Mt 5, 17-19

GospelMT 5:17-19
Jesus said to his disciples:
"Do not think that I have come to abolish the law or the prophets.
I have come not to abolish but to fulfill.
Amen, I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away,
not the smallest letter or the smallest part of a letter
will pass from the law,
until all things have taken place.
Therefore, whoever breaks one of the least of these commandments
and teaches others to do so
will be called least in the Kingdom of heaven.
But whoever obeys and teaches these commandments
will be called greatest in the Kingdom of heaven."

Meditacion:
Amen

It is interesting today's Gospel that insists on the value of the laws of Moses, validated by Jesus.
We could think that Jesus came to "kick the board", shuffle the cards and give again. But no, Jesus does not repeal a single one of the commandments or the laws (a little centered in the forms and not in the spiritual contents) of that time.
What Jesus does is give him a new meaning, based on love, love of God and love for our brothers. And he says it very clearly in Matthew 22: "Teacher, what is the great commandment in the law?
37 Jesus said to him, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.
38 This is the first and great commandment.
39 And the second is similar: You shall love your neighbor as yourself.
40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets "
With Jesus we understand the morality of the ten commandments as a minimum for our life but a new door is opened that is to love God and our brothers without measure.
"Lord, I give you infinite thanks because I know that, however much I love or try, I will never be able to fulfill all the commandments of the Law, but I know that you have fulfilled them for me and that you are my fulness." Amen
