Cordero de Dios

Jn 1, 29-34

Al día siguiente, vio Juan el Bautista a Jesús, que venía hacia él, y exclamó: "Éste es el Cordero de Dios, el que quita el pecado del mundo. Éste es aquel de quien yo he dicho: 'El que viene después de mí, tiene precedencia sobre mí, porque ya existía antes que yo'. Yo no lo conocía, pero he venido a bautizar con agua, para que él sea dado a conocer a Israel".

Entonces Juan dio este testimonio: "Vi al Espíritu descender del cielo en forma de paloma y posarse sobre él. Yo no lo conocía, pero el que me envió a bautizar con agua me dijo: 'Aquel sobre quien veas que baja y se posa el Espíritu Santo, ése es el que ha de bautizar con el Espíritu Santo'. Pues bien, yo lo vi y doy testimonio de que éste es el Hijo de Dios"

John the Baptist saw Jesus coming toward him and said,
"Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world.
He is the one of whom I said,
'A man is coming after me who ranks ahead of me
because he existed before me.'
I did not know him,
but the reason why I came baptizing with water
was that he might be made known to Israel."
John testified further, saying,
"I saw the Spirit come down like a dove from the sky
and remain upon him.
I did not know him,
but the one who sent me to baptize with water told me,
'On whomever you see the Spirit come down and remain,
he is the one who will baptize with the Holy Spirit.'
Now I have seen and testified that he is the Son of God."

Meditacion:

Hoy leemos al sacerdote Juan Lozano:

La primera carta de Juan afirma lo que somos: Hijos de Dios. “Mirad que? amor nos ha tenido el Padre para llamarnos hijos de Dios, pues lo somos”. Si en Navidad celebramos que Dios se hace uno de nosotros, Jesús es nuestro hermano, por lo que su nacimiento nos introduce en la familia de los hijos de Dios, aunque todavía “no se halla manifestado en plenitud nuestro ser hijos, lo que seremos», porque cuando se nos manifieste Cristo, «seremos semejantes a Él, porque le veremos tal cual es”.

Esta afirmación de la Palabra de Dios nos recuerda que no somos huérfanos, que no estamos abandonados a la deriva de la vida, que ningún ser humano está solo, aunque no lo sepa. Dios, nuestro creador y criador, cuida de cada uno de nosotros, de todos. También nos recuerda que, si somos hermanos en Él, debemos sentir a los demás como hermanos, mirarlos con otros ojos, con aire de familia. Intentemos mirar a los demás con ojos nuevos, como nos mira Dios a Nosotros.

En el Niño Dios encontramos nuestro cobijo existencial, estamos en Él. Llamarnos y ser hijos de Dios es la mejor gracia de la Navidad. Y es también la mejor noticia para empezar el año. Seguramente habrá momentos a lo largo del mismo en que nos sentiremos débiles, o con poca suerte, o delicados de salud, o sin grandes éxitos en nuestros proyectos. Pero una cosa no nos la puede quitar nadie: Dios nos ama, nos conoce, nos ha hecho hijos suyos, y a pesar de nuestra debilidad y de nuestro pecado, nos sigue amando y nos destina a una eternidad de vida con Él.

El evangelio continúa con el testimonio de Juan el Bautista. Juan lo conoce bien y nos lo señala para que no lo perdamos de vista en estos días en los que seguimos celebrando su nacimiento. El cordero, el que dará la vida por nosotros cuando sea mayor. A Él lo seguimos y especialmente lo adoramos, con nuestras acciones de amor, en estos días. Amen

Today we read the priest Juan Lozano:

The first letter of John affirms what we are: Children of God. "Look what? the Father has given us love to call us children of God, because we are ". If at Christmas we celebrate that God becomes one of us, Jesus is our brother, so that his birth introduces us into the family of God's children, even though "our children are not fully manifested, what we will be" , because when Christ manifests us, "we will be like Him, because we will see Him as He is".

This affirmation of the Word of God reminds us that we are not orphans, that we are not abandoned to the drift of life, that no human being is alone, even if he does not know it. God, our creator and breeder, takes care of each one of us, of everyone. It also reminds us that, if we are brothers in Him, we should feel others as brothers, look at them with different eyes, with a family air. Let us try to look at others with new eyes, as God looks at us.

In the Child God we find our existential shelter, we are in Him. Calling us and being children of God is the best grace of Christmas. And it's also the best news to start the year. Surely there will be moments along the same in which we feel weak, or with little luck, or delicate health, or without great success in our projects. But nobody can take it from us: God loves us, he knows us, he has made us his children, and despite our weakness and our sin, he continues to love us and destines us to an eternity of life with him.

The gospel continues with the testimony of John the Baptist. Juan knows him well and tells us so we do not lose sight of him during these days in which we continue to celebrate his birth. The lamb, the one who will give his life for us when he is older. We follow Him and especially adore Him, with our love actions, these days. Amen
