Ay de Ustedes!

Mt 23, 13-22

En aquel tiempo, Jesús dijo a los escribas y fariseos: "¡Ay de ustedes, escribas y fariseos hipócritas, porque les cierran a los hombres el Reino de los cielos! Ni entran ustedes ni dejan pasar a los que quieren entrar.

¡Ay de ustedes, escribas y fariseos hipócritas, que recorren mar y tierra para ganar un adepto, y cuando lo consiguen, lo hacen todavía más digno de condenación que ustedes mismos!

¡Ay de ustedes, guías ciegos, que enseñan que jurar por el templo no obliga, pero que jurar por el oro del templo, sí obliga! ¡Insensatos y ciegos! ¿Qué es más importante, el oro o el templo, que santifica al oro? También enseñan ustedes que jurar por el altar no obliga. ¡Ciegos! ¿Qué es más importante, la ofrenda o el altar, que santifica a la ofrenda? Quien jura, pues, por el altar, jura por él y por todo lo que está sobre él. Quien jura por el templo, jura por él y por aquel que lo habita. Y quien jura por el cielo, jura por el trono de Dios y por aquel que está sentado en él".

Jesus said to the crowds and to his disciples:
"Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, you hypocrites.
You lock the Kingdom of heaven before men.
You do not enter yourselves,
nor do you allow entrance to those trying to enter.

"Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, you hypocrites.
You traverse sea and land to make one convert,
and when that happens you make him a child of Gehenna
twice as much as yourselves.

"Woe to you, blind guides, who say,
'If one swears by the temple, it means nothing,
but if one swears by the gold of the temple, one is obligated.'
Blind fools, which is greater, the gold,
or the temple that made the gold sacred?
And you say, 'If one swears by the altar, it means nothing,
but if one swears by the gift on the altar, one is obligated.'
You blind ones, which is greater, the gift,
or the altar that makes the gift sacred?
One who swears by the altar swears by it and all that is upon it;
one who swears by the temple swears by it
and by him who dwells in it;
one who swears by heaven swears by the throne of God
and by him who is seated on it."

Meditacion:

Comenzamos el lunes y asi nomas Jesus se despacha con un discurso bastante fuerte para todos los representantes del judaismo.

Lo triste es que el mismo discurso puede ser aplicado, asi nomas, sin hacerle ningun cambio, a nuestras propias Iglesias. Parece que en 2000 años los clerigos no hemos aprendido mucho y a veces (muchas veces) no somos muchos mejores que los fariseos y escribas del tiempo de Jesus.

Hemos colonizado nuestras Iglesias, separandonos del pueblo de Dios, procurando que nadie venga con ideas diferentes, callando los disensos, marcando diferencias entre lo que es "correcto y aceptable" y lo que no deseamos ver en nuestras celebraciones; de manera ciega perdimos el contacto con todas otras comunidades y en vez de celebrar un sacerdocio de puertas abiertas, nos preocupamos, mezquinamente, por no perder feligreses, imponiendo graves cargos de conciencia por pensar diferente o, simplemente, explorar otras Iglesias, en un ciego mandato sobre que "la nuestra es la correcta"

Ahh cuanto perdon debemos pedir!! 

Ayer nomas charlaba con una feligresa de nuestra Iglesia sobre las dificultades que tiene cuando alguien de otra Iglesia se quiere casar; los tramites y malas caras son interminables, algunas Parroquias se atreven a decir que el sacramento "no es valido", sin comprender el caracter sagrado de un sacramento.  Debemos acabar con las denominaciones eclesiasticas de las diferentes Iglesias.

Y, finalmente, guiamos al pueblo de Dios pero sin proponer la santidad como modo de vida sino como fin.

Y sobre todo este lio en que hemos convertido las Iglesias, que ha causado tanto dolor y separacion, esta el amor de Dios, esperando ser aceptado.

Entonces amigos, como yo siempre digo, las practicas espirituales son muy importantes pero el vivir el evangelio lo es mas; llenemos nuestra vida de espiritualidad y amor a Dios y los demas y salgamos a la busqueda de nuestros hermanos y hermanas, sin mirar mucho de que color, raza, sexo o religion profesan. Especialmente lo ultimo.

Pidámosle pues al Espíritu Santo, el Espíritu de la verdad, que nos haga ver si en algo usamos el Evangelio para adelantar aspiraciones personales y no para los fines de Dios.

“Espíritu Santo, si yo estoy utilizando la religión para mis propios fines, concédeme tu gracia para darme cuenta, Señor, y adoptar una conducta que realmente me lleve a la santidad.” Amen

We start on Monday and so Jesus only dispatches himself with a very strong speech for all the representatives of Judaism.

The sad thing is that the same speech can be applied, just like that, without making any changes, to our own Churches. It seems that in 2000 years the clergy have not learned much and sometimes (many times) we are not much better than the Pharisees and scribes of the time of Jesus.

We have colonized our Churches, separating ourselves from the people of God, ensuring that no one comes with different ideas, silencing dissent, marking differences between what is "right and acceptable" and what we do not want to see in our celebrations; blindly we lost contact with all other communities and instead of celebrating an open-door priesthood, we care, meanly, for not losing parishioners, imposing serious charges of conscience for thinking differently or simply exploring other churches, in a blind mandate that "ours is correct"

Ahh how much sorry we should ask !!

Yesterday I was just chatting with a parishioner of our Church about the difficulties she has when someone from another Church wants to get married; the formalities and bad faces are endless, some parishes dare to say that the sacrament "is not valid", without understanding the sacred character of a sacrament. We must end the ecclesiastical denominations of the different Churches.

And, finally, we lead the people of God but without proposing holiness as a way of life but as an end.

And especially this mess that we have become the Churches, which has caused so much pain and separation, is the love of God, waiting to be accepted.

So friends, as I always say, spiritual practices are very important, but living the gospel is more important; Let us fill our lives with spirituality and love for God and others and go out in search of our brothers and sisters, without looking much at what color, race, sex or religion they profess. Especially the latter.

Let us therefore ask the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of truth, to let us see if we use the Gospel to advance personal aspirations and not for God's purposes.

"Holy Spirit, if I am using religion for my own purposes, grant me your grace to realize, Lord, and to adopt conduct that really leads me to holiness." Amen
