Jn 5, 31-47
En aquel tiempo, Jesús dijo a los judíos: "Si yo diera testimonio de mí, mi testimonio no tendría valor; otro es el que da testimonio de mí y yo bien sé que ese testimonio que da de mí, es válido.
Ustedes enviaron mensajeros a Juan el Bautista y él dio testimonio de la verdad. No es que yo quiera apoyarme en el testimonio de un hombre. Si digo esto, es para que ustedes se salven. Juan era la lámpara que ardía y brillaba, y ustedes quisieron alegrarse un instante con su luz. Pero yo tengo un testimonio mejor que el de Juan: las obras que el Padre me ha concedido realizar y que son las que yo hago, dan testimonio de mí y me acreditan como enviado del Padre.
El Padre, que me envió, ha dado testimonio de mí. Ustedes nunca han escuchado su voz ni han visto su rostro, y su palabra no habita en ustedes, porque no le creen al que él ha enviado.
Ustedes estudian las Escrituras pensando encontrar en ellas vida eterna; pues bien, ellas son las que dan testimonio de mí. ¡Y ustedes no quieren venir a mí para tener vida! Yo no busco la gloria que viene de los hombres; es que los conozco y sé que el amor de Dios no está en ellos. Yo he venido en nombre de mi Padre y ustedes no me han recibido. Si otro viniera en nombre propio, a ése sí lo recibirían. ¿Cómo va a ser posible que crean ustedes, que aspiran a recibir gloria los unos de los otros y no buscan la gloria que sólo viene de Dios?
No piensen que yo los voy a acusar ante el Padre; ya hay alguien que los acusa: Moisés, en quien ustedes tienen su esperanza. Si creyeran en Moisés, me creerían a mí, porque él escribió acerca de mí. Pero, si no dan fe a sus escritos, ¿cómo darán fe a mis palabras?''

"If I testify on my own behalf, my testimony is not true.
But there is another who testifies on my behalf,
and I know that the testimony he gives on my behalf is true.
You sent emissaries to John, and he testified to the truth.
I do not accept human testimony,
but I say this so that you may be saved.
He was a burning and shining lamp,
and for a while you were content to rejoice in his light.
But I have testimony greater than John's.
The works that the Father gave me to accomplish,
these works that I perform testify on my behalf
that the Father has sent me.
Moreover, the Father who sent me has testified on my behalf.
But you have never heard his voice nor seen his form,
and you do not have his word remaining in you,
because you do not believe in the one whom he has sent.
You search the Scriptures,
because you think you have eternal life through them;
even they testify on my behalf.
But you do not want to come to me to have life.
"I do not accept human praise;
moreover, I know that you do not have the love of God in you.
I came in the name of my Father,
but you do not accept me;
yet if another comes in his own name,
you will accept him.
How can you believe, when you accept praise from one another
and do not seek the praise that comes from the only God?
Do not think that I will accuse you before the Father:
the one who will accuse you is Moses,
in whom you have placed your hope.
For if you had believed Moses,
you would have believed me,
because he wrote about me.
But if you do not believe his writings,
how will you believe my words?"

Meditacion:
En la primera lectura de hoy, Moises intercede ante Dios por el pueblo judio que habia hecho un idolo de oro y metal para adorar mientras Moises estaba en el monte, recibiendo las tablas de los mandamientos.
Y Jesus toma esto para decirles que nuevamente estan mirando para otro lado, que al igual que el pueblo judio en tiempo de Moises, no reconocen al enviado de Dios... en este caso, a su propio hijo que estaba claro vendria segun las antiguas escrituras.
"Ustedes estudian las Escrituras pensando encontrar en ellas vida eterna; pues bien, ellas son las que dan testimonio de mí. ¡Y ustedes no quieren venir a mí para tener vida!" les dice Jesus (y nos dice a nosotros tambien)
Porque al igual que los judios nosotros tambien nos hacemos los tontos y dejamos a Jesus de lado, parece que creemos que siempre habra otro dia para nuestras practicas espirituales, somos muy necios y no oramos mas que cuando las cosas andan de mal en peor.
El primer paso siempre es reconocer la mano de Dios en nuestra realidad y hacernos humildes para entender que nada esta en nuestras manos, que solo podemos controlarnos a nosotros mismos y el resto es una cuestion de fe, de dejar que Dios nos lleve por sus caminos.
En muchas circunstancias del diario vivir, Dios trabaja dando testimonio de su Hijo y nos ofrece sus bendiciones y su amor. Si usted no cree haberlo experimentado conscientemente, pídale al Señor que le abra los ojos hoy para que vea las numerosas personas y situaciones que dan testimonio de la salvación que Jesús obtuvo para usted en la cruz.
“Jesús, Señor mío, abre mis ojos para que yo reconozca las muchas maneras en que me prodigas tu amor a mí y a los míos; luego, abre mis labios, te lo ruego, para alabarte y darte gracias.” Amen

In today's first reading, Moses intercedes before God for the Jewish people who had made an idol of gold and metal to worship while Moses was on the mountain, receiving the tables of the commandments.
And Jesus takes this to tell them that they are again looking the other way, that like the Jewish people in the time of Moses, they do not recognize the envoy of God ... in this case, his own son that was clear would come according to the ancient writings
"You study the Scriptures thinking of finding eternal life in them, well, they are the ones that give testimony of me, and you do not want to come to me to have life!" Jesus tells them (and he tells us too)
Because like the Jews we also play dumb and leave Jesus aside, it seems that we believe that there will always be another day for our spiritual practices, we are very foolish and do not pray more than when things go from bad to worse.
The first step is always to recognize the hand of God in our reality and humble ourselves to understand that nothing is in our hands, that we can only control ourselves and the rest is a question of faith, of letting God lead us in his ways .
In many circumstances of daily living, God works by bearing witness to his Son and offers us his blessings and his love. If you do not believe that you have consciously experienced it, ask the Lord to open your eyes today so that you see the many people and situations that bear witness to the salvation that Jesus obtained for you on the cross.
"Jesus, my Lord, open my eyes so that I recognize the many ways in which you lavish your love on me and on mine; then, open my lips, I beg you, to praise you and give you thanks. "Amen
