Mt 15, 21-28
En aquel tiempo, Jesús se retiró a la comarca de Tiro y Sidón. Entonces una mujer cananea le salió al encuentro y se puso a gritar: "Señor, hijo de David, ten compasión de mí. Mi hija está terriblemente atormentada por un demonio". Jesús no le contestó una sola palabra; pero los discípulos se acercaron y le rogaban: "Atiéndela, porque viene gritando detrás de nosotros". Él les contestó: "Yo no he sido enviado sino a las ovejas descarriadas de la casa de Israel".
Ella se acercó entonces a Jesús y postrada ante él, le dijo: "¡Señor, ayúdame!" El le respondió: "No está bien quitarles el pan a los hijos para echárselo a los perritos". Pero ella replicó: "Es cierto, Señor; pero también los perritos se comen las migajas que caen de la mesa de sus amos". Entonces Jesús le respondió: "Mujer, ¡qué grande es tu fe! Que se cumpla lo que deseas". Y en aquel mismo instante quedó curada su hija.

And behold, a Canaanite woman of that district came and called out,
"Have pity on me, Lord, Son of David!
My daughter is tormented by a demon."
But he did not say a word in answer to her.
His disciples came and asked him,
"Send her away, for she keeps calling out after us."
He said in reply,
"I was sent only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel."
But the woman came and did him homage, saying, "Lord, help me."
He said in reply,
"It is not right to take the food of the children
and throw it to the dogs."
She said, "Please, Lord, for even the dogs eat the scraps
that fall from the table of their masters."
Then Jesus said to her in reply,
"O woman, great is your faith!
Let it be done for you as you wish."
And her daughter was healed from that hour.

Meditacion:
Hay encuentros en la vida que nos marcan rumbos. El que leemos hoy en el evangelio, es uno de esos.
Fijense que esta mujer venia pidiendo a Jesus por la curacion de su hija. Y era un fastidio para todos, como cuando nos encontramos en la calle con un mendigo que nos sigue pidiendonos dinero o cuando alguien nos pide un favor que nos hace sentir incomodos.
No somos muy diferentes que los apostoles, reaccionamos con incomodidad y queremos (al igual que ellos) terminar el tema y seguir nuestro camino diario.
Los apostoles le piden a Jesus que la atienda y El se niega.
Ella tenia todo en contra: era cananea, que no se llevaban bien con los galileos por ser pobres, era extranjera y era rica (esto lo sabemos por Marcos), Y no buscaba dinero, buscaba la curacion y ni siquiera para ella, para su hija.
Ven? Tenia todo en contra, solo tenia su fe. la fe enorme de saber que Jesus podia curar si lo deseaba.
Y es en ese encuentro donde Jesus, a pesar de decirle que habia venido solo por las ovejas descarriadas de Israel, abre su mano, arrebatado por la fe de la mujer y hace el milagro.
Tener fe es creer, es saber que, mas alla de las circunstancias presentes, Dios trabaja en nuestras vidas para hacer de nosotros el mejor yo.
El mensaje de hoy dia es (como el de ayer) la fe, abandonemonos como herramientas en las manos del Senor y tengamos fe en sus designios.
Y por ultimo para nosotros, el toparnos con una persona indigente también puede ser una lección de humildad. En el mendigo podemos ver algo de nuestra propia debilidad física o emocional, aunque la ocultamos muy bien. Pero ante el Señor no tenemos que llevar una máscara ni fingir algo que no somos, y esto es como una liberación interior, ya que nos pone en contacto con nuestro verdadero ser, que Cristo conoce muy bien.
Estos encuentros suelen despertar el corazón y revelar lo que hay en él, dando paso a sentimientos de ternura y compasión, de bondad y comunión, y aprendemos que es posible ser más humanos, amar más y dar más de nosotros mismos.
“Señor, reconocemos que ante ti todos somos pobres y diariamente necesitamos tu misericordia y tu amor. ¡Ayúdanos, Señor!” Amen

There are encounters in life that give us directions. The one we read today in the gospel is one of those.
Notice that this woman came asking Jesus for the healing of his daughter. And it was an annoyance for everyone, like when we met on the street with a beggar who keeps asking us for money or when someone asks us for a favor that makes us feel uncomfortable.
We are not very different from the apostles, we react with discomfort and we want (like them) to finish the topic and follow our daily path.
The apostles ask Jesus to attend and He refuses.
She had everything against her: she was Canaanite, she did not get along with the Galileans because she was poor, she was a foreigner and she was rich (we know this from Marcos), and she did not look for money, she sought healing and not even for her, for her daughter.
Come? He had everything against, he only had his faith. the enormous faith of knowing that Jesus could heal if he wanted to.
And it is in that meeting where Jesus, despite telling him that he had come alone for the lost sheep of Israel, opens his hand, caught by the faith of the woman and performs the miracle.
To have faith is to believe, it is to know that, beyond the present circumstances, God works in our lives to make us the best self.
The message of today is (like yesterday) faith, let us abandon ourselves as tools in the hands of the Lord and have faith in his designs.
And finally for us, encountering an indigent person can also be a lesson in humility. In the beggar we can see something of our own physical or emotional weakness, although we hide it very well. But before the Lord we do not have to wear a mask or pretend something we are not, and this is like an inner liberation, since it puts us in touch with our true self, which Christ knows very well.
These meetings often awaken the heart and reveal what is in it, giving way to feelings of tenderness and compassion, of kindness and communion, and we learn that it is possible to be more human, love more and give more of ourselves.
"Lord, we recognize that before you we are all poor and daily we need your mercy and your love. Help us, Lord! "Amen
