Mt 13, 54-58

En aquel tiempo, Jesús llegó a su tierra y se puso a enseñar a la gente en la sinagoga, de tal forma, que todos estaban asombrados y se preguntaban: “¿De dónde ha sacado éste esa sabiduría y esos poderes milagrosos? ¿Acaso no es éste el hijo del carpintero? ¿No se llama María su madre y no son sus hermanos Santiago, José, Simón y Judas? ¿Qué no viven entre nosotros todas sus hermanas? ¿De dónde, pues, ha sacado todas estas cosas?” Y se negaban a creer en él.

Entonces, Jesús les dijo: “Un profeta no es despreciado más que en su patria y en su casa”. Y no hizo muchos milagros allí por la incredulidad de ellos.

Jesus came to his native place and taught the people in their synagogue.
They were astonished and said,
"Where did this man get such wisdom and mighty deeds?
Is he not the carpenter's son?
Is not his mother named Mary
and his brothers James, Joseph, Simon, and Judas?
Are not his sisters all with us?
Where did this man get all this?"
And they took offense at him.
But Jesus said to them,
"A prophet is not without honor except in his native place
and in his own house."
And he did not work many mighty deeds there
because of their lack of faith.

Meditacion:

El evangelio de hoy es muy interesante. Fijense una cosa.  San Mateo sitúa este pasaje inmediatamente después de la serie de parábolas que contó Jesús tratando de hacer un contraste entre la gente que “se quedaba en la playa” del lago para escucharle y los que oyeron sus palabras en la sinagoga de su pueblo, es decir, los que no se molestaron en ir a buscarlo.

La diferencia es la siguiente: Los que se reunieron a orillas del lago querían conocer a Jesús, escuchar sus palabras y tener una relación más profunda con él. Los de la sinagoga escuchaban con curiosidad, pero con cierta desconfianza. Finalmente, los tibios de su pueblo lo rechazaron. En cambio, los discípulos, “gente humilde, pecadora, temerosa”, lo escucharon, creyeron en él y se transformaron en poderosos instrumentos de la gracia de Dios.

Dios no es algo lejano, es familiar, diario, esta en nuestras pequenas grandezas y mezquindades.

Muchas veces cometemos el error de pensar que Dios no mira en nuestra direccion, pero es todo lo contrario, El esta alli, tan familiar y cercano que muchas veces, nos parece que es imposible por lo mismo... pero no es este el vecino, el amigo, el familiar de toda la vida? de donde sale ahora con tanta sabiduria?

Posiblemente el interés que una vez tuvimos por conocerlo haya desaparecido o que, debido a las desilusiones y frustraciones de la vida, se haya convertido en apatía.

¿De qué manera quiere reanimarnos el Espíritu Santo hoy día? Cualquiera sea la condición en la que nos encontremos, debemos acercarnos más a Cristo y aferrarnos a él con todas nuestras fuerzas.

En efecto, amigo y amigas, no se límiten a contemplarlo desde lejos; acércate a su lado y pídele, búscalo, toca a su puerta, para que él se te revele cada día más. Ve a caminar con él y deja que te hable al corazón. ¡Qué sorpresa te vas a llevar, pues todos cuantos lo buscan encuentran su amor misericordioso!

“Jesucristo, Salvador mío, cambia mi corazón, te lo ruego. Escucha mis súplicas, Señor, porque te amo con toda mi alma.” Amen

Possibly the interest we once had to know him has disappeared or that, due to the disappointments and frustrations of life, has become apathy.

How does the Holy Spirit want to revive us today? Whatever the condition in which we find ourselves, we must get closer to Christ and cling to him with all our strength.
