no seriamos capaces de aceptar ciertas cosas de ciertas personas.
Pero Jesus le dice claramente a estos fariseos "No son los sanos los que necesitan de médico, sino los enfermos. Vayan, pues, y aprendan lo que significa: Yo quiero misericordia y no sacrificios".
Tenemos hoy una mirada misericordiosa para nuestros hermanos? y por otra parte y, personalmente, uno de los pasajes mas hermosos de este evangelio.. le decimos a Jesus que si o nos quedamos, mezquinamente, sentados en nuestra comoda vida sin seguirlo?
Jesús no dudó en arriesgar su reputación por amor a Mateo; pero los fariseos no conocían este tipo de amor. Viendo sus miradas de censura, les dijo: “Vayan y aprendan el significado de estas palabras: ‘Lo que quiero es que sean compasivos, y no que ofrezcan sacrificios.’ Pues yo no he venido a llamar a los justos, sino a los pecadores” (Mateo 9, 13).
Ninguno de nosotros es digno del Reino de Dios; todos necesitamos ser perdonados; hasta los fariseos que se creían “justos” necesitaban la misericordia de Dios para entrar en el Reino. A veces los “justos” tienen el corazón más duro que los “injustos”; sin embargo, el Señor ofrece la salvación a todos por igual. ¿Cómo le responderás tú a Cristo, que te llama a seguirlo?
El resto del relato es el intento –difícil- de explicar este juego de miradas, palabras y acciones a los que no entienden que Dios puede hacer nuevas todas las cosas y todas las vidas. En cualquier momento y en cualquier situación.
Que disfrutes del relato y que tú también te dejes mirar por Él. Allí donde estés. Amen

Earlier today I was reflecting on this gospel and I was wondering if I would be able to share my table with someone I deeply dislike. Would I be able today to overcome my so human reservations?
We are all Pharisees with someone in our lives ... everyone bothers us and we would not be able to accept certain things from certain people.
But Jesus clearly says to these Pharisees: "It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick ones, so go and learn what it means: I want mercy and not sacrifices."
Do we have a merciful look today for our brothers? and on the other hand and, personally, one of the most beautiful passages of this gospel .. we tell Jesus that if we stay, meanwhile, sitting in our comfortable life without following him?
Jesus did not hesitate to risk his reputation for love of Matthew; but the Pharisees did not know this kind of love. Seeing their censorious glances, he said: "Go and learn the meaning of these words: 'What I want is for you to be compassionate, and not to offer sacrifices.' For I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners "(Matthew 9, 13).
None of us is worthy of the Kingdom of God; we all need to be forgiven; even the Pharisees who thought themselves "righteous" needed the mercy of God to enter the Kingdom. Sometimes the "righteous" have a harder heart than the "unjust"; However, the Lord offers salvation to all equally. How will you respond to Christ, who calls you to follow him?
The rest of the story is the attempt - difficult - to explain this game of looks, words and actions to those who do not understand that God can make all things new and all lives. At any time and in any situation.
