Ay de Ustedes! (2)

Mt 23, 23-26

En aquel tiempo, Jesús dijo a los escribas y fariseos: "¡Ay de ustedes, escribas y fariseos hipócritas, porque pagan el diezmo de la menta, del anís y del comino, pero descuidan lo más importante de la ley, que son la justicia, la misericordia y la fidelidad! Esto es lo que tenían que practicar, sin descuidar aquello. ¡Guías ciegos, que cuelan el mosquito, pero se tragan el camello!

¡Ay de ustedes, escribas y fariseos hipócritas, que limpian por fuera los vasos y los platos, mientras que por dentro siguen sucios con su rapacidad y codicia! ¡Fariseo ciego!, limpia primero por dentro el vaso y así quedará también limpio por fuera''.

Jesus said:
"Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, you hypocrites.
You pay tithes of mint and dill and cummin,
and have neglected the weightier things of the law:
judgment and mercy and fidelity.
But these you should have done, without neglecting the others.
Blind guides, who strain out the gnat and swallow the camel!

"Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, you hypocrites.
You cleanse the outside of cup and dish,
but inside they are full of plunder and self-indulgence.
Blind Pharisee, cleanse first the inside of the cup,
so that the outside also may be clean."

Meditacion:

Hoy Jesus sigue con este largo discurso destinado mayormente a los fariseos y escribas recien manana terminara este evangelio y pasado contemplaremos la muerte de Juan El Bautista.

Parecería que la reprensión de Jesús fue demasiado tajante, y hasta podría hacerle a uno retorcerse de impresión, pues si lo pensamos bien, la mayoría sabemos que tales palabras podrían aplicarse fácilmente a nosotros. Pero Jesús no estaba tratando de avergonzar a los fariseos (ni a nosotros); lo que está tratando de hacer es hacernos reconocer la verdad: Solamente Jesús es capaz de limpiar el interior del “vaso” de nuestro corazón.

Es posible que esas palabras de Jesús resulten demasiado severas para algunos, pero sea como sea, hay algo de lo cual cada cristiano debe estar seguro: Dios no está enojado contigo. El Señor te ama incondicionalmente y solo está tratando de abrirte los ojos para que veas las “sobras” de desorden que hay en tu corazón. Él pronuncia esa reprensión, pero lo hace como una invitación para que te vuelvas a su lado.

Por eso conviene examinarse la conciencia: ¿Ves algo del fariseo en ti? Casi todos caemos con demasiada facilidad. Queremos cumplir las reglas externas, pero en el corazón llevamos “restos” de egoísmo, envidia o crítica que no podemos quitar por nosotros mismos. Si te parece que tienes actitudes como ésas, confiésate, pide consejos al sacerdote y deja que la gracia del Espíritu Santo lave tu alma y la deje blanca e inmaculada. Así serás un buen ejemplo para tus hijos y para todos.”

Jesús quiere ayudarte; quiere que seas santo como él es santo; quiere llevarte de la mano especialmente cuando tienes que afrontar algo que te separa de él. Tal vez te lleve a mirar honestamente “la suciedad” que hay en tu vasija, para que lo lleves a los pies de Cristo y quedes bien limpio. Así podrás crecer en la fe y experimentar mejor el amor de Dios.

“Jesús, Señor mío, límpiame por dentro para que así yo quede limpio por fuera también.” Amen

Today Jesus continues with this long speech destined mainly to the Pharisees and scribes just tomorrow will end this gospel and past we will contemplate the death of John the Baptist.

It would seem that Jesus' rebuke was too blunt, and it could even make one squirm in print, because if we think about it, most of us know that such words could easily apply to us. But Jesus was not trying to shame the Pharisees (or us); What he is trying to do is make us recognize the truth: Only Jesus is able to clean the inside of the "vessel" of our heart.

It is possible that those words of Jesus are too severe for some, but whatever it is, there is something that every Christian should be sure of: God is not angry with you. The Lord loves you unconditionally and is just trying to open your eyes so you can see the "leftovers" of disorder in your heart. He pronounces that rebuke, but he does it as an invitation for you to return to his side.

That is why conscience should be examined: Do you see anything of the Pharisee in you? Almost all of us fall too easily. We want to comply with the external rules, but in our hearts we carry "remains" of selfishness, envy or criticism that we cannot remove by ourselves. If you think you have attitudes like these, confess, ask the priest for advice and let the grace of the Holy Spirit wash your soul and leave it white and immaculate. That way you will be a good example for your children and for everyone. ”

Jesus wants to help you; He wants you to be holy as he is holy; He wants to take you by the hand especially when you have to face something that separates you from him. It may lead you to look honestly at “the dirt” in your vessel, so that you can take it to the feet of Christ and be very clean. So you can grow in faith and experience God's love better.

“Jesus, my Lord, clean me inside so that I may be clean on the outside as well.” Amen
