El banquete

Lc 14, 15-24

En aquel tiempo, uno de los que estaban sentados a la mesa con Jesús le dijo: "Dichoso aquel que participe en el banquete del Reino de Dios".

Entonces Jesús le dijo: "Un hombre preparó un gran banquete y convidó a muchas personas. Cuando llegó la hora del banquete, mandó un criado suyo a avisarles a los invitados que vinieran, porque ya todo estaba listo. Pero todos, sin excepción, comenzaron a disculparse. Uno le dijo: 'Compré un terreno y necesito ir a verlo; te ruego que me disculpes'. Otro le dijo: 'Compré cinco yuntas de bueyes y voy a probarlas; te ruego que me disculpes'. Y otro más le dijo: 'Acabo de casarme y por eso no puedo ir'.

Volvió el criado y le contó todo al amo. Entonces el señor se enojó y le dijo al criado: 'Sal corriendo a las plazas y a las calles de la ciudad y trae a mi casa a los pobres, a los lisiados, a los ciegos y a los cojos'.

Cuando regresó el criado, le dijo: 'Señor, hice lo que me ordenaste, y todavía hay lugar'. Entonces el amo respondió: 'Sal a los caminos y a las veredas; insísteles a todos para que vengan y se llene mi casa. Yo les aseguro que ninguno de los primeros invitados participará de mi banquete' ".

One of those at table with Jesus said to him,
"Blessed is the one who will dine in the Kingdom of God."
He replied to him,
"A man gave a great dinner to which he invited many.
When the time for the dinner came,
he dispatched his servant to say to those invited,
'Come, everything is now ready.'
But one by one, they all began to excuse themselves.
The first said to him,
'I have purchased a field and must go to examine it;
I ask you, consider me excused.'
And another said, 'I have purchased five yoke of oxen
and am on my way to evaluate them;
I ask you, consider me excused.'
And another said, 'I have just married a woman,
and therefore I cannot come.'
The servant went and reported this to his master.
Then the master of the house in a rage commanded his servant,
'Go out quickly into the streets and alleys of the town
and bring in here the poor and the crippled,
the blind and the lame.'
The servant reported, 'Sir, your orders have been carried out
and still there is room.'
The master then ordered the servant,
'Go out to the highways and hedgerows
and make people come in that my home may be filled.
For, I tell you, none of those men who were invited will taste my dinner.'"

Meditacion:

Tanto la primera lectura de hoy (un fragmento de la carta a los Romanos) como el evangelio hoy nos hablan de pertenencia.

Y fijense algo aca. Para pertenecer a cualquier entidad o club debemos inscribirnos, debemos cumplir con ciertos pasos. Jesus en su parabola nos dice "primero invite a mis amigos (que eran como los abonados a ese club exclusivo) y nadie vino... en el mundo de amor del Padre, no hay limites ni fronteras ni excluidos.

Y fijemonos y seamos muy prolijos con esto.... no hay excluidos... 

El amor y la misericordia de Jesús son tan grandes que su invitación es para todos: “Mira que estoy aquí, tocando a la puerta; si alguno escucha mi voz y me abre, entraré a su casa y cenaremos juntos” (Apocalipsis 3, 20). Tanto anhela el Señor vernos en su banquete que le dijo al siervo “insísteles a todos para que vengan y se llene mi casa” (Lucas 14, 23).

Y en esa fiesta "Todos nosotros, aun siendo muchos, formamos un solo cuerpo unidos a Cristo, y todos y cada uno somos miembros los unos de los otros. Pero tenemos dones diferentes, según la gracia concedida a cada uno" nos dice San Pablo.

Ser hijos del Padre y herederos del Espiritu Santo es tener esa mision unica por la que estamos en esta vida: amar a nuestros hermanos y reconocer en ellos la vision de Jesus en la tierra.

Querido hermano, ¿estás dispuesto a aceptar la invitación que el Señor te hace para su banquete?

“Señor Jesús, sé que soy pecador, pero quiero estar presente en tu banquete, por eso me acojo a tu divina misericordia y tu perdón.”

Both today's first reading (a fragment of the letter to the Romans) and the Gospel today tell us about belonging.

And notice something here. To belong to any entity or club we must register, we must comply with certain steps. Jesus in his parable tells us "first invite my friends (who were like the subscribers to that exclusive club) and nobody came ... in the Father's world of love, there are no limits or borders or excluded.

And let's look and be very neat with this .... there are no excluded ...

The love and mercy of Jesus are so great that his invitation is for everyone: “Look that I am here, knocking on the door; if anyone hears my voice and opens me, I will go to his house and have dinner together ”(Revelation 3, 20). The Lord is so anxious to see us at his banquet that he told the servant "insist on everyone to come and fill my house" (Luke 14:23).

And in that party "All of us, even being many, form a single body united to Christ, and each and every one of us are members of each other. But we have different gifts, according to the grace granted to each one" says St. Paul .

To be children of the Father and heirs of the Holy Spirit is to have that unique mission for which we are in this life: to love our brothers and to recognize in them the vision of Jesus on earth.

Dear brother, are you willing to accept the invitation that the Lord gives you for your banquet?

"Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner, but I want to be present at your banquet, so I embrace your divine mercy and your forgiveness."
