Lc 6, 12-19

Por aquellos días, Jesús se retiró al monte a orar y se pasó la noche en oración con Dios.

Cuando se hizo de día, llamó a sus discípulos, eligió a doce de entre ellos y les dio el nombre de apóstoles. Eran Simón, a quien llamó Pedro, y su hermano Andrés; Santiago y Juan; Felipe y Bartolomé; Mateo y Tomás; Santiago, el hijo de Alfeo, y Simón, llamado el Fanático; Judas, el hijo de Santiago, y Judas Iscariote, que fue el traidor.

Al bajar del monte con sus discípulos y sus apóstoles, se detuvo en un llano. Allí se encontraba mucha gente, que había venido tanto de Judea y Jerusalén, como de la costa, de Tiro y de Sidón. Habían venido a oírlo y a que los curara de sus enfermedades; y los que eran atormentados por espíritus inmundos quedaban curados. Toda la gente procuraba tocarlo, porque salía de él una fuerza que sanaba a todos

Jesus departed to the mountain to pray,
and he spent the night in prayer to God.
When day came, he called his disciples to himself,
and from them he chose Twelve, whom he also named Apostles:
Simon, whom he named Peter, and his brother Andrew,
James, John, Philip, Bartholomew,
Matthew, Thomas, James the son of Alphaeus,
Simon who was called a Zealot,
and Judas the son of James,
and Judas Iscariot, who became a traitor.

And he came down with them and stood on a stretch of level ground.
A great crowd of his disciples and a large number of the people 
from all Judea and Jerusalem
and the coastal region of Tyre and Sidon
came to hear him and to be healed of their diseases;
and even those who were tormented by unclean spirits were cured.
Everyone in the crowd sought to touch him
because power came forth from him and healed them all.

Meditacion:

Qué bien se organiza la vida Jesús. Y sin recurrir a muchos proyectos, papeles, documentos o reuniones. Lo tiene claro y elemental: ora, vive con su comunidad de discípulos y sale a la calle a evangelizar, predicando el Evangelio y haciendo bien a la gente. Así de sencillo, así de fecundo.

Gráficamente, podemos distinguir dos planos, el monte y el valle. El monte es, ante todo,  el lugar de la oración, de dirigirse al Padre, de momentos de amistad y de encuentro. Y sin prisas, “paso la noche entera”. En este clima, cuando llega la luz del día, elige a los suyos, a los doce. Gente sencilla, pobre, con escasos recursos personales, tocados de cierto nacionalismo excluyente. Hasta figura el traidor, el Iscariote, que le entregará al enemigo. Luego, poco a poco, los irá cambiando; su presencia, constante y activa, los trasformará. Desde luego, derribando fronteras y murallas para abrirlos a un destino universal. “Con ellos”, con estos apóstoles, bajará al valle. Aquí se escenifica la secuencia: Está Cristo, el Maestro; los apóstoles, el círculo más íntimo; luego, el grupo de discípulos; por fin, el pueblo entero, incluso venidos de lejos, los extranjeros de Tiro y Sidón. Solo falta ya comenzar la actividad evangelizadora: predicar y sanar, con la “fuerza que salía de él y curaba a todos”.

Miramos la escena, y lo tenemos fácil, -parece- a la hora de discernir cómo hemos de componer nuestra vida. Pues, no. Resulta terriblemente arduo y laborioso dar unidad a nuestra vida: saber conjugar la oración, el vivir con los más cercanos y derramarse en actividad, haciendo el bien a todos. La dispersión nos puede; hacemos muchas cosas, pero no somos fecundos, nos falla la raíz. Por lo menos, no nos engañemos y tomemos conciencia de ello. Afirmemos de corazón que “estar con Él”, la adoración, el trato íntimo -como en Jesús- es lo primero; aquí nos alimentamos y tomamos fuerza para lograr algo que ofrecer, algo que decir y la manera de hacerlo. Tengamos confianza: Jesús nos ha elegido, es gesto de amistad personal. Él lo hará todo en nosotros y a través de nosotros.

“Amado Señor, gracias por aceptar el esfuerzo que hago por rezar, aunque sea poco. Señor, ayúdame a mantenerme despierto cuando estoy contigo.” Amen

How well life is organized Jesus. And without resorting to many projects, papers, documents or meetings. It is clear and elementary: pray, live with your community of disciples and go out to evangelize, preaching the Gospel and doing good to the people. It's that simple, that fruitful.

Graphically, we can distinguish two planes, the mountain and the valley. The mountain is, above all, the place of prayer, of addressing the Father, of moments of friendship and meeting. And without hurry, "I spend the whole night." In this climate, when daylight comes, choose yours, at twelve. Simple, poor people, with few personal resources, touched by a certain exclusive nationalism. There is even the traitor, the Iscariot, who will deliver him to the enemy. Then, little by little, it will change them; their presence, constant and active, will transform them. Of course, tearing down borders and walls to open them to a universal destination. "With them," with these apostles, he will go down into the valley. Here the sequence is staged: There is Christ, the Master; the apostles, the most intimate circle; then, the group of disciples; finally, the entire town, even coming from afar, foreigners from Tire and Sidon. All that remains is to begin the evangelizing activity: to preach and heal, with the "force that came out of it and healed everyone."

We look at the scene, and we have it easy, it seems, when it comes to discerning how we are going to compose our life. Well, no. It is terribly arduous and laborious to give unity to our life: knowing how to combine prayer, living with the closest and spilling into activity, doing good to all. The dispersion can us; We do many things, but we are not fruitful, the root fails us. At least, let's not fool ourselves and become aware of it. Let us affirm from the heart that "being with Him", adoration, intimate treatment - as in Jesus - comes first; Here we feed and take strength to achieve something to offer, something to say and how to do it. Let's be confident: Jesus has chosen us, it is a gesture of personal friendship. He will do everything in us and through us.

“Dear Lord, thank you for accepting the effort I make to pray, even if it is little. Lord, help me stay awake when I am with you. ”Amen
