Fariseos 2

Mt 23, 23-26

En aquel tiempo, Jesús dijo a los escribas y fariseos: "¡Ay de ustedes, escribas y fariseos hipócritas, porque pagan el diezmo de la menta, del anís y del comino, pero descuidan lo más importante de la ley, que son la justicia, la misericordia y la fidelidad! Esto es lo que tenían que practicar, sin descuidar aquello. ¡Guías ciegos, que cuelan el mosquito, pero se tragan el camello!

¡Ay de ustedes, escribas y fariseos hipócritas, que limpian por fuera los vasos y los platos, mientras que por dentro siguen sucios con su rapacidad y codicia! ¡Fariseo ciego!, limpia primero por dentro el vaso y así quedará también limpio por fuera''.

Jesus said:
"Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, you hypocrites.
You pay tithes of mint and dill and cummin,
and have neglected the weightier things of the law:
judgment and mercy and fidelity.
But these you should have done, without neglecting the others.
Blind guides, who strain out the gnat and swallow the camel!

"Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, you hypocrites.
You cleanse the outside of cup and dish,
but inside they are full of plunder and self-indulgence.
Blind Pharisee, cleanse first the inside of the cup,
so that the outside also may be clean."

Meditacion:

Hoy seguimos con esta segunda parte del discurso de Jesus a los fariseos donde sigue echandoles en cara su doble standart, uno para las personas, otro para ellos.

Y como deciamos ayer, todos somos un poco fariseos, caemos en eso de las formas y nos olvidamos de los modos, vamos a misa y lo hacemos casi mecanicamente, sin importarnos mucho o sin sentirlo.

Es muy dificil tambien no ver reflejado en el discurso de Jesus su fastidio por una religiosidad basada en la jerarquia solamente, olvidandose de la humildad y la misericordia. Tenían mucho cuidado de no tragarse el mosquito pero podían comulgar con ruedas de molinos. Se centraron solo en lo exterior. Los ritos de purificación, mirando que todo estuviera en orden, como se había hecho siempre.

Jesús invita a mirar más allá, a no quedarse en lo exterior, a practicar un verdadero arrepentimiento. Ojalá que podamos hacer de nuestras comunidades, parroquias, grupos, lugares donde    se pueda vivir la purificación interior. Amen

Today we continue with this second part of the discourse of Jesus to the Pharisees where he continues to face them with his double standart, one for the people, another for them.

And as we said yesterday, we are all a bit of a Pharisee, we fall into that of forms and we forget the ways, we go to mass and we do it almost mechanically, without caring much or without feeling it.

It is very difficult also not to see reflected in Jesus' speech his annoyance for a religiosity based on the hierarchy only, forgetting humility and mercy. They were very careful not to swallow the mosquito but could communicate with mill wheels. They focused only on the outside. The rites of purification, watching that everything was in order, as it had always been done.

Jesus invites us to look beyond, not to remain outside, to practice true repentance. Hopefully we can make our communities, parishes, groups, places where you can live the inner purification. Amen
