Mt 5, 38-42

GospelMT 5:38-42
Jesus said to his disciples:
"You have heard that it was said,
An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.
But I say to you, offer no resistance to one who is evil.
When someone strikes you on your right cheek,
turn the other one to him as well.
If anyone wants to go to law with you over your tunic,
hand him your cloak as well.
Should anyone press you into service for one mile,
go with him for two miles.
Give to the one who asks of you,
and do not turn your back on one who wants to borrow."

Meditacion:
Amen

We begin the week with this gospel that tells us to break with the classic human vision of the eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth.
Let's see brothers for a minute around us ... today, there are not many people willing to give something selflessly; In general, if we lend something, we hope it is returned to us.
But Jesus tells us to give and waste without measure because it is the perfect example of his love.
Many of us will face the dilemma of what to do? live with the minimum, giving constantly? and then (very humanely) he will say "and if I'm left with nothing?" The fear of being helpless is something very profound in our human nature and it costs us a lot.
How to understand that Jesus has no limits, that the more we give, the more we receive?
If we cling to what we see, to my car, to my house, to my cell phone, there will be no possibility of letting flow so that other people or things come to us.
It is this theory of abundance that is so opposed to the theory of each day in this world today.
And so a good witness of the way goes through life as the letter says to the Corinthians "We fight with the arms of justice, both to attack and to defend ourselves, in the midst of honor and dishonor, of good and the bad reputation We are the "impostors" who tell the truth, the "strangers" well known, the "dying" who are well alive, the "condemned" never executed, the "afflicted" always happy, the "poor" many enrich, the "needy" who have everything "
Therefore, the behavior of the Christian must be that of not seeking revenge, but clearly practicing love, justice and peace; be willing to forgive faults and excuse others' mistakes. This is certainly not easy, but it is the only way to stop violence and manifest divine grace in the world that does not know it.
"Beloved Jesus, I ask you to grant me the grace to forgive and not seek revenge when I am offended or hurt. Only with your love can I control my impulses and suffer the damage without seeking retaliation. "Amen
