El administrador

Lc 16, 1-8

En aquel tiempo, Jesús dijo a sus discípulos: "Había una vez un hombre rico que tenía un administrador, el cual fue acusado ante él de haberle malgastado sus bienes. Lo llamó y le dijo: '¿Es cierto lo que me han dicho de ti? Dame cuenta de tu trabajo, porque en adelante ya no serás administrador'. Entonces el administrador se puso a pensar: '¿Qué voy a hacer ahora que me quitan el trabajo? No tengo fuerzas para trabajar la tierra y me da vergüenza pedir limosna. Ya sé lo que voy a hacer, para tener a alguien que me reciba en su casa, cuando me despidan'.

Entonces fue llamando uno por uno a los deudores de su amo. Al primero le preguntó: '¿Cuánto le debes a mi amo?' El hombre respondió: 'Cien barriles de aceite'. El administrador le dijo: 'Toma tu recibo, date prisa y haz otro por cincuenta'. Luego preguntó al siguiente: 'Y tú, ¿cuánto debes?' Este respondió: 'Cien sacos de trigo'. El administrador le dijo: 'Toma tu recibo y haz otro por ochenta'.

El amo tuvo que reconocer que su mal administrador había procedido con habilidad. Pues los que pertenecen a este mundo son más hábiles en sus negocios que los que pertenecen a la luz''.

Jesus said to his disciples, "A rich man had a steward
who was reported to him for squandering his property.
He summoned him and said,
'What is this I hear about you?
Prepare a full account of your stewardship,
because you can no longer be my steward.'
The steward said to himself, 'What shall I do,
now that my master is taking the position of steward away from me?
I am not strong enough to dig and I am ashamed to beg.
I know what I shall do so that,
when I am removed from the stewardship,
they may welcome me into their homes.'
He called in his master's debtors one by one.
To the first he said, 'How much do you owe my master?'
He replied, 'One hundred measures of olive oil.'
He said to him, 'Here is your promissory note.
Sit down and quickly write one for fifty.'
Then to another he said, 'And you, how much do you owe?'
He replied, 'One hundred measures of wheat.'  
He said to him, 'Here is your promissory note;
write one for eighty.'
And the master commended that dishonest steward for acting prudently.
For the children of this world
are more prudent in dealing with their own generation
than the children of light."

Meditacion:

Si, ya se que estan pensando todos... en que estaba pensando Jesus para alabar en una parabola una accion evidentemente mala?

A primera vista, la parábola del administrador infiel podría suscitar cierto asombro e incluso cierto escándalo, precisamente porque Jesús alaba su conducta, a pesar de la actitud astuta y deshonesta del empleado. Con todo, no debemos escandalizarnos en absoluto: el Señor no nos presenta como modelo a un estafador o un pillo; lo que hace, más bien, es recordarnos que todos somos responsables de unos bienes que hemos recibido pero que realmente no nos pertenecen, sino que hemos de considerarlos como dones de Dios y, en consecuencia, hemos de tratarlos con la prudencia y la audacia dignas de los hijos de Dios. Les recuerdo aca la parabola de los talentos y lo que le sucedio al administrador que no los uso y los enterro.

El administrador de esta  parábola había abusado de la confianza de su amo subiendo las cantidades adeudadas en beneficio propio. Ante las quejas de los clientes y la amenaza de despido, recapacita, aunque solo sea por conveniencia, y renuncia a su propio beneficio, pidiendo lo justo a los clientes.

Ante esta situación, nosotros pensamos que ese administrador, aunque haya cambiado de actitud, no es de fiar. En cambio, Jesucristo conoce nuestras caídas, pero basta un sincero arrepentimiento y la petición de perdón, para que nos devuelva su confianza y se sienta orgulloso de nosotros, como el amo de la parábola con su administrador. O la parabola de la oveja perdida de hace unos dias. Recordemos lo que decia la meditacion de ayer, Jesus siempre conspira desde el amor.

 Pero tambien Jesús nos invita y exhorta a ser sagaces. esta cualidad debe ser una expresión de la caridad cristiana. La astucia, relacionada siempre con el maligno, significa fingir, mentir, engañar, para lograr lo que queremos. En cambio, la virtud humana de la sagacidad consiste en la habilidad de encontrar los medios justos y más eficaces para alcanzar un objetivo noble, como puede ser vivir nuestra fe y amor a Dios.

Llama la atención ver cómo algunos son muy capaces de obtener lo que se proponen en el ámbito del trabajo, de la familia o con las amistades. En cambio, se comportan con temor y se sienten impotentes a la hora de hablar de Jesucristo y de su doctrina, o de hacer algo por la edificación y avance de la justicia y del amor cristiano.

Si Cristo fuera de verdad el valor más importante para nosotros, ¿no deberíamos comportarnos con más inteligencia e imaginación?

“Amado Señor Jesucristo, ilumina mi mente y mi corazón para saber actuar con sabiduría en el servicio a mi Salvador y a mi prójimo.”

Yes, I know that everyone is thinking ... what was Jesus thinking to praise in a parable an obviously bad action?

At first glance, the parable of the unfaithful administrator could arouse a certain astonishment and even a certain scandal, precisely because Jesus praises his conduct, despite the cunning and dishonest attitude of the employee. However, we must not be scandalized at all: the Lord does not present us as a model to a scammer or a pillo; What it does, rather, is to remind us that we are all responsible for goods that we have received but that do not really belong to us, but that we must consider them as gifts of God and, consequently, we must treat them with dignity and boldness worthy of the children of God. I remind you here the parable of the talents and what happened to the administrator who did not use them and bury them.

The administrator of this parable had abused his master's confidence by raising the amounts owed for his own benefit. In the face of customer complaints and the threat of dismissal, he reconsiders, if only for convenience, and renounces his own benefit, asking customers for what is fair.

Given this situation, we think that administrator, although he has changed his attitude, is not reliable. On the other hand, Jesus Christ knows our falls, but a sincere repentance and the request for forgiveness is enough, so that he can return his trust and be proud of us, as the master of the parable with his administrator. Or the parable of the lost sheep of a few days ago. Remember what the meditation of yesterday said, Jesus always conspires from love.

 But Jesus also invites us and exhorts us to be sagacious. This quality must be an expression of Christian charity. Cunning, always related to the evil one, means to pretend, lie, cheat, to achieve what we want. Instead, the human virtue of sagacity consists in the ability to find the just and most effective means to achieve a noble goal, such as living our faith and love of God.

It is striking to see how some are very capable of obtaining what they propose in the field of work, family or friendships. Instead, they behave in fear and feel helpless when it comes to talking about Jesus Christ and his doctrine, or doing something for the edification and advancement of justice and Christian love.

If Christ were truly the most important value for us, shouldn't we behave with more intelligence and imagination?

"Beloved Lord Jesus Christ, enlighten my mind and my heart to know how to act wisely in the service of my Savior and my neighbor."
