En aquel tiempo, se hallaba Jesús con sus discípulos en Galilea y les dijo: “El Hijo del hombre va a ser entregado en manos de los hombres; lo van a matar, pero al tercer día va a resucitar”. Al oír esto, los discípulos se llenaron de tristeza.
Cuando llegaron a Cafarnaúm, se acercaron a Pedro los recaudadores del impuesto para el templo y le dijeron: “¿Acaso tu maestro no paga el impuesto?” El les respondió: “Sí lo paga”.
Al entrar Pedro en la casa, Jesús se adelantó a preguntarle: “¿Qué te parece, Simón? ¿A quiénes les cobran impuestos los reyes de la tierra, a los hijos o a los extraños?” Pedro le respondió: “A los extraños”. Entonces Jesús le dijo: “Por lo tanto, los hijos están exentos. Pero para no darles motivo de escándalo, ve al lago y echa el anzuelo, saca el primer pez que pique, ábrele la boca y encontrarás una moneda. Tómala y paga por mí y por ti”.

“The Son of Man is to be handed over to men,
and they will kill him, and he will be raised on the third day.”
And they were overwhelmed with grief.
When they came to Capernaum,
the collectors of the temple tax approached Peter and said,
“Does not your teacher pay the temple tax?”
“Yes,” he said.
When he came into the house, before he had time to speak,
Jesus asked him, “What is your opinion, Simon?
From whom do the kings of the earth take tolls or census tax?
From their subjects or from foreigners?”
When he said, “From foreigners,” Jesus said to him,
“Then the subjects are exempt.
But that we may not offend them, go to the sea, drop in a hook,
and take the first fish that comes up.
Open its mouth and you will find a coin worth twice the temple tax.
Give that to them for me and for you.”
Jesus said to them,

Meditacion:
¿A cuántos les gustaría encontrar, en la boca de un pez, el dinero necesario para pagar sus impuestos? Jesús sorprendió a Pedro con este plan para cumplir su tributación. ¡Qué sencilla sería la vida si Jesús estuviera a nuestro lado todo el día, visiblemente presente y nos explicara cómo enfrentar cada desafío con que nos cruzamos!
La verdad es que el Señor disfruta compartiendo sus pensamientos con cada uno de nosotros y siempre nos está hablando. O, para decirlo de una forma más directa y personal, él siempre te está hablando a ti.
A veces Jesús habla con mucha naturalidad y se refiere a las necesidades prácticas. A Pedro le ofreció una forma simple y concreta (aunque inusual) de resolver un problema, y también puede hacer algo parecido por ti. Intenta entrar en su presencia durante el día y pon atención a lo que te diga en diferentes ocasiones. Tal vez una idea brotará en tu mente al preguntarle acerca de un asunto o necesidad específica. También puede ser que un amigo te haga una sugerencia que te parezca una idea acertada. ¡Jesús podría estar hablándote a través de esa persona!
Otras veces, Jesús se manifiesta de formas más místicas, como lo hizo con el profeta Ezequiel, quien pudo reconocer que Dios le estaba hablando en el viento huracanado, el fuego como de relámpagos, el aleteo de los seres alados y el río caudaloso (Ezequiel 1, 4. 6. 24), aun cuando no estaba exactamente seguro del mensaje que estaba recibiendo. Ocasionalmente, Dios nos habla a través de sueños, visiones y otros medios. (Números 22, 22-35)
Más a menudo, Dios nos habla en formas habituales. Por ejemplo, hacer que una línea de la Escritura cobre sentido en tu corazón, o creer que la homilía de la Misa fue pronunciada precisamente para ti, o que en una conversación encuentres orientación, ánimo o consejo cuando más lo necesitas y menos lo esperas.
El Señor puede utilizar cualquier cosa o persona para hablarte, y siempre lo hace, de muchas formas. Poco a poco puedes aprender a escuchar su voz. Luego, con la práctica, aprenderás a entender lo que te está diciendo y cómo quiere que tú le respondas.
“Padre celestial, tú conoces mis necesidades y deseos. Abre mis oídos hoy para escuchar lo que me estás diciendo.”

How many would like to find, in the mouth of a fish, the money needed to pay their taxes? Jesus surprised Peter with this plan to fulfill his taxation. How simple life would be if Jesus were by our side all day, visibly present and explaining how to face every challenge we meet!
The truth is that the Lord enjoys sharing his thoughts with each of us and is always speaking to us. Or, to put it more directly and personally, he is always talking to you.
Sometimes Jesus speaks very naturally and refers to practical needs. Pedro offered a simple and concrete (though unusual) way to solve a problem, and he can also do something similar for you. Try to enter his presence during the day and pay attention to what he tells you on different occasions. Perhaps an idea will sprout in your mind when asked about a specific issue or need. It may also be that a friend makes a suggestion that you think is a wise idea. Jesus could be talking to you through that person!
Other times, Jesus manifests himself in more mystical ways, as he did with the prophet Ezekiel, who could recognize that God was speaking to him in the hurricane wind, fire like lightning, the fluttering of winged beings and the mighty river (Ezekiel 1, 4. 6. 24), even though I wasn't exactly sure of the message I was receiving. Occasionally, God speaks to us through dreams, visions and other means. (Numbers 22, 22-35)
More often, God speaks to us in habitual ways. For example, make a line of Scripture meaningful in your heart, or believe that the homily of the Mass was pronounced precisely for you, or that in a conversation you find guidance, encouragement or advice when you need it most and least expect it.
The Lord can use anything or person to speak to you, and always does, in many ways. Little by little you can learn to listen to his voice. Then, with practice, you will learn to understand what he is saying and how he wants you to respond.
