Mt 14, 22-36

GospelMT 14:22-36
Jesus made the disciples get into a boat
and precede him to the other side of the sea,
while he dismissed the crowds.
After doing so, he went up on the mountain by himself to pray.
When it was evening he was there alone.
Meanwhile the boat, already a few miles offshore,
was being tossed about by the waves, for the wind was against it.
During the fourth watch of the night,
he came toward them, walking on the sea.
When the disciples saw him walking on the sea they were terrified.
"It is a ghost," they said, and they cried out in fear.
At once Jesus spoke to them, "Take courage, it is I; do not be afraid."
Peter said to him in reply,
"Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the water."
He said, "Come."
Peter got out of the boat and began to walk on the water toward Jesus.
But when he saw how strong the wind was he became frightened;
and, beginning to sink, he cried out, "Lord, save me!"
Immediately Jesus stretched out his hand and caught him,
and said to him, "O you of little faith, why did you doubt?"
After they got into the boat, the wind died down.
Those who were in the boat did him homage, saying,
"Truly, you are the Son of God."
After making the crossing, they came to land at Gennesaret.
When the men of that place recognized him,
they sent word to all the surrounding country.
People brought to him all those who were sick
and begged him that they might touch only the tassel on his cloak,
and as many as touched it were healed.

Meditacion:
Amen

Well, what a beautiful gospel today! It portrays us all with our doubts and humanities as I say.
First, again the mountain as a place of prayer and to meet God ... We must separate time to pray in solitude! God speaks to us in the humility and silence of the tabernacle ... let's visit him !!
And then ... there is no figure that best describes our own life of hesitation and errors that the boat of these experienced fishermen .. imagine to be sailing and see someone walking on the water ... anyone would have been scared. But Jesus reassures them as it calms us when we put our faith in Him and not in people "Reassure and fear not, it is I. Today as yesterday Jesus tells us the same thing" do not fear, I come here "but like Peter he had faith to walk on the waters until he let himself be carried away by his own humanity and lacked faith, we all exclaimed today "save me Lord!".
Why is Peter sinking? Because the horizon has been shortened. He walks on the surface of the water while he keeps his eyes on Jesus and remains attached to his word; but when he looks away from him and the Lord is outside his visual-vital horizon, when he only looks at the onslaught of the swell, when the invitation that Jesus has just given him does not resonate in his ear anymore, when in his field of experience only appears the push of the wind and the state of the water, Pedro becomes heavier and no longer manages to hold. When Jesus is lost from sight, we can not keep afloat. He will have to throw us a cable: hold out his hand, so that we can go afloat.
Do not let the immediate circumstance completely surround you. This can be good: a sporting triumph, an ascent in work, a professional success, a fortunate encounter, the solution of a problem; it can be bad: a disease, a failure in your ministry, a disappointment, a chain of misunderstandings, the little or no valuation of your services, a wound that inflicts on your self-esteem, a setback of fortune ... The circumstance places you on the crest of the wave and it fills you with euphoria or takes you to the chasm and you sink. To not be a victim of it, place it in the broader horizon of your life: the common good, the fate of the poor and the suffering, the kingdom of God and his justice, the presence of the Lord.
"Holy Spirit, increase my faith, I beg you; enlighten me with the truth and teach me to always remain united to Christ, with determination and courage, especially in times of danger, fear or insecurity. "Amen
