Muriendo es como se resucita

Jn 12, 24-26

En aquel tiempo, Jesús dijo a sus discípulos: "Yo les aseguro que si el grano de trigo sembrado en la tierra no muere, queda infecundo; pero si muere, producirá mucho fruto. El que se ama a sí mismo, se pierde; el que se aborrece a sí mismo en este mundo, se asegura para la vida eterna.

El que quiera servirme que me siga, para que donde yo esté, también esté mi servidor. El que me sirve será honrado por mi Padre''.

Jesus said to his disciples:
"Amen, amen, I say to you,
unless a grain of wheat falls to the ground and dies,
it remains just a grain of wheat;
but if it dies, it produces much fruit.
Whoever loves his life loses it,
and whoever hates his life in this world
will preserve it for eternal life.
Whoever serves me must follow me,
and where I am, there also will my servant be.
The Father will honor whoever serves me."

Meditacion:

Hoy se celebra la festividad de San Lorenzo, martir, un diacono que vivio alla por el  año 250 despues de Cristo.

El diácono San Lorenzo tenía a su cargo el cuidado de los bienes de la Iglesia en Roma a mediados del siglo III y daba limosnas a los pobres, tarea que cumplía con gran esmero y compasión, pues reconocía que los pobres eran el tesoro más grande de la Iglesia y también eran objeto especial del favor de Dios.

En el año 257, el emperador Valeriano inició una persecución contra los cristianos y en menos de un año el Papa Sixto fue arrestado y ejecutado. Cuatro días más tarde, Lorenzo experimentó igualmente el martirio. Se cuenta que cuando le ordenaron presentar los tesoros de la Iglesia ante el emperador, él reunió y presentó a todos los inválidos, los ciegos, los leprosos y los pobres, pero con este acto de testimonio de Cristo firmó su propia sentencia de muerte.

Testimonios como el de San Lorenzo son los que necesitamos en este momento tan particular para la Iglesia toda y para nuestra propia vida. Debemos comprender la raiz del evangelio de hoy... si no morimos al pecado, nuestro permanente deseo de controlarlo todo, de pensar que somos capaces de todo, jamas avanzaremos en nuestro camino de elevacion.

Como en la oracion de San Francisco de Asis  «Porque es dando como recibimos, olvidándonos como nos encontramos, perdonando como somos perdonados, muriendo como resucitamos a la vida eterna». Lorenzo se recibió dando y dándose, se encontró olvidándose de sí, fue perdonado por medio de su perdón, resucitó a la vida eterna muriendo mártir.

Nos han enseñado que la Iglesia, asentada en la piedra angular que es Cristo y descansando en las columnas o cimientos que son los profetas y apóstoles, se apoya en estos cuatro pilares: el anuncio y testimonio, la liturgia, el servicio, la comunión. Lorenzo vivió el anuncio-testimonio en su forma suprema: el martirio; su vida y muerte fueron liturgia espiritual; sirvió a los pobres desde su ministerio de diácono; la caridad y la fuerza del Espíritu que lo alentaban lo hacían vivir en la comunión y generar comunión. Podemos celebrar su fecundidad eclesial.

San Agustín enseña en la lectura del Oficio divino de este día: «Lo han imitado [a Cristo] los santos mártires hasta el derramamiento de su sangre, hasta la semejanza con su pasión; lo han imitado los mártires, pero no solo ellos. El puente no se ha derrumbado después de haber pasado ellos; la fuente no se ha secado después de haber pasado ellos. Tenedlo presente, hermanos».

“Jesús, Señor mío, sé que yo no puedo hacerme santo, pero tú sí puedes. Pongo mi vida en tus manos para que actúes en mí y a través de mí como tú quieras. ¡Tú eres mi tesoro más valioso!” Amen

Today is celebrated the feast of San Lorenzo, martyr, a deacon who lived there for the year 250 after Christ.

It is said that when he was ordered to present the treasures of the Church to the emperor, he gathered and presented all the invalids, the blind, the lepers and the poor, but with this act of testimony of Christ he signed his own death sentence.

Testimonies like San Lorenzo are the ones we need at this particular moment for the whole Church and for our own lives. We must understand the root of the gospel today ... if we do not die to sin, our permanent desire to control everything, to think that we are capable of everything, we will never advance in our path of elevation.

As in the prayer of St. Francis of Assisi "Because it is giving as we receive, forgetting how we are, forgiving as we are forgiven, dying as we are resurrected to eternal life." Lorenzo received himself giving and giving, he found himself forgetting himself, he was forgiven by means of his forgiveness, he rose again to eternal life dying a martyr.

We have been taught that the Church, based on the cornerstone that is Christ and resting on the pillars or foundations that are the prophets and apostles, rests on these four pillars: the proclamation and witness, the liturgy, the service, the communion. Lorenzo lived the announcement-testimony in its supreme form: martyrdom; his life and death were spiritual liturgy; He served the poor from his deacon ministry; the charity and the strength of the Spirit that encouraged him made him live in communion and generate communion. We can celebrate their ecclesial fecundity.

St. Augustine teaches in the reading of the Divine Office of this day: "They have imitated [Christ] the holy martyrs until the shedding of their blood, even the likeness with their passion; the martyrs have imitated him, but not only them. The bridge has not collapsed after having passed them; the fountain has not dried after having passed them. Keep it in mind, brothers ».

"Jesus, my Lord, I know that I can not make myself holy, but you can. I put my life in your hands so that you can act in me and through me as you want. You are my most valuable treasure! "Amen
