Mt 5, 20-26
En aquel tiempo, Jesús dijo a sus discípulos: "Les aseguro que si su justicia no es mayor que la de los escribas y fariseos, ciertamente no entrarán ustedes en el Reino de los cielos.
Han oído ustedes que se dijo a los antiguos: No matarás y el que mate será llevado ante el tribunal. Pero yo les digo: Todo el que se enoje con su hermano, será llevado también ante el tribunal; el que insulte a su hermano, será llevado ante el tribunal supremo, y el que lo desprecie, será llevado al fuego del lugar de castigo.
Por lo tanto, si cuando vas a poner tu ofrenda sobre el altar, te acuerdas allí mismo de que tu hermano tiene alguna queja contra ti, deja tu ofrenda junto al altar y ve primero a reconciliarte con tu hermano, y vuelve luego a presentar tu ofrenda.
Arréglate pronto con tu adversario, mientras vas con él por el camino; no sea que te entregue al juez, el juez al policía y te metan a la cárcel. Te aseguro que no saldrás de allí hasta que hayas pagado el último centavo".

and whoever says, 'You fool,' will be liable to fiery Gehenna.
Therefore, if you bring your gift to the altar,
and there recall that your brother
has anything against you,
leave your gift there at the altar,
go first and be reconciled with your brother,
and then come and offer your gift.
Settle with your opponent quickly while on the way to court with him.
Otherwise your opponent will hand you over to the judge,
and the judge will hand you over to the guard,
and you will be thrown into prison.
Amen, I say to you,
you will not be released until you have paid the last penny."

Meditacion:
Los fariseos no eran malos tipos. Respetaban la ley de Moises, hacian sacrificios, eran buenos ciudadanos...
Pero Jesus nos dice que debemos ser mejores que ellos.
Que es lo que especificamente nos pide el Señor? que pongamos misericordia y amor en nuestros actos.
Cuando tu pones amor en cada pequeña cosa que haces, sea tu trabajo o tu familia o estar con amigos, ese amor se refleja y refleja el amor de Dios por nosotros.
En realidad, Jesus nos pide que seamos embajadores de Dios, siempre representando a su Padre celestial en nuestro quehacer de cada dia.
Nos hemos detenido a pensar esto alguna vez? Ser embajadores de Dios es llevar su nombre y su amor a cada lugar que vamos.
Esto no es fácil de hacer. Lo que Jesús nos pide es nada menos que elevarnos por encima de nuestras debilidades humanas y tratar a los demás con el mismo amor que él nos tiene a nosotros. Desde luego, él nos ofrece su gracia, pero nos toca a nosotros tomar la decisión de seguir el camino de la rectitud.
La invitación que recibimos en una fiesta como la de hoy es a reconocer el sacerdocio común que nos acompaña a todos los fieles desde nuestro bautismo y que nos invita a ser mediadores o puentes entre Dios y su pueblo. Si nos tomamos en serio lo de ser puentes que comunican y acercan, sabremos con facilidad que nuestra vida está llamada a ser una «eucaristía» viva, como el pan partido y repartido que se entrega por amor a todos.
“Señor Jesús, enséñame a ser misericordioso, como tú eres misericordioso.” Amen

The Pharisees were not bad guys. They respected the law of Moses, made sacrifices, they were good citizens ...
But Jesus tells us that we should be better than them.
What does the Lord specifically ask of us? that we put mercy and love in our acts.
When you put love into every little thing you do, be it your work or your family or be with friends, that love is reflected and reflects God's love for us.
In reality, Jesus asks us to be ambassadors of God, always representing his heavenly Father in our daily tasks.
Have we ever stopped to think about this? To be ambassadors of God is to take his name and his love to every place we go.
This is not easy to do. What Jesus asks of us is nothing less than to rise above our human weaknesses and treat others with the same love he has for us. Of course, he offers us his grace, but it is up to us to make the decision to follow the path of righteousness.
The invitation we received at a party like today is to recognize the common priesthood that accompanies us all the faithful from our baptism and invites us to be mediators or bridges between God and his people. If we are serious about being bridges that communicate and bring us closer, we will easily know that our life is called to be a living "eucharist", like the broken and distributed bread that is given out of love for all.
