Amen a sus enemigos

Mt 5, 43-48

En aquel tiempo, Jesús dijo a sus discípulos: "Han oído ustedes que se dijo: Ama a tu prójimo y odia a tu enemigo; yo, en cambio, les digo: Amen a sus enemigos, hagan el bien a los que los odian y rueguen por los que los persiguen y calumnian, para que sean hijos de su Padre celestial, que hace salir su sol sobre los buenos y los malos, y manda su lluvia sobre los justos y los injustos.

Porque si ustedes aman a los que los aman, ¿qué recompensa merecen? ¿No hacen eso mismo los publicanos? Y si saludan tan sólo a sus hermanos, ¿qué hacen de extraordinario? ¿No hacen eso mismo los paganos? Ustedes, pues, sean perfectos, como su Padre celestial es perfecto".

Jesus said to his disciples:
"You have heard that it was said,
You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.
But I say to you, love your enemies
and pray for those who persecute you,
that you may be children of your heavenly Father,
for he makes his sun rise on the bad and the good,
and causes rain to fall on the just and the unjust.
For if you love those who love you, what recompense will you have?
Do not the tax collectors do the same?
And if you greet your brothers only,
what is unusual about that?
Do not the pagans do the same?
So be perfect, just as your heavenly Father is perfect."

Meditacion:

Este evangelio nos invita a salir de nuestra "zona de comfort" y a mezclarnos, a hablar con los que nunca hablariamos, a levantar la mirada y reconocer al hermano, mirandolo a los ojos.

Es facil vivir siempre rodeado de personas que nos gustan y que son similares a nosotros... que aprenderiamos?, que conoceriamos si a todo lo que hicieramos recibieramos aprobacion?

Una piedra que rueda es la que toma una forma definida; millones de otras piedras estan solamente quietas pero la piedra que viene bajando de la montaña, traida por el agua, generalmente es mas lisa, redonda y suave, producto de haberse golpeado con otras piedras y de la accion del agua.

Por eso hermanos salgamos a las calles a buscar reflejar con nuestra vida el evangelio pero no solamente entre los nuestros sino en toda persona que se nos cruce en el camino.

Quien va introduciendo poco a poco la lógica del misterio cristiano en todas las facetas de su existencia va adquiriendo, aun sin saberlo, la fuerza de lo alto. De modo que llegará un día en que se descubra capaz de aquello que, viviendo bajo otra lógica, le hubiera sido imposible. Podrá llegar incluso a perdonar a sus enemigos, como hizo Cristo en la cruz; un gesto de amor tan generoso que representa la cumbre de la vida cristiana. Quien comienza compartiendo tiempo con otro hermano, puede al final compartir Su feliz misericordia.

Todos llevamos en el alma la imagen de Dios, así que los demás pueden revelarte una faceta de la naturaleza de Dios que tú nunca habías descubierto.

Entonces, ¿somos iguales o somos diferentes? Somos las dos cosas. Y así es como Dios lo quiere.

“Padre celestial, ¡gracias por darme hermanos y hermanas tan diferentes!” Amen

This gospel invites us to leave our "zone of comfort" and to mix, to talk with those we would never speak of, to look up and recognize the brother, looking him in the eye.

It is easy to live always surrounded by people we like and who are similar to us ... what would we learn? What would we know if everything we did received approval?

A rolling stone is one that takes a definite shape; millions of other stones are only quiet but the stone that comes down from the mountain, brought by the water, is generally more smooth, round and smooth, product of being hit with other stones and the action of water.

That is why we brothers and sisters, we go out into the streets to seek to reflect the gospel with our lives, but not only among our own, but in every person who crosses our path.

Who is gradually introducing the logic of the Christian mystery in all facets of its existence is acquiring, even without knowing it, the force from on high. So that a day will come when he will find himself capable of that which, living under another logic, would have been impossible for him. He may even forgive his enemies, as Christ did on the cross; a gesture of love so generous that it represents the summit of the Christian life. Whoever starts by sharing time with another brother, may in the end share His mercy.

We all carry in our souls the image of God, so that others can reveal to you a facet of the nature of God that you have never discovered.

So, are we the same or are we different? We are both. And this is how God wants it.

"Heavenly Father, thank you for giving me such different brothers and sisters!" Amen
