Un Reino dividido

Lc 11, 15-26

En aquel tiempo, cuando Jesús expulsó a un demonio, algunos dijeron: "Éste expulsa a los demonios con el poder de Satanás, el príncipe de los demonios". Otros, para ponerlo a prueba, le pedían una señal milagrosa.

Pero Jesús, que conocía sus malas intenciones, les dijo: ''Todo reino dividido por luchas internas va a la ruina y se derrumba casa por casa. Si Satanás también está dividido contra sí mismo, ¿cómo mantendrá su reino? Ustedes dicen que yo arrojo a los demonios con el poder de Satanás. Entonces, ¿con el poder de quién los arrojan los hijos de ustedes? Por eso, ellos mismos serán sus jueces. Pero si yo arrojo a los demonios por el poder de Dios, eso significa que ha llegado a ustedes el Reino de Dios.

Cuando un hombre fuerte y bien armado guarda su palacio, sus bienes están seguros; pero si otro más fuerte lo asalta y lo vence, entonces le quita las armas en que confiaba y después dispone de sus bienes. El que no está conmigo, está contra mí; y el que no recoge conmigo, desparrama.

Cuando el espíritu inmundo sale de un hombre, anda vagando por lugares áridos, en busca de reposo, y al no hallarlo, dice: 'Volveré a mi casa, de donde salí'. Y al llegar, la encuentra barrida y arreglada. Entonces va por otros siete espíritus peores que él y vienen a instalarse allí, y así la situación final de aquel hombre resulta peor que la de antes".

When Jesus had driven out a demon, some of the crowd said:
"By the power of Beelzebul, the prince of demons,
he drives out demons."
Others, to test him, asked him for a sign from heaven.
But he knew their thoughts and said to them,
"Every kingdom divided against itself will be laid waste
and house will fall against house.
And if Satan is divided against himself, how will his kingdom stand?
For you say that it is by Beelzebul that I drive out demons.
If I, then, drive out demons by Beelzebul,
by whom do your own people drive them out?
Therefore they will be your judges.
But if it is by the finger of God that I drive out demons,
then the Kingdom of God has come upon you.
When a strong man fully armed guards his palace,
his possessions are safe.
But when one stronger than he attacks and overcomes him,
he takes away the armor on which he relied
and distributes the spoils.
Whoever is not with me is against me,
and whoever does not gather with me scatters.

"When an unclean spirit goes out of someone,
it roams through arid regions searching for rest
but, finding none, it says,
'I shall return to my home from which I came.'
But upon returning, it finds it swept clean and put in order.
Then it goes and brings back seven other spirits
more wicked than itself who move in and dwell there,
and the last condition of that man is worse than the first."

Meditacion:

A lo largo de todo su Evangelio, San Lucas presenta muy claramente la realidad y el poder del diablo, pero al mismo tiempo demuestra de manera inequívoca que los demonios tiemblan en la presencia de Jesús. En otras palabras, Satanás es un ser creado que tiene poder limitado, pero Jesús es Dios y su poder y su amor son ilimitados.

El diablo continúa rondando por todas partes, como lo ha hecho desde que se rebeló contra Dios, tratando de despojar a los hijos de Dios de amor y confianza, y esto es algo que todos experimentamos en las tentaciones que nos asaltan diariamente. De muchas maneras sutiles y no tan sutiles, el demonio trata de socavar las verdades que nos han enseñado la Iglesia y la Sagrada Escritura y de quebrantar la confianza que tenemos en el amor y la protección de nuestro Padre.

Jesús también tuvo que soportar las tentaciones del demonio, que quería hacerlo desconfiar del Padre, anhelar el poder humano, buscar las cosas del mundo o sucumbir ante ambiciones egocéntricas (Lucas 4, 1-13); pero gracias a su inquebrantable amor a Dios, Jesús triunfó sobre el enemigo. Ahora, por la sangre derramada en su cruz, Cristo ha conseguido una libertad que todos los creyentes podemos recibir si confiamos en él.

A Jesús le complace mucho librarnos del mal, porque desea que su pueblo sea libre, pero a pesar de que la liberación es muy valiosa, el Señor nos da mucho más que eso. La liberación del mal es solamente una puerta hacia una bendición más grande aún que quiere darnos: su propia vida. En efecto, Cristo quiere que seamos libres de la esclavitud del pecado, de modo que seamos una morada pura y digna para la Santísima Trinidad.

Hoy es una buena ocasión para preguntarse “¿Qué concepto tengo de mi propia vida? ¿Cuáles son los límites de mis horizontes? ¿Me considero un pecador más que lucha por amar a Dios? ¿Soy alguien que ama a Dios pero que necesita librarse del pecado?” Hoy, en su oración, permita que Jesús le haga elevar la mirada y le convenza de su victoria total y absoluta sobre Satanás, para que así usted pueda recibir todas las bendiciones que el Señor le ofrece.

“Padre eterno, te doy gracias por enviar a Jesús a destruir el poder de Satanás. Ven, Señor Jesús, y llena todos los rincones de mi vida con tu luz y tu amor.” Amen

Throughout his Gospel, Saint Luke presents the reality and power of the devil very clearly, but at the same time unequivocally demonstrates that the demons tremble in the presence of Jesus. In other words, Satan is a created being who has limited power, but Jesus is God and his power and love are unlimited.

The devil continues to roam everywhere, as he has done since he rebelled against God, trying to deprive God's children of love and trust, and this is something we all experience in the temptations that assail us daily. In many subtle and not so subtle ways, the devil tries to undermine the truths that the Church and Sacred Scripture have taught us and to break the trust we have in the love and protection of our Father.

Jesus also had to endure the temptations of the devil, who wanted to make him distrust the Father, to long for human power, to seek the things of the world or to succumb to egocentric ambitions (Luke 4, 1-13); but thanks to his unwavering love for God, Jesus triumphed over the enemy. Now, through the blood shed on his cross, Christ has achieved a freedom that all believers can receive if we trust him.

Jesus is very happy to rid us of evil, because he wants his people to be free, but even though liberation is very valuable, the Lord gives us much more than that. The liberation of evil is only a door to a greater blessing that he wants to give us: his own life. In fact, Christ wants us to be free from the bondage of sin, so that we may be a pure and dignified abode for the Most Holy Trinity.

Today is a good time to ask "What concept do I have of my own life? What are the limits of my horizons? Do I consider myself a sinner rather than struggle to love God? Am I someone who loves God but needs to get rid of sin? "Today, in your prayer, allow Jesus to raise your eyes and convince you of his total and absolute victory over Satan, so that you can receive all blessings. that the Lord offers you.

"Eternal Father, I thank you for sending Jesus to destroy the power of Satan. Come, Lord Jesus, and fill every corner of my life with your light and your love. "Amen
