Lc 10, 13-16

En aquel tiempo, Jesús dijo: "¡Ay de ti, ciudad de Corozaín! ¡Ay de ti, ciudad de Betsaida! Porque si en las ciudades de Tiro y de Sidón se hubieran realizado los prodigios que se han hecho en ustedes, hace mucho tiempo que hubieran hecho penitencia, cubiertas de sayal y de ceniza. Por eso el día del juicio será menos severo para Tiro y Sidón que para ustedes. Y tú, Cafarnaúm, ¿crees que serás encumbrada hasta el cielo? No. Serás precipitada en el abismo".

Luego, Jesús dijo a sus discípulos: "El que los escucha a ustedes, a mí me escucha; el que los rechaza a ustedes, a mí me rechaza y el que me rechaza a mí, rechaza al que me ha enviado".

Jesus said to them,
"Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida!
For if the mighty deeds done in your midst
had been done in Tyre and Sidon,
they would long ago have repented,
sitting in sackcloth and ashes.
But it will be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon
at the judgment than for you.
And as for you, Capernaum, 'Will you be exalted to heaven?
You will go down to the netherworld.'
Whoever listens to you listens to me.
Whoever rejects you rejects me. 
And whoever rejects me rejects the one who sent me."

Meditacion:

Jesús acababa de dar instrucciones a sus discípulos para la misión que les iba a encomendar. Debían ir a los pueblos que más tarde él visitaría y preparar a la gente para su llegada sanando a los enfermos, expulsando a los demonios y anunciando el Reino de Dios.

Posiblemente, para que sus discípulos apreciaran más la importancia del trabajo que realizarían, les aclaró de quién era el mensaje que proclamarían y lo mucho que dependería el resultado de la respuesta de la gente.

Jesús era Dios mismo que había venido al mundo en cuerpo fisico para anunciar al pueblo que les estaba ofreciendo vida y paz; ahora enviaba a sus discípulos a ser portavoces suyos, de modo que aceptar o rechazar el mensaje de los discípulos equivalía a aceptar o rechazar a Dios mismo. Los que escucharan la predicación tendrían que tomar la decisión más importante de su vida, ya que su destino eterno dependería de cómo respondieran. La forma en que Jesús se lamentaba del destino que sufrirían las ciudades que ya lo habían rechazado debe haber dejado a los discípulos con una profunda sensación de responsabilidad en cuanto a la tarea que el Señor les estaba encomendando.

Los creyentes de hoy, que formamos el Cuerpo de Cristo, compartimos el llamado a “propagar el Reino de Cristo por toda la tierra” (Catecismo de la Iglesia Católica, 863). Cada cual tiene su campo particular de misión: la familia, el lugar de trabajo, el vecindario. Lo que suceda con las personas con las cuales vivimos y trabajamos es muy importante para Dios y por eso, para que estemos bien equipados para una misión tan difícil de cumplir, Jesús nos ofrece una parte de su propia vida mediante la oración, la reflexión bíblica y su presencia en la Sagrada Eucaristía (véase CIC, 864).

¿Conoce usted a alguien que esté lejos de Dios? Nunca es demasiado tarde para esa persona. Ore por quienes usted sabe que están perdidos; interceda para que el espíritu de revelación actúe en la vida de esas personas. Únalas a Cristo y líbrelas de las garras del maligno. Si le parece que Dios le está pidiendo que les dé testimonio, hágalo con amor y compasión; demuéstreles que el Evangelio es el mensaje más esperanzador y poderoso que hay en el mundo.

“Amado Señor, concédeme el deseo de velar para que muchas otras personas lleguen a conocerte. Úsame para darte a conocer a esas personas, y así muchos hombres y mujeres entren en tu Reino.” Amen

Jesus had just given instructions to his disciples for the mission that he was going to entrust to them. They were to go to the villages that he would later visit and prepare the people for their arrival by healing the sick, expelling the demons and announcing the Kingdom of God.

Possibly, in order for his disciples to appreciate more the importance of the work they would perform, he clarified to them whose message they would proclaim and how much the result of the response of the people would depend.

Jesus was God himself who had come to the world in a physical body to announce to the people that he was offering them life and peace; Now he sent his disciples to be his spokesmen, so to accept or reject the message of the disciples was tantamount to accepting or rejecting God himself. Those who heard the preaching would have to make the most important decision of their lives, since their eternal destiny would depend on how they responded. The way Jesus lamented the fate of the cities that had already rejected him must have left the disciples with a deep sense of responsibility for the task the Lord was entrusting them.

The believers of today, who form the Body of Christ, share the call to "spread the Kingdom of Christ throughout the earth" (Catechism of the Catholic Church, 863). Everyone has their particular field of mission: the family, the workplace, the neighborhood. What happens with the people with whom we live and work is very important for God and that is why, in order for us to be well equipped for such a difficult mission, Jesus offers us a part of his own life through prayer, biblical reflection and his presence in the Holy Eucharist (see CCC, 864).

Do you know someone who is far from God? It is never too late for that person. Pray for those you know are lost; intercede so that the spirit of revelation acts in the lives of those people. Join them to Christ and free them from the clutches of the evil one. If it seems that God is asking you to give testimony, do it with love and compassion; Demonstrate to them that the Gospel is the most hopeful and powerful message in the world.

"Beloved Lord, grant me the desire to watch so that many other people will come to know you. Use me to let you know those people, and so many men and women enter your Kingdom. "Amen
