Que el mayor sea su servidor

Mt 23, 1-12

En aquel tiempo, Jesús dijo a las multitudes y a sus discípulos: "En la cátedra de Moisés se han sentado los escribas y fariseos. Hagan, pues, todo lo que les digan, pero no imiten sus obras, porque dicen una cosa y hacen otra. Hacen fardos muy pesados y difíciles de llevar y los echan sobre las espaldas de los hombres, pero ellos ni con el dedo los quieren mover. Todo lo hacen para que los vea la gente. Ensanchan las filacterias y las franjas del manto; les agrada ocupar los primeros lugares en los banquetes y los asientos de honor en las sinagogas; les gusta que los saluden en las plazas y que la gente los llame "maestros".

Ustedes, en cambio, no dejen que los llamen "maestros", porque no tienen más que un Maestro y todos ustedes son hermanos. A ningún hombre sobre la tierra lo llamen "padre", porque el Padre de ustedes es sólo el Padre celestial. No se dejen llamar "guías", porque el guía de ustedes es solamente Cristo. Que el mayor de entre ustedes sea su servidor, porque el que se enaltece será humillado y el que se humilla será enaltecido".

Jesus spoke to the crowds and to his disciples, saying,
"The scribes and the Pharisees
have taken their seat on the chair of Moses.
Therefore, do and observe all things whatsoever they tell you,
but do not follow their example.
For they preach but they do not practice.
They tie up heavy burdens hard to carry
and lay them on people's shoulders,
but they will not lift a finger to move them.
All their works are performed to be seen.
They widen their phylacteries and lengthen their tassels.
They love places of honor at banquets, seats of honor in synagogues,
greetings in marketplaces, and the salutation 'Rabbi.'
As for you, do not be called 'Rabbi.'
You have but one teacher, and you are all brothers.
Call no one on earth your father;
you have but one Father in heaven.
Do not be called 'Master';
you have but one master, the Christ.
The greatest among you must be your servant.
Whoever exalts himself will be humbled;
but whoever humbles himself will be exalted."

Meditacion:

Leia el evangelio de hoy y no podia mas que compararla con la triste situacion de clericalismo que vive hoy la Iglesia Catolica.

Tenemos una Iglesia verticalista, llena de burocracia, privilegios para "los de arriba" como obispos y cardenales y un pueblo que por muchos años ha sido visto como una masa sin autoridad que debe acatar y callar.

Como en el tiempo de Jesus, en el clericalismo de nuestros dias la Jerarquia Eclesiastica no siempre ha seguido a su pueblo; se olvido, lamentablemente, de la misericordia, la caridad y la necesidad de hacerse pueblo con ellos para dedicarse a una vida de pecado, vanidad y lujos.

No todos los obispos o cardenales son de la misma manera pero si toda la Iglesia esta atravesada (desde el mas humilde de los parrocos hasta el mas encumbrado de los cardenales) de un clericalismo corporativo malsano que debe ser, sencillamente, destruido.

En el evangelio de hoy Jesus nos muestra el camino que todos como Iglesia debemos seguir en esta hora tan preocupante para volver a lo correcto "Que el mayor de entre ustedes sea su servidor, porque el que se enaltece será humillado y el que se humilla será enaltecido".

“Señor Jesús, ayúdame a dedicar tiempo para escucharte; concédeme tu fortaleza, para que yo sepa poner tus palabras en práctica. No permitas que tus palabras regresen a ti vacías.” Amen

I read the Gospel today and could not help comparing it with the sad situation of clericalism that the Catholic Church is experiencing today.

We have a verticalist Church, full of bureaucracy, privileges for "those from above" as bishops and cardinals and a people that for many years has been seen as a mass without authority that must abide and keep silent.

As in the time of Jesus, in the clericalism of our times the Ecclesiastical Hierarchy has not always followed its people; he sadly forgot about mercy, charity and the need to become a people with them in order to dedicate himself to a life of sin, vanity and luxury.

Not all bishops or cardinals are in the same way but if the whole Church is crossed (from the humblest of parish priests to the most exalted of the cardinals) of an unhealthy corporate clericalism that must be, simply, destroyed.

In today's Gospel Jesus shows us the path that we as a Church must follow in this worrisome hour to return to the right "May the greatest among you be his servant, because the one who exalts himself will be humbled and the one who humbles himself will be exalted. "

"Lord Jesus, help me to take time to listen to you; grant me your strength, so that I know how to put your words into practice. Do not let your words return to you empty. "Amen
