Real conocimiento

Jn 7, 1-2. 10. 25-30

En aquel tiempo, Jesús recorría Galilea, pues no quería andar por Judea, porque los judíos trataban de matarlo. Se acercaba ya la fiesta de los judíos, llamada de los Campamentos.

Cuando los parientes de Jesús habían llegado ya a Jerusalén para la fiesta, llegó también él, pero sin que la gente se diera cuenta, como de incógnito. Algunos, que eran de Jerusalén, se decían: "¿No es éste al que quieren matar? Miren cómo habla libremente y no le dicen nada. ¿Será que los jefes se han convencido de que es el Mesías? Pero nosotros sabemos de dónde viene éste; en cambio, cuando llegue el Mesías, nadie sabrá de dónde viene".

Jesús, por su parte, mientras enseñaba en el templo, exclamó: "Conque me conocen a mí y saben de dónde vengo... Pues bien, yo no vengo por mi cuenta, sino enviado por el que es veraz; y a él ustedes no lo conocen. Pero yo sí lo conozco, porque procedo de él y él me ha enviado". Trataron entonces de capturarlo, pero nadie le pudo echar mano, porque todavía no había llegado su hora.

Jesus moved about within Galilee;
he did not wish to travel in Judea,
because the Jews were trying to kill him.
But the Jewish feast of Tabernacles was near.

But when his brothers had gone up to the feast,
he himself also went up, not openly but as it were in secret.

Some of the inhabitants of Jerusalem said,
"Is he not the one they are trying to kill?
And look, he is speaking openly and they say nothing to him.
Could the authorities have realized that he is the Christ?
But we know where he is from.
When the Christ comes, no one will know where he is from."
So Jesus cried out in the temple area as he was teaching and said,
"You know me and also know where I am from.
Yet I did not come on my own,
but the one who sent me, whom you do not know, is true.
I know him, because I am from him, and he sent me."
So they tried to arrest him,
but no one laid a hand upon him,
because his hour had not yet come.

Meditacion:

Es interesante el evangelio de hoy.

Los detractores de Jesús pensaban que conocían al Señor, pero se equivocaban porque el verdadero entendimiento de la Persona de Cristo viene solamente por revelación. Esta es la esencia de la oración: Buscar humildemente la presencia y la sabiduría de Dios. Cuando uno reconoce su absoluta necesidad y su condición de pecador, puede presentarse ante el Señor para que el Espíritu Santo le llene el corazón y la mente de la verdad divina, una verdad que transforma y enseña.

San Agustín, hablando por experiencia propia, explicó cuál es la diferencia entre conocer algo acerca de Dios con la mente natural y hacerlo mediante una revelación: “Cuando joven, ambicionaba aplicar al estudio de las Sagradas Escrituras todos los refinamientos de la dialéctica. Lo hice, pero sin la humildad de un auténtico buscador. Se suponía que debía tocar a la puerta para que ésta se abriera delante de mí; pero en lugar de eso, yo mismo la estaba cerrando, tratando de entender con soberbia lo que solamente se puede aprender con la humildad. Pero el Señor, que es todo misericordioso, me levantó y me guardó” (Sermón 51, 6).

A veces nuestra soberbia nos lleva a creer que sabemos o conocemos un poquito mas porque estudiamos, porque oramos un poco mas o leemos la biblia. Pero si a ese conocimiento no lo acompaña un real arrepentimiento y una conversion real que nos haga humilde, solo seremos necios sin corazon.

El Señor quiere levantarnos a todos y comunicarnos palabras de amor y sabiduría. Ahora que nos encontramos en la peregrinación cuaresmal hacia la Pascua, pídele al Espíritu Santo que te conceda una revelación acerca del corazón del Padre y te abra los oídos para escuchar la voz de Jesús. Dios quiere darte mucho más: La gracia necesaria para comprender su amor, aceptar la cruz, obedecer su palabra y crecer en santidad.

“Señor mío Jesucristo, quiero conocerte de verdad. Lléname de tu Espíritu Santo, te lo ruego, para que yo llegue a ser un beneficiario generoso de tu divina revelación.” Amen

The gospel of today is interesting.

The detractors of Jesus thought they knew the Lord, but they were wrong because the true understanding of the Person of Christ comes only by revelation. This is the essence of prayer: humbly seek the presence and wisdom of God. When you recognize your absolute necessity and your sinfulness, you can present yourself before the Lord so that the Holy Spirit fills your heart and mind with divine truth, a truth that transforms and teaches.

St. Augustine, speaking from his own experience, explained the difference between knowing something about God with the natural mind and doing it through a revelation: "When young, I aspired to apply to the study of the Sacred Scriptures all the refinements of the dialectic. I did it, but without the humility of an authentic seeker. I was supposed to knock on the door so it would open in front of me; but instead of that, I was closing it myself, trying to understand with pride what can only be learned with humility. But the Lord, who is all merciful, lifted me up and kept me "(Sermon 51, 6).

Sometimes our arrogance leads us to believe that we know or know a little more because we study, because we pray a little more or we read the Bible. But if that knowledge is not accompanied by a real repentance and a real conversion that makes us humble, we will only be fools without hearts.

The Lord wants to raise us all and communicate words of love and wisdom. Now that we are on the Lenten pilgrimage to Easter, ask the Holy Spirit to grant you a revelation about the Father's heart and open your ears to hear the voice of Jesus. God wants to give you much more: The necessary grace to understand his love, accept the cross, obey his word and grow in holiness.

"My Lord Jesus Christ, I want to really know you. Fill me with your Holy Spirit, I beg you, so that I may become a generous beneficiary of your divine revelation. "Amen
